Greg reviews this mini-album – and hey, he’s annoyed by Bigga Raiji – noting how it completes a transition that started around the tail end of Gocchin’s H!P career.
What? No mention of BIGGA RAIJI and how he fucked things up almost? How could that be?
Ethan takes a track-by-track stab at Gocchin’s mini-album. Like most everyone else, it’s BIGGA RAIJI which ruins what’s otherwise a very enjoyable album. So as long as the fucker stays away from any more releases, Gocchin has a bright future ahead of her…
Isilie has written a wonderfully thoughtful essay here, taking a very measured look at Goto Maki’s career and what she’s gone through in her years as an idol. I think the emphasis on being a “casual” fan may be the key here, as she is empathetic without taking sides for or against her past decisions at H!P or her recent decisions at avex. Not that a dedicated fan can’t do the same, but the distance in the voice actually makes one feel closer to Gocchin from the effort Isilie exerts to understand the idol’s perspective. A very nice bravura piece.
Lex makes fun of the cover before moving to the actual songs, finding a good deal of variety for better and worse (the hate for BIGGA RAIJI seems universal). Overall, he’s impressed with the range and finds hope for Gocchin as an Avex artist.
Vee looks at the set list for the show and makes some observation on who’s in, who’s out, and who’s got the lion’s share of the screen time.
Refusing to be taken in by anticipatory hype, Anna enjoys “Fly away” and “Queen Bee” on Gocchin’s new mini-album but finds little else of meaningful interest.
Selryam takes stock of the much-anticipated mini-album from the former Hello! Project artist, finding “Queen Bee” ruined by BIGGA RAIJI and the rest a mixed bag. The darker, more mature songs are deemed the best of the bunch, with the ballads and lighter numbers suffering in comparison.
Ayaya wrote a very cute post about Gocchin sending a copy of her new album. I’d like to sully this moment by implying something perverse and debased going on between these two ladies… but nah, let’s let this kawaii moment remain kawaii for a change.
