Zac has a very detailed, very thoughtful take on the band’s latest offering. As with other recent efforts, the slide away from more adventurous sounds comes as a disappointment, but the overall effort is admired nonetheless. The real surprise comes at the end, as Zac describes a special edition DVD with a six-hour documentary about the band putting a new song through its paces. While it doesn’t quite sound like Godard filming “Sympathy for the Devil”, the unflinching look at the creative process would be temptation enough for many music fans.
