Sunday Blog Roundup: Marketing Hinochi, Year-End Awards, and Otsuka Ai’s Love

Filed in Cult Of Pop 2.0

My favorite post of the week is definitely from Thea of Made in Paradise, where she explains in detail how VF made Hinoi Team the idol group of the year. I’ve loved Thea’s blog from the start, but I think this is the first big-picture, deep analysis post she’s done and that approach suited her well. It made me look at Hinoi Team (and especially their management) with new admiration. That said, the usual kinds of Thea greatness were evident as well, with her assessment of Hinochi hairdos and tracking "Night of Fire" on the Oricon until it leaves the Top 20 – which it hasn’t yet.

You can tell it’s the end of the year as people are beginning to take a look back. So far, Go of jrocknyc has chosen the book, movie, game, TV show, concert, and PV of the year. Santos of Idolizing St. Anna has posted nominees for his Jpop Idol Awards 2005. Santos also recounts a dream that even I’d think twice about telling people (but after the second thought, yeah, I’d tell everyone, too) and then reminds us of why his blog is named the way it is.

Jariten of HALCALI day by day thoughtfully considers how "Tip Taps Tip" did on the Oricon and what could have been done better with the marketing. ikiwimasshoi has a new columnist, itachi808 (which makes me think he’s a local), who’ll be looking at Japan TV Ratings and the Oricon WeeklyCharts. Tsp of Morning Musume Forever reviews Otsuka Ai’s new album and sabuka.ika of The Blog That Will Change Everything (Eventually) considers Otsuka Ai’s quest to define love. Leanne of the ever-resourceful Channel-Ai takes a look at Hyde’s solo debut.

There’s a good deal of blogging on the Hello! Project front, as well. Beth of Paint it Gold takes a look at this year’s H!P photobooks, with some luscious shots from Mikitty’s new one. Along a similar vein, Cute Cosplay Angels goes back a little to give us highlights from the Gen 6 photobook from when the girls first debuted (as well as a page from the Sakura Gumi photobook?), and then graces us with beautiful shots from Tanaka Reina’s most recent book. Freya of Ai no Tane has been having a Yuko-centric week, first breaking news of the oldest ex-Momusu’s upcoming Christmas concert and then analyzing what’s going on with the recent Haromoni News segments. Johnny of The Mind: My Own Personal Idea Factory concludes his 12 Days of Momusu on the perfect note, a look at the Christmas 2003 Morning Musume 60s girl group medley!

HANABI.1984 of J-Pop CD Cover Art had two major sets this week, Lisa and – starting from her 2002 releases – Misia. On the download front, Miki of COLORS posted one of my all-time favorite PVs, SweetS’ "Love Raspberry Juice". On the jdorama front, Miki also gives a screencap look at episode 9 of 1 Litre of Tears at Miki’s Sorcery, while the dedicated Akiramike of the mighty HamsapSukebe is less than happy with Kiken no Aneki and still very much a fan of Nobuta wo Produce.

Gaki of gaki.org provides a couple of thoughtful posts this week, one on how to study for tests and one on having ads on his blog. The blog ads post was especially interesting for me, as I’ve considered time and again how to make a little money off my "fun" writing and it’s good to hear someone else’s reasoning on this issue.

  2. That’s funny, I checked and it looks like the rest of the post came up for me… Just in case there’s some weird glitch, “one on how to study for tests and one on having ads on his blog.
