And my first thought was: “Why does this remind me of a recent pic…? o_O”

Upon further though, the lightbulb lit over my head and I went searching deeperin to the H!O Miyabi section until I found this, which was posted back on Sept 14 2008…

I know I saw that picture way before this past September, and upon further search, I found her in the same outfit here - from a pic posted in October 2007.

I just have to say, that first pic foreshadows Miya’s future… XD She was being molded to be in Buono! from quite a young age.. And as I say with every little Miya to current Miya progression, she’s moved from adorble to hawt quite nicely!

In addition to beings absolutely ecstatic about that fact, I held out the major hope that the FC event would eventually be released on DVD, and we would get the chance to WATCH Miya perform that amazing song, and the other songs that she sang so wonderfully on the fan audio that was shared.

Well, my wish has come true, and the FC DVDs are now available for download!!! I just finished the 2nd DVD content a few hours ago…. The second DVD being my number one priority because, well, Miya was on that DVD. XD I have already gone through and cut out the songs, and added a lovely little clip in the middle simply because Miya is so gosh darn cute!! <3

What can I say that I didn’t say on the previous post… I already commented on her performances… All I can add is that Miya’s so pretty, but I say that in pretty much every post on this blog. XD

AAAHHHHHH!!!! MASAYUME!!!! I’m telling you, my torrent was going bonkers and teasing me. I got to less than 1 minute, and when I noticed that, the time remaining suddenly decided it wanted to increase… from 30 seconds, to 45, to a minute, to 3 minutes, to infinity… XD I wanted to cry. But eventually, it loved me again!!

I just had to add this in because it would be a travesty to ignore all of the kawaiiness that Miyabi exudes in these few seconds… <3

One of the competitions was… A COOKING COMPETITION!! And what were they cooking? Eggs!! … So, obviously, the first thing that came to mind was “Has Miyabi improved on her cooking of eggs since the last time?”

So, I chopped out Miya’s bit so everyone could see for themselves how it went.

I must say, as I watched her put in:

1 sugar… That’s okay…

2 sugars… I guess it’s still okay… There were a few eggs in there.

3 sugars… Hmm, I wonder how sweet it is with three.

Um, that’s 4 sugars… Does Miya remember what happened last time? XD

Oh good, she’s beating the eggs now. All done with the sugar… right?

Or not… XD 5 sugars into the eggs. o_O

So, as I was saying… As I watched her put in 5 packets of sugar into the eggs, I started to get a little worried. But, at least this time she didn’t put the eggs onto the pan and then dump a crapload of sugar onto them… Letting the sugar caramelize. XD

She put her egg together so carefully though. I must say I was impressed as I watched Miya add the eggs gradually. GO MIYA!

What a pretty final product… Err, well, how pretty can eggs be? XD

And what were the judges taste test reactions?

Well, Captain’s reaction here is a lot better than last time. LOL

And, I think that’s a thumb’s up from Maimi… Well, she definitely made happy eating sounds. Not captured so well in pictures

And the final verdict from the wonderful judges?

What’s that? Who won? 3 points? WURD! GO MIYA! Seeing the results of this, I say Miya’s highly improved, or Chinami totally brought her down last time… Or maybe a little bit of both. XD

I looked up the translation for this song, and it really has nothing to do with celebrating one’s birthday… BUT, the title is “Today is my Birthday” and today is Miya’s birthday… And Miya’s singing in this performance, so…. Really it makes sense to post this video, in a twisted sort of way. XD

Up next, is my little creation in honour of Miya’s birthday. I’ve mentioned Wotachat in my main blog a few times, but I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here.

Wotachat is a chat room in IRC where many International Wota readers and contributors, as well as some non blogger/blog readers gather to chat about pretty much anything J-culture related (and other random topics as well). A great many H!P fans frequent that room, and you can be sure that H!P will be talked about multiple times in a day.

Originally, wotachat was hosted by pengie of unchained, but this past April (nearly May), we moved over to IRC (on the Rizon server, channel #wotachat). Upon moving to IRC, I quickly started using my old IRC client and set up some remotes to respond to certain words said in chat. One of them is the word “Miya” or “Miyabi” (or “Natsuyaki”). If someone says one of those three things, my nick will automatically respond with “MI.YA.FOR.THE.WIN”. This response has a tune in my head - it goes along with the “A.I.SHI.TE.RU” or “DA.KI.SHI.ME.TE” from Buono!’s ‘Kiss!Kiss!Kiss!’ single.

So, come Miya’s birthday, I got the idea to make a song for Miya, set to the tune of ‘Kiss!Kiss!Kiss!’ because I already had one line ready to go… XD So, this is me, singing a birthday song for Miya.

Please take note that I am a horrible lyricist. Also, recording this song made me realize how difficult ‘Kiss!Kiss!Kiss’ is to sing. I’ve sung it a million times, but hearing it recorded really lets you hear where you screw up. It still sounds screwed up to me, but I don’t have any time left to fix it*… XD The jumps from high to low pitch are so tricky, and I’ve never taken vocal lessons, so… Yea, tricky. Particularly the 7 semitone jumps up and down in the prechorus. Those tried to kill me. As did the chorus. XD Forgive the first line.. I don’t know what happened.

Anyway, without further ado, here’s the birthday song!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIYA!

*NOTE: I’m actually typing this on Friday morning (around 2:30 am becaue I’m going camping this weekend and won’t have the time to do it otherwise - yes that means that Saturday and Sunday’s posts were also written today).

On the day before Miya’s birthday, I thought I’d embed Miya’s performance of Aya’s ‘Zutto Suki De Ii Desu Ka” from Hello Pro Hour.

Now, this is probably my favourite H!P song EVER. Originally done by my favourite H!P artist EVER. So, it’s hard for anyone to live up to the standard I hold this song to other than Aya herself. And not even Miya is an exception to this.

Overall, she doesn’t do too badly, but I find her precisely enunciated and very staccato “eien” a little awkward sounding. And she has a moment at around 2:06 where her voice cracks. You can see her flinch (well, it’s more like an extended blink, but I want to call it a flinch) right after it, which I find cute… I flinch every time my voice cracks too, particularly when I’m singing at church.

She actually sang this song with Aya there, seeing as Aya was the host of that episode of Hello Pro Hour. I say good on her, for I think that singing the song in front of the original artist would be pretty nerve-wreaking, for that person set the standard… I really wouldn’t want to screw up in that case. XD

I know that I had this clip somewhere on my computer, along with the baton twirling she did and that Aya attempted… But it disappeared, thus the Youtube embed. I’ll switch it up if I eventually find that clip.

It’s the olympics, and I’m an avid sports fan. I’ve been watching a ridiculous amount of Olympic events and it was that which gave me today’s theme idea: Miya doing sports!

A lot of pics are coming from Miya’s 1st solo photobook, because the two featured sports in there just so happen to be my two favourite sports: tennis and basketball! So, every tennis/basketball photo has been included here. XD

Hehe… I was so happy when I saw Miya got basketball as her sport in the first album artwork.

I used to be a baseball fan… Then the Toronto Blue Jays started losing, and Kelly Gruber stopped playing for the team. XD

Okay, I get that this is a concert outfit and has nothing to do with sports… But when I first saw them, the puffy pad things that jut out of these costumes totally made me think of football, so this gets included (and it’s orange… XD).

Okay, so I know Miya’s awesome… But that’s just playing mean attacking a teammate like that. XD No need t make the internal competition physical, Momoko.

And Miya got promoted to the senior team when the little people one ended. Except, last I checked, Miya was no longer on the Gatas roster… o_O

The angle is a little awkward here, and I sooo wish there was more than one shot in her photobook with her in this outfit… Well, more than one shot of her facing forward.

Even though Tsukiatteru isn’t one of my favourite Berryz songs, I do love the outfits, and Miya looks quite fetching in her outfit. Also, I think it’s absolutely awesome that they’re playing Tsukiatteru at the olympics… I’ve heard it a few times while watching swimming and diving.

This is a really recent photo of Miya in a kimono, and I must say she’s looking gorgeous in this light pink ensemble (imagine me, saying that of something pink… But Miya can pull it off XD).

When I say “the girls”, I mean Miya and Risako. I had a conversation fairly recently about Risako and someone was saying what a brat Risako is… I don’t quite agree with that. Yes, she gets too many lines, IMO, but she sells. It’s not her fault. I actually find her quite and funny here.

It probably helps that Miya is there with her, and constantly makes fun of the youngest Berryz member (in a joking and friendly manner, of course).

I love Miya making fun of Risako and making her act ridiculous while recording at the start, as well as teasing Risako about her eyebrows now versus how they were during the making of their first album. Miya can be so evil… But she does evil in such a cute manner, it’s awesome!

It’s cute to see Miya and Risako’s close relationship here (and in extention their friendship with Captain as well - Ribbon Gumi is so cute! XD). The “things [they] are proud of” are each other… How adorable is that? Squeee!

I love watching videos like this, because in PVs I read so many reviews with people saying that Miya does well enough, but she just has no personality when compared to sillier members of Berryz (ex. Chinami, or Maasa in the latest Berryz PV - which I have only watched twice, I think). Not fooling around and being silly doesn’t translate to no personality to me. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy the sillier personalities of Berryz in PVs, but Miya’s silly side comes out behind the scenes… I find there’s nothing wrong with being professional for releases - it’s not like Miya is stoic and shows no emotion… She’s just not silly. She’s still awesome, no matter what, though. XD

First up, let’s take a look at her singing ‘Pittari Shitari X-mas’ with Chinami and Maasa.

This isn’t the strongest vocal performance of Miya’s, but it’s definitely not her worst either. She goes a bit flat at points, but is usually able to bring it back into key pretty quickly. However, she definitely fives the strongest performance of the three girls here. Miyabi looks so cute here, and this is such a fun Christmas song with adorable choreography! And just a note… Maasa’s “Santa-saaaaan!!” kinda scares me… XD

Up next, we have a Christmas performance of Berryz Koubou’s fan favourite, ‘Munasawagi Scarlet’. What’s special about this performance is that Miya’s in a reindeer outfit!!!

I first saw this performance when zush linked to it on Berryz Kobo International and I remember that it just absolutely made my day. What can beat Miya being absolutely adorable in a reindeer outfit while dancing to the quirky choreography of ‘Munasawagi’?
