The Saving Grace In An Otherwise Butchered ‘Hare Ame Nochi Suki’
I was chatting with Second Blossoming on wotachat yesterday, and we got to talking about live performances of Sakura Gumi’s ‘Hare Ame Nochi Suki’.
This of course brought up the performance from the Hello! Project 2007 Winter concert, where Miya was part of a group that sang ‘Hare Ame Nochi Suki.’ Unfortunately, the girls with her (excluding Maimi, IMO) butchered this beautiful song. Yui makes my ears bleed in this performance… HOWEVER, Miyabi was stellar in her performance (excluding a little blip during her “nee”). Her high part in “nee hare dooriame nochi SUKI” more than made up for it!

Isn’t Miya just so cute?
Unfortunately, the youtube video of this performance is no longer available for viewing, and since Second Blossoming doesn’t have this concert available to him (for he is a fairly new H!P fan), I dug up the concert, converted it from .mkv to .mpg (my converting software alters the aspect ratio for some reason) to .flv and am posting it here, so everyone can enjoy Miya’s wonderful perfomance together!
I just have to say that I loved this concert. The cosplaying/anime style outfits were quite cute for the most part (though one of the costumes in this video clip was mentioned in celestia’s latest Costume Hall of Shame post), and I think Miya looks adorable in hers.
BAH! That’s 2 posts for SB on this blog already… >_< SB, you better appreciate this! ![]()
As Aya said…
OHHHHHHH YEAH OHHHHH OH YEAAAAAAAH!

Honestly, thanks maize, im watching it now. I really wanted to see Miya sing this brilliant love song…hopefully her brilliance will shine over the other girls who “butchered?” this song. If I can cautiously use this word.
I think butchered is too strong of a world, more like……bleh i dont know what to say.
Thanks heaps maize

Yeap, Yui ruined the song, hands down. Sorry girl, your boobs couldn’t save you this time.. Same with Maasa…she couldn’t even say “suki” right…poor girl…
Tsuji is no Aichan thats for sure, but at least she held it together…
Just one minor flaw for Miya, at the end “I Love for what you are” on the “are” she kinda cracks?
But damn, i totally agree, Maimi held it together extremely well and sang wonderfully, although i would like to hear her sing this song, now, since her voice has improved.
The other biyuuden girl, forgot her name, didn’t do too well either.
But Miya, her final line, omg. wow. What a contrast to Yui. Hit the notes perfectly…
especially that suki~….
Thanks Maize.
Hopefully they will sing this song again soon.

@SecondBlossoming: No worries. I’m always happy to help out a fellow fan!
I’ll concede that not everyone butchered the song… But that’s the word I tend to use when people screw with my favourite songs… XD Like if people have a mistake with a song in the middle of my “like” list, I couldn’t care less. But if you mess with songs like ‘Hare Ame’ which is near the top of my favourite H!P songs of all time list, then I get touchy…
However, I do feel that Yui butchered the song… Her vocal control isn’t good enough for this song. It was shaking and awkward sounding. I’ve seen Tsuji perform much better than she did here, so I’ve got a bit of beef with her for screwing up this song… Erika was okay, but I didn’t like her “oooh” in her last line. Maasa wasn’t that great with either of her lines, while Risako was okay with her first, but not her second. And I liked Maimi here.
Maybe I should have written this out in the post, but then it would steer away from the “Miya gushing” that this blog is supposed to be filled with… XD

Definitely one of Tsunku’s finest songs ever written! It really shows how great the original group was to get all of the vocals right! Sakuragumi beats Otomegumi every day of the week and twice on Sunday for me!…although I do love “Ai no sono~touch my heart!~” too! I haven’t watched their DVD in what seems like ages….now you’ve inspired me to go get them off the shelf! Funny this was way before I even knew what a blog was and I was living in my own H!P world pretty much all alone…I wonder if I should post some of Sakuragumi’s concert clips and pvs….maybe tomorrow…

It’s amazing how much Miyabi blows almost every every H!P vocalist out of the water, this video being a prime example.
Also, Maimi’s voice is so cute. : 3

@MorningBerryz: A late response, I know, but I’m catching up from being away for a week… XD Anyway, I agree. This is definitely one of Tsunku’s best! And Sakura Gumi > Otome Gumi, no doubt in my mind! ^_^
@Zac: Miyabi > all of H!P (minus Aya, if I want to stay true to my Ayaya post)! … err… that is… take that statement with a grain of salt, for I am biased (OBVIOUSLY XD). And Maimi <3! ^_^
