I’ll Eat Your Sweet Omelette Miya…
I was talking with Ray of American Wota yesterday and he mentioned to me that episodes 19-28 of Berikyuu! feautred a cooking competition between Berryz members Miyabi, Momoko and Chinami versus C-ute members Maimi, Kanna and Airi.
That makes me want to go and watch those episodes, and I will fairly soon, for I have all Berikyuu! episodes ready and waiting to be watched. However, it also brought to mind the last time I saw Miyabi participate in a cooking competition and the hilarity that ensued.

So this post is a tribute to Miya’s silly side. What I love here is that of the four girls involved Miya is the most animated. The screencaps to follow simply cannot do justice to the goofyness that Miya demonstrates here, so at the end of the post, there’s also a video file of the cooking competition. The only problem is that the subs are small and may be slightly difficult to read.
I don’t quite know where this came from, or when exactly it was filmed, but that doesn’t take away from my enjoyment of this video clip!

They look ready to take this task seriously, don’t you think? XD

Captain and Maasa didn’t like Miya’s doodle of edamame.

She’s so amused by Captain and Maasa’s bentous name. ^_^

Miya definitely doesn’t hide her amusement.

Chinami failed with the cucumber.

Oh geez.. Should I be posting these? These are horrible photos of Miya… XD

Salt? … Why are you questioning the salt, Miya?

-_-; Oh dear me… Miya doesn’t know how to cook…

… She can’t even turn on the stove. LOL

This is a great Chinami moment… FEAR THE STOVE!!

It turned out pretty! … But sugared eggs…? -_-;

Looks like there’s a general concensus on what it tastes like… XD
So, Miya and Chinami lost. But they lost in such an amusing way, I see it as a win!
I do hope that Miya has improved, however slightly, in her cooking skills since this cooking contest.

hahahahahhahahahahah brilliant!
Oh my god that egg must have tasted like ass LOL. No wonder the egg split so fast…too much sugar…
by god these girls know nothing about cooking…who the hell puts sugar in egg…..

I’m sure Miya has improved her cooking skills since this was recorded. If you have watched some of those most recent cooking competitions etc. we could say that Miya is Iron Chef compared to Momo’s kitchen skills

I’d love to see Miya cook with Sayu….the set would be destroyed! This is such a cute show! I’m not much of a cook either but I don’t think I’d do that to eggs. :O

Just to make sure… You ARE supposed to put sugar in Japanese style omelette. It’s about one spoon of sugar per egg (it tastes great!) - but I think Miya put a bit too much.
But anyway, she’s not as clueless as you think. She did it just like it’s supposed to be done.
I remember watching this (and the other part too)! They were hilarious just not knowing what to do.
But I actually think that they did great! Especially the other teams with Risako, Momoko etc. At that age, if I had just been given some random name of a course I would have never been able to make it without a recipe! Maybe a bentou, that’s not so hard but not the food the others had to do. I couldn’t do anything without a recipe even nowadays. It’s not that easy…

@SecondBlossoming: Looks like we don’t know much about Japanese cooking… XD (see Andra’s comment above). But still, looks like a mistake was still made, which makes it so funny!
@Kirarin☆Snow: I don’t know what the third line of text says.. XD However, I feel like having some egg now - salt, not sugar, for me!
@zush: I’ve only seen Miya vs. Maimi from the Berikyuu cooking competition so far. You can’t screw much up when you’re making salad (though a girl at my work puts WAY too much salt in her salad… It makes me choke XD). But somehow, Miya still lost… T_T
@MorningBerryz: I don’t think I’ve watched Sayu cook, but I’m assuming that she’s not the greatest cook either… LOL XD
@Andra: That’s my bad… I had no idea that you put sugar into a Japanese omelette. That explains why Miya was questioning Chinami when she wanted to put salt into the first omelette they made. XD
I actually haven’t watched the other part in its entirety, mainly because it didn’t have subs and I was at work… I’m not that great a cook myself, but I know my eggs (salted for me), though I’m not much of an omelette person. I need cheese and ham in an omelette - I can’t do just an egg alone. Eggs over-easy, on the other hand, are my favourite!!
I also know how to turn on the stove. XD BUt all their quirks just make them that much cuter!

The third line says “Nani!?” It’s also from the video. :-p

I always thought that everybody were also fans of Japanese food - at least myself I am a huge fan.
But it seems it’s not that popular.
They can put salt too… Or soya, and sake or mirin, it depends… I guess there are many ways of making Japanese omelette. But I like a salty “normal” western version (with or without ham and stuff) too! I love eggs.
The other part has also been subtitled, I recommend you look for it! It was just as hilarious as this. :DD Momoko LOL. XD

Sayu made the scariest bento ever for poor Kamei who had to try and eat it! :O So much of it was burnt and she tried to cut out these cute little designs out of hot dogs and other ingredients….it was funny watching her in the kitchen….lots of screaming and running away from the stove! :O
