Tegomass’ new PV is more of the same

TegomassSayonaraNiSayonara

A little over 2 weeks ago the full PV for Tegomass’ new single, Sayonara ni Sayonara was released.

Hey, look at this guys, I’m finally catching up and reviewing PVs that are hardly old now. See, I promised that if you just bared with me I’d get to do all the recent PV reviews. Well, if you follow me on twitter you’d know that’s what I promised. And if you don’t follow me on twitter, actually why don’t you follow me on twitter yet? I’m joking of course. Well, half joking.

I have never really been a big fan of Tegomass, mostly because Tegoshi has always been my least favorite NEWS member. While the whole 2 members leaving situation made me realize that Tegoshi might actually be an ok guy sometimes, I still don’t care for him. And the reason I don’t like Tegomass is because it’s a sub group made up of arguably the most talented singers in NEWS. (I say arguably because it’s a stone-cold fact that Tegoashi always has been the best singer of NEWS, expect for when Kusano was almost overtaking him. But it’s debatable if Massu is second best. Sometimes it feels like Kei-chan and sometimes it feels like Massu) Because they are the best singers they pretty much only get slow songs or ballads to showcase their voices, which I find extremely boring. And since they release ballads it doesn’t make for an eventful PV. And now we’ve come full circle and you can see the opinion I have about the PV.

The PV actually isn’t awful, but it’s not bad either. It’s actually the quality I’ve come to expect from Tegomass. And it’s about as interesting as they could make it since it is such a slow song. They actually do have a clear concept for this PV and it’s actually not a bad idea. 8/10 of this PV consists of Tegomass just sitting by a window as the seasons change. While I did think that was pretty boring just by the PV preview, after seeing the full PV I think it’s actually pretty cool. A year passes by Tegomass, it goes from spring to winter. While the seasons pass it tracks a relationship. Meeting in spring, starting to date in the summer, breaking up in the fall, meeting someone new in the winter, and finally returning to spring where a new love blossoms.

I think those are really really cute scenes. So cute that to me they are really the only scenes the PV needs, and Tegomass’ parts seem kind of unnecessary to me. They spend the entire PV looking out the window at this girl. Sure you could say it’s them kindly watching over her love, but it seems kind of stalkerish to me. Or voyeuristic at the very least. The only part of Tegoshi’s and Massu’s scenes that I do like is that the room inside’s lighting changes to correspond with the new season. And that’s honestly about it.

So, I guess I’m really on the fence about this PV. While I do appreciate the storyline of the girl, I’m left wanting more from Tegomass’ parts. I think if this tracked Tegoshi’s and Massu’s relationships with girls it would have really put this PV over the top for me. You just don’t get that legitimate emotional feel from them just watching a stranger. It would have been so much better for them to look back on their past year.

SayonaraNiSayonara

This is actually really pretty.

SayonaraNiSayonara2

It’s super important to see what’s on the table.

SayonaraNiSayonara3

Massu looks super cute.

SayonaraNiSayonara4

Couldn’t they even have the globe showing Japan? Lol.

SayonaraNiSayonara5

Tegoshi is just not appealing to me in the slightest.

SayonaraNiSayonara6

Tegoshi always tries way too hard to be cute.

SayonaraNiSayonara7

I love how this girl is walking past the window and Tegomass is just doing their own thing and not caring at all.

SayonaraNiSayonara8

No thanks.

SayonaraNiSayonara9

Can someone please explain to me why Massu is wearing two pairs of pants?

SayonaraNiSayonara10

Too cute for words.

SayonaraNiSayonara11

Really wish I knew what this said. But there’s a smiley face and stars, so it has to be good.

SayonaraNiSayonara12

Creepy window Massu sees all.

SayonaraNiSayonara13

Love Massu’s bright smile.

SayonaraNiSayonara14

Tegoshi is wearing a white shirt and an ascot. He looks ridiculous. He literally looks like a French chef.

SayonaraNiSayonara15

The texts are still looking pretty positive.

SayonaraNiSayonara16

Cutie.

SayonaraNiSayonara17

Nice sunflowers.SayonaraNiSayonara18

Massu. *O*

SayonaraNiSayonara19

Gorgeous.

SayonaraNiSayonara20

Love her outfit.

SayonaraNiSayonara21

Aww poor her.

SayonaraNiSayonara22

Good riddance, who wants to go to an opera anyway?

SayonaraNiSayonara23

Another cute outfit.

SayonaraNiSayonara24

Tegoshi is way too into watching her.

SayonaraNiSayonara25

Massu too, for that matter.

SayonaraNiSayonara26

I wonder what’s in the bag.

SayonaraNiSayonara27

Oh, it’s an ugly scarf.

SayonaraNiSayonara28

And it’s spring again.

SayonaraNiSayonara29

What’s on Massu’s ears? They look like earrings, but they aren’t on his lobe.

SayonaraNiSayonara30

And a happy ending.

Tegomass’s magical new PV

The PV for Tegomass’s Mahou no Meldoy was recently released. Which I’m still not 100% sure why they made a PV for this at all. Album songs hardly ever get PVs, but I guess more promotion never hurts.

My love for this PV has triped since seeing the full version. Even though there’s not really much going on in the full version that we didn’t see in the PV previews, but there’s just something about this PV that I love. It’s just a fun and childish PV. Which is what Tegomass is really all about. Well, maybe not Tegoshi, but it’s definitely what Massu is like. The whole PV just has this youthful and happy feeling. Which is a nice change. Nearly all of Tegomass’s PVs are either pretty serious or have underline an underline deeper meaning.
The PV is basically nothing but Tegomassu designing and building a Willy Wonka-esque flying machine. And endearingly failing everytime. However, the close-up scenes when they are wearing their ring leader/Jrock inspired outfits are my favorite scenes. Massu looks absolutely adorable. Tegoshi, of course, looks as feminine as ever.

I just can’t imagine Tegomass ever seriously making schematics.

What’s with the random bird? What are they pirates now?

I hate that all of their PVs make it seem like they are in love with each other. But I guess someone is enjoying the fanservice.

Too much makeup Tegoshi, just too much.

Meanwhile, Massu looks adorable.

Love the random troll band.

This just reminds me of Willy Wonka so much.

I love Massu’s where face.

Tegoshi keeps looking girlier and girlier everytime I see him.

Cute.

I don’t remember Tegoshi ever wearing earings before. Oh, that’s hilarious.

I love their outfits, and lolz at Massu’s jazz hands.

I love how over the top Massu is during his close-ups. Tegoshi is a little flat in comparison.

To such an extent he’s almost creepy.

So womanly.

This is the closest to cute Tegoshi has looked in the entire PV.

I love Massu’s overreaction.

Simply adding wings is totally gonna work Icarus.

Aww.

Pose.

I can’t even right now. Lol.

Magic solves everything.

The super close-up shows just how much makeup Tegoshi is wearing.

Horrible CG.

Tegomass-Mahou no Melody song and PV preview

NEWS sub-unit Tegomass is releasing their 3rd album, Tegomass no Mahou, on October 16th. And to promote the album the first track off their album, Mahou no Melody, is getting a PV. Recently both the PV preview and radio rip for the song have been released.

First up the radio rip. Which is a little crackly, so I appologize for that. Now, I am hardly a Tegomass fan. Half because Tegoshi and Massu are my least favorite NEWS members. (I’d rather have a KoyaShige duo, quite honestly.) And half because all of Tegomass’s songs sound exactly the same. The singles anyway, I haven’t bothered to listen to any of their albums. And Mahou no Melody isn’t any different I’m afraid. It follows the same bland slow paced love song pattern they always sing. Singing wise, the song sounds incredible. Tegomass harmonize beautifully together. And Tegoshi is one of the best singers in JE, so he could sing just about anything and it would sound amazing. It’s a shame that the music for this song is so bland. I wish I could say that this song sounds like a B-side, but this song is actually a lot more upbeat then some of their A-sides. I just don’t like this song at all. The only time the song actually picks up is the chorus. And even then the song is just medicore. However, this song will most likely grow on me. Tegomass’s songs might be bland, but they end up having incredibly cute lyrics.

And finally the PV previews. About 3 or 4 morning shows have shown the PV preview for Mahou no Melody. Luckily I found a video with all of them mashed together.
I didn’t think it was possible, but I absolutely hate the song but love the PV. Half of the PV shows Tegomass wearing exaggerated, overly colorful, ringleader inspired outfits. While the band behind them are wearing polka dresses and gnome hats. Which is absolutely incredible. I love every minute of it. They are really taking the magic theme and going with it because the PV looks pretty fanciful. The rest of the PV features Tegomass on a random flying machine, that reminds me a bit of the machine in Willy Wonka that shot soap on everyone. (I wish I could remember what it was called, but I haven’t seen that movie in a good 6-10 years.) Which adds to the childish, and magical theme of the PV.
But probably the best part of this whole PV is we finally get a PV with Massu’s red hair. I’m nowhere near a fan of Massu, but he looks the absolute best with red hair. He moves from a 4 to probably a 7 with red hair. He’s still to overly cute for my taste though.

Tegomass – Tegomass no Mahou[w/ DVD, Limited Edition]

Happy belated holidays!

So, I’m back from my short holiday break I took from my blog. Which I pretty much forgot to mention I was taking. So a few of my posts have been pushed back, like my Koharu Kusumi 3rd album review I wrote on December 21st. Also my Christmas songs were pretty much a bust, since I only managed to get two done. But I suppose I’ll save the rest of the Christmas songs for next year. Sorry. XD

Anyway, Merry Chrsitmas, Happy New Year, Happy Hanukkah! And everything in between. Better late then never. Also if anyone is interested about my personal Christmas I posted an album on my facebook. Here’s the link.

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=618274847&ref=profile#/album.php?aid=78246&id=618274847

And to make this post a little bit more Jpop related, a NEWS forum I am on had a duet singing contest. Which I unfortunately didn’t win. The song we sang was Ai Ai Gasa by Tegomass. So here’s the song if anyone wants to hear.

I sang Tegoshi’s parts, or if you’re not familiar with Tegomass I’m the one who sings second.

So of course LOTS of things H!P related have happened since my last post. So you know what that mean, post spam! You know you love my massive update spams. :]
