What I’ve missed, how I feel, and what’s to come

SK

Now that I’m back to blogging you’d think I’d have everything perfectly thought out. And you’d be absolutely wrong. I’m like a chicken with my head cut off. I’m running around here in such a daze. I’m like a coma patient who’s suddenly woke up after 6 and a half months who is trying to catch up to all the news he’s missed in the time he was out. Except I was awake the entire time and remember everything, so I’m not like a coma patient at all. It’s like I was looking into a big window…you know what I can’t even get my metaphors in order how am I expected to quickly get my blog in order? Let’s just say it’s not as easy as you’d think.

I’m at this point where I’m not sure if I’m supposed to address everything I’ve missed or pretend nothing has happened and pretend this is a new blog and I start from day 1. Get your tissues ready, because I’m going to do the second one. Mostly because it’s the easiest option. But don’t fret I am still going to go over some important opinions on the big things that I’ve missed. But it’s going to be extremely watered down. because let’s be honest I can’t fully remember every emotion I was feeling at the time and I can’t remember absolutely everything I should have been blogging about. So, let’s break this down by agency.

Hello!Project:

H!P3

As you know H!P is my first great idol love and absolutely nothing or nobody can touch it or top it. Now, I’m sorry if that seems extremely biased. But at the same time I make no apologizes. EVERY idol fan has that one group or one agency they consider their number one. Since I personally follow about 20 idol groups and cover about 25 on this blog in total, give me a break.

That being said it’s mostly to say that I still have very fluffy warm feelings for H!P. However, I am starting to get extremely bored with H!P’s song being more and more interchangeable. For a while H!P groups had a distinct sound. C-ute was the group focused on intense dancing so you could expect great dances and dance numbers from them. Berryz Koubou was this quirky, funky group that got the songs you’d never expect them to get because of their age. It was the group where H!P really went all out and took risks with their music. S/mileage was this full dose of sugary idol cuteness and fun. And perfectly balanced things out and is also my personal favorite type of music. Buono was this interesting rock sound. Morning Musume is this unique entity where there sound is usually constantly changing. You could have a ska song, a mature song, and a dubstep song in close proximity and for some reason it worked. And then Juice=Juice stepped on the scene and we got this jazzy adult themed group which was a breathe of fresh air.

Now, that’s H!P at it’s best to me. But the current state of H!P is nowhere near that glory. Instead every single group is making the same song. It’s danceable, it’s electronic, it’s probably got some autotune, and it’s absolutely mature. Where’s the variety in that? Every once in a while Berryz will throw us a fun song. But it’s not really enough. And S/mileage’s fun songs like Yattaruchan and Ee ka even sound too mature for a fun song. And who’s bright idea was it to give J=J a bland and too sweet song like Hajimete wo Keikenchuu? And don’t even get me started on how they really need to bring Buono back already.

That’s how I feel about the music. And I honestly feel like everyone else loves the overall sound. But why? Hasn’t the dance thing been done to death in H!P? Sadly, I think we’ve got a few more years of this. So, there’s not much I can do about that. I just have to hope when the 12th gen comes or that other Kenshuusei group were promised ever gets formed they’ll inject some much needed young flare. But H!P and Tsunku like to screw us around because they know where in too deep to really make a stink about it.

MM2

That being said my love for Morning Musume has skyrocketed. Morning Musume has always been my favorite H!P group and lately my love for them has been on full blast. Just because I am so incredibly proud of my girls. They are working so hard and it really shows in their improved singing and dancing. They are also slowing clawing their way back to their former glory. They are getting consecutive number one singles, they are getting more opportunists to perform on music shows. They were on Music Station for God’s sake. They are even singing the theme for the Japanese Olympic team. Like wow they are doing so well. And honestly just thinking about this makes me so so happy for them. That I’ve loved this girls for years, and loved them during what’s considered their lowest point in history, and the masses are finally starting to see what’s so great about them. And I honestly couldn’t be happier or more proud.

Johnny’s:

Arashi2

I honestly can’t remember the last things I said about Johnny’s before I took my “hiatus.” But I can say that my love fro Arashi has exploded, but I’m not sure when it started. But Arashi is my absolute top Johnny’s group now. Standing well above the rest. Completely smashing former NEWS to pieces. Though anyone that has ever read my blog is well aware why that wasn’t exactly a hard thing to do. But I love Arashi so much now that it’s hard to ever think of a time when I didn’t. I have so much love for them that it’s impossible to think of how there was ever a time I liked another group more than Arashi. If this 6 month break did anything it was give me enough time to watch a good chunk of Arashi’s variety shows. Way more than I’d seen before. And that’s where the attachment formed. I now consider Arashi to be on the same level as Morning Musume. And if you don’t know anything about me just know that that is HUGE. I’ve said a few times before if I could only listen to 2 idol groups for the rest of my life I would be completely satisfied with Arashi and Morning Musume being them.

Koki

KAT-TUN, oh KAT-TUN where do I even start about? Did you know they actually lost a member? Imagine that? Oh, it was Tanaka Koki, totally not a big deal at all. Except this was the absolute worst thing to happened to KAT-TUN ever. This was the most devastating lose that Johnny’s has experienced since I became a fan. Who cares if Eggplant, dead fish eyes, poison tongue, and smoke stacks left or where fired from their groups. They all stayed within the agency. Except for chimney but hey we still have his brother who was obviously the real golden boy within the Morimoto brothers. This is Koki we’re talking about. Koki, my beloved Koki. Also known as Tanaka the absolute only reason I’ve ever listened to or cared about KAT-TUN in the slightest Koki. This is a gigantic heartbreak. Koki was one of my favorite Johnny’s members of all time.

And I’ll say it when he was officially fired I did cry. Not full water works. More like I teared up and maybe had a Crybaby moment. (Remember cause he could only cry one tear? No? Go watch the movie then.) It all started with me finding his newest penis pictures released scandal hilarious. Of course right after that legions of fans were whining that this meant the end for him. And with my usual flippant attitude I went, “Nah, that’ll never happen.” Well, someone please remind me to never say that because I’ve never been right about anything ever. (Except calling that Akanishi Jin was leaving KAT-TUN and Arihara Kanna was getting the boot from C-ute)

His firing hit me like a ton of bricks. So, I’m at this weird moment where I have absolutely no reason to listen to KAT-TUN anymore. As you’ll recall I said the same thing about NEWS when Ryo and Yamapi left. But I can honestly say that this time feels different. With NEWS I loved NEWS as a whole first and Ryo second. With KAT-TUN I loved Koki first and KAT-TUN second. So, I don’t know anymore. Hearing his rap cut from the recent episode of Music Station hurt. A lot.

HeySayJUMP

I actually don’t really have anything important to say about the other Johnny’s groups other than: NEWS’ Seven Colors is mediocre and release a new single already! And Hey! Say! JUMP is finally getting a new single, and my beloved Keito actually has a line. Stop the world.

AKB48 and sister groups:

AKB48

I’m gonna be honest with you if I’m not blogging about these groups I don’t pay attention to them that often on my own. I blog about them 90% for my dear readers. As I’ve said 100 times now. However, I do admit I’ve become increasingly addicted to Kitagawa Kenji for the past couple of months. I always thought I just liked SKE48 more than AKB48. But I’ve come to the conclusion that every other group is just better than AKB48. I’m sorry but AKB48 is too used sitting on the female idol throne that they don’t even try anymore musically. It’s SKE48 and NMB48 that have the interesting and fun songs now. Since they are working hard to forge their own name and get out of AKB48’s shadows.

Other idol groups:

Dream5

I have to admit I find it pretty difficult to keep up with the other groups I follow if I’m not blogging about them. Usually I’d have to make sure I checked up on them frequently so I could immediately make a post for my lovely readers. But left on my own I don’t find out about new singles until the PV is out. And I don’t find out about new PVs until about a week or two after they were released. Which is not really good.

MomoCLo

So how do I feel about some of these groups? I’m glad you asked. Momoiro Clover Z is back to impressing me. Coming off of their pretty disappointed 5th Dimension album, their newest single Gounn blew me away. I am in love with absolutely everything about SUPER GiRLS newest singles. I think the songs they chose to cover were perfect, and I of course love that my beloved Ami got her own solo.

Fudanjuku

Surprisingly I’ve been pretty addicted to Dream5. If you recall before I stopped blogging I said how I discovered 3 new idol groups to love, Dream5 being one of them. Well I am absolutely enamored by them. Their music is fun, upbeat, energetic, and happy. I feel completely at ease and in high spirits just listening to them. Hibi Mikoto has become my favorite member because of her adorable voice and her adorable face. She kind of looks like a mouse, but in a cute way. Fudanjuku has become another one of the new groups that I have been following pretty closely. Danso Revolution has be come one of my favorite songs lately. And I am still having confusing and conflicting feels about Seto Kouki.

So, that’s very quickly my thoughts and feelings on some things. So, what’s o come you ask? Well you can still look forward to the same PV reviews, news pieces, over analyzations, and thought out blog entries you’ve come to love and expect from JM over the years. You can also look forward to my December staples, my idol Christmas picspam and my end of the year countdown. This year may be different, but keep in mind I make no promise. Someone on twitter suggested I do a top 100 singles countdown.

IdolSongs

Since there are close to 100 idol singles of groups that I follow released this year. Let’s see if I’m crazy enough to take the challenge.

I also had a good rant about Sakurai Sho and Johnny’s marriage on twitter. I feel like I can expand that a bit and make it into a really thought out blog post. So, if you’ve read the main points already on twitter I’m sorry. But if you haven’t read it yet, come on man don’t seek it out and spoil it for yourself.

KAT-TUN – Face To Face PV preview

KAT-TUN

The short version for KAT-TUN’s upcoming new single, Face To Face, was recently released. I wish I could say something snazzy like this is the first peek of the PV us fan are getting, but sadly it’s not. And even shorter PV preview was released a few days ago, but I never got around to making the post about it so, my bad. If you don’t know already, Face to Face is being used as the theme for Kamenashi Kazuya’s new movie Ore Ore. Which, on an irrelevant note, I’m actually really looking forward to seeing.

After watching the short version of the PV I am completely impressed at how well made  and seemingly expensive it looks. Even if the PV is cheaply made it is incredibly creative. Probably one of the boldest and original PVs KAT-TUN has really ever released. It’s certainly leaps and bounds above the sorry excuse for a PV that was the Expose PV. And this is really about all you’ll get out of my about the PV until the full version comes out and I make my review for it. Because why would you even bother reading that if I gave all my opinions about it now?

Moving away now from the quality opinions and onto more shallow ones. I’d like to say that my god the guys look gorgeous. They look absolutely perfect in those black and burgundy outfits. And is it just me or has Taguchi been looking absolutely delictable lately? All of this recent magazine spreads have made me look at him in a whole new light. And of course I have to talk about my baby Koki. Koki you’re gorgeous and all, but dear god cut you’re hair. You’re long overdue for a haircut. Or at least wear it in that pulled back hairstyle you’ve been doing lately that looks 100 times better. Also, I thought Koki was wearing a skirt in this PV. I was about to say, “Are you doing your best Massu impression?” But then I realized it’s not a skirt at all, it’s just his shirt is about 2 feet too long.

Also, am I the only one who wished they were wearing those scruffy pirate outfits from their Entag commercial? Seems like such a wasted opportunity.

Shocking exposé of KAT-TUN’s expose

KAT-TUNExpose

A few weeks ago the full PV for KAT-TUN’s recent single, Expose, was released.

And that means I’ve bringing you another installment of “PVs I put off reviewing because they are far too boring.” This time it’s obviously KAT-TUN’s PV. Also, this obviously isn’t really an expose, but I couldn’t pass up making that pun.

Is it just me or are KAT-TUN’s PVs getting more and more boring? KAT-TUN seem to be releasing extremely cheap PVs, then once you can’t take it anymore they throw you a few decent PVs just so you won’t lose interest completely. But right after that it’s back to horrible cheap PVs. To me it seems that H!P PVs are so cheap because they don’t want to spend too much money on a PV for a single that’s not going to sell all that well. But with Johnny’s it seems they make cheap PVs because their singles do sell a lot, and they’re still going to sell the same no matter how cheap the PV is so they figure why make an expensive PV?

Now, as a pretty critical fan I don’t really like cheap PVs. Well, I don’t think anyone actually likes cheap PVs. But they’re obviously a non-issue for most people since they keep making them. Curse you domestic fans who don’t care about PV quality. And since I actually do care about PVs, I’m going to continue to rip this PV, and any other cheaply made PV, to shreds.

When I first watched this PV I almost couldn’t believe this what they think passed for a PV. Most of the PV is shot from overhead, which is extremely annoying. It’s kind of like the effect of you looking down at KAT-TUN from a telescope. So they either look like ants you can barely make out, or you can actually see them clearly but the angle makes them looked squished and terrible. Not only is that bad enough, but they are also standing in what can be compared to a cave. Because they are in almost complete blackness and standing on water. The black backdrop and only having light shine on the members makes them fade completely into the background.

Luckily, that cave looking set only lasts for about 1/4 of the PV and they do lighten things up a bit. However, that just means they take the same exact water set they are on and turn into a day time set. Also, don’t forget to add some CG fog and and a CG rippling water effect that looks so obviously fake. And half of this KAT-TUN PV consists of them just splashing around in water. I thought I was watching Morning Musume’s Shabondama PV for a second.

There’s also this intense minute long rain scene for absolutely no reason. Seriously, it serves no purpose at all in the PV other than adding another water related element. I guess it technically clears things up a bit, because right after that they’re standing in front of some giant wooden bird that they bored from Arashi’s Lotus PV.

What I find so funny about this PV is how intense the members look throughout it. As if this PV is more serious than them just splashing around in water.

EXpose

There’s nothing I like more than fog you can’t see through.

Expose2

No, no it’s not hard to see them at all.

Expose3

Are you serious right now?

Expose4

Well, at least you can see the splash clearly. They know what the fans want.

Expose5

Oh look it’s my beloved Koki, I wonder how he looks in the PV? Too bad I have no idea.

Expose6

At this point these are close-ups.

Expose7

Kokame shot. Sorry couldn’t resist.

Expose8

There’s no dance so that lets Taguchi do whatever that’s about in the back.

Expose9

Yeah splash that water around intensely.

MorningMusumeShabondama

Because after all, all love is just soap bubbles.

Expose10

I’m sick of all the splashing already.

Expose11

Can’t stand that this is how close it gets.

Expose12

Well, this does make it easier to see. But I still don’t like it.

Expose13

Oh man, this PV is so intense.

Expose14

Taguchi’s been looking pretty cute lately. So, I’m sad that you can’t even see him clearly.

Expose15

Kame manages to look good from pretty much any angle.

Expose16

So, we can finally see them clearly, but now too much fake sun is blocking them. Why must you toy with me like this?

Expose17

That face.

Expose18

Why does it look like rain mixed with snow?

Expose19

So close to a clear shot.

Expose20

Now they’re just making it took bad on purpose.

Expose21

Ok, creepy wooden thing.

Expose22

Yeah, this is the face I’ve been waiting the entire PV to see.

Expose23

This too.

Expose24

Finally!

Expose25

So, it’s a bird.

ArashiLotus

Too bad Arashi’s already done that.

Expose26

I have admit, these scenes are pretty cool.

Expose27

Koki’s such a cutie.

KAT-TUN – Expose preview

About a week ago the radio rip for KAT-TUN’s upcoming single, Expose, was released.

I actually meant to make this blog post sooner, but it actually slipped my mind. So, I’m sorry about that. But there’s no reason to dwell on that now.

I am really impressed with not only this song, but KAT-TUN lately. They’ve really been stepping it up lately. These last 3 singles have been incredible and each new single is better than the last one. And this single is honestly KAT-TUN’s best single to date. I know I just said that about To The Limit, but I wasn’t expecting this single at all.

The song is just really powerful and has a a nice hard rock instrumental. It also has a nice toughness to the way that it’s song. Especially the chorus. I think they’re literally saying wake up beating. I also love really love the way that they had the very last note, it’s the best part of the entire song.

KAT-TUN to release new single

It was recently announced that KAT-TUN will be releasing a new single.  The new single is entitled Fumetsu no Scrum and will be released on September 12th. Fumetsu no Scrum  will also be the theme song to Yasuda Shota’s drama Dragon Seinendan. And if that wasn’t enough the first press regular edition will come with a Tanaka Koki solo song and solo PV. But KAT-TUN fans don’t need to worry, because other members will get their own solos and PVs in future KAT-TUN releases.

Can I just say, I am super excited. Not so much about a new KAT-TUN single really, but the fact that Koki gets to start this off with his solo and PV. I think I’ve mentioned a few hundred times on this blog that Koki is my absolute favorite KAT-TUN member, and pretty high on my overall Johnny’s ranking. So, of course I’m happy about this. Fellow Koki fans, let us rejoice now.

I really wanna know what song it’s going to be. Koki currently has 2 unreleased solos: Anarchist and Shorty. But people are saying it’s a new song. It’s really anyone’s guess at this point. And my got if it’s another Make U Wet song I’m gonna be angry. I love Koki and all, but I hate those songs. They try so hard to be hot with oversexualized lyrics, but they’re actually awful. And hilarious and embarrassing to be honest. I actually wouldn’t mind if it was Anarchist. Just because I actually like that song, and I don’t really like the other one.

KAT-TUN-To The Limit PV preview

The PV preview for KAT-TUN’s new single, To The Limit, is out.

I am absolutely in love with this song and I am also pleasantly surprised that the PV matches up to the amazingness of the song. It’s not the type of PV you really expect from an idol group. It’s not even the type of PV you’d expect after hearing the song. But at the same time I think it really works. There’s a lot of effort put into this PV. It seems to have a big budget and a clear storyline. And it’s so different from past KAT-TUN PVs. KAT-TUN usually has pretty decent PVs, but they hardly ever have storylines.

The previews so far show the members of KAT-TUN all being in a bank during a robbery. Kame, Maru, and Koki work there, while Taguchi and Ueda are hostages. It’s a bit of a darker theme compared to the realativly happy or mature PVs KAT-TUN usually makes. And I’m assuming the lyrics of the song work well with the theme. Since they’re most likely about being stretched to the limit in some way. But I don’t speak Japanese, so I have no idea.

The only drawback of this PV are that it’s probably supposed to be taken more seriously then it seems. There are parts of this PV that I can’t help think are adorable or hilarious. Which probably wasn’t the intention at all. Also, I kind of wish Koki worked in the bank itself instead of being a security guard. Him in a suit and glasses would have been pretty sexy. Ridiculous hair or not.

KAT-TUN-To The Limit preview

A preview for KAT-TUN’s upcoming new single, To The Limit, was recently aired on Kame’s radio show.

Anyone and everyone who happens to be reading this post absoultely MUST listen to this radio rip, whether you’re a KAT-TUN or male idol fan or not. This is by far the greatest KAT-TUN singles I’ve ever heard. And it’s easily one of their best, if not the best, songs period. I have listened to this song about 15 times now. I litererally cannot express in words just how completely phenomenal this song is. I mean, the song is so intense that at one point in the song Koki actually says fucking my mind. Now, normally that would be hilarious, but for some reason it actually works in this song.

If I was to describe this song it’s like old school rockish KAT-TUN, but a hundred times better. It’s like if you somehow mixed Real Face, Gold, Taboo, Lips, and Don’t You Ever Stop and played them simultaneously. The song is just absoultely incredible. It just has this amazing blarring rock music but still sort of heavy dance music mixed in at the same time. I have never been this impressed with a KAT-TUN song ever.

I also really love the way it’s sung. Most of the verse is rapping. But it’s not the usual just Koki rapping. Of course Koki does lead the rapping, but everyone else is also rapping. Which actually sounds better than you would expect. Especially since Koki always tries to get the members to rap in concert and only Taguchi could ever really keep up. But of course like most songs the best part is the chorus, but not really by much because the verse and bridge are seriosuly just as good. It’s just that the chorus is sung extremely powerfully. It’s just just amazing. And it sounds like Koki has some solos in the chorus which is amazing. Featuring Koki so much in the song really adds a nice roughness and gruffness to the song. And Koki bias aside, he’s absoultely perfect for this type of song. Of course Kame does have a lot of solos too, he has this big solo part towards the end of the song. But even during group parts you can hear Koki’s voice the most.

KAT-TUN-Lock On PV preview

Recently a PV preview for KAT-TUN’s Lock On, a track from their upcoming album Chain was released.

Can I just say that I wasn’t expecting this album to get a PV. Mostly because JE groups don’t really release PVs for album songs unless they are Arashi. I know KAT-TUN did release a PV for No More Pain, but it seemed like they only did that so they could garner more interest in the album since the album didn’t feature Jin. He was off doing his pre-departure solo concerts. They did also make a PV for the album song You, but that was done to also sell more copies since it was the last album Jin was featured in before he left to study in the US. Obviously KAT-TUN has always revolved around Jin.

I wish I could say that I was impressed or even interested in this PV, but I’m not, not even a little bit. The PV is just so simple and unimaginative. KAT-TUN has released a lot of similar looking PVs in the past, but lately they are taking it to a whole new level. And it honestly feels a bit like deja vu. This is the 3rd PV to feature KAT-TUN dancing in all black with a basically solid white background. The other 2 PVs are of course Ultimate Wheels and Run For You. This is the 5th time they danced with a white background, they other 2 PVs not mentioned before are Signal and Ultimate Wheels. And again with the black outfits! Am I the only one who is sick of KAT-TUN always wearing black in their PVs? This is the 10th time KAT-TUN has worn all black in their PV. Those PVs are: Bokura no Machi de, Star Rider, No More Pain, Run For You, Birth, Ultimate Wheels, Change UR World, Rescue, and One Drop. Not to mention the PVs who’s outfits are nearly all black: Lips, White Xmas, The D-Motion, and half of the Real Face PV. I guess JE really wants to emphasize that KAT-TUN has a cool image. But black in nearly ever single PV they’ve ever released is a bit much. And frankly, I’m sick of it. Surely there’s another way to get their image across clearly. But even though they are dressed exactly the same that they always are, I admit I do like the outfits. But that’s because they’re wearing suit jackets. A pretty straightforward polished look.

The PV also does try to have a storyline, but it’s a little strange and a lot stupid. It focuses around the members of KAT-TUN being in love with robots. But I’ll go deeper into my comments about that aspect of the PV when I do my review of it. The only real plus for this PV so far is how fine Koki looks in it.

KAT-TUN Announces 6th album

It was announced that KAT-TUN will be releasing their 6th album. The album is entitled Chain and will be released on February 22nd.

I’m not really that big of KAT-TUN fan, and that’s mostly because I’m just not into a majority of their albums songs. There are only a few here and there that I actually like. So, I’m not really too excited that they will be releasing another album. I’d honestly be much more excited for another new single.
Let me know when NEWS or Hey! Say! JUMP are finally releasing another album, then you’ll get genuine excitment.

KAT-TUN gives birth to a boring PV

The full PV for KAT-TUN’s upcoming single, Birth, was revealed.

On paper a PV filmed nearly entirely on a roof sounds like the makings of an epic PV. And you’re right it does, but only sometimes. The rooftop scenes in KAT-TUN’s Rescue and Change UR World PVs were great. They added a very entertaining element to their PVs. In the Change UR World PV they were the best scenes, they were maybe even a bit awe inspiring. But the roof scenes in the Birth PV didn’t play out so well. When the PV starts we find the members of KAT-TUN randomly on top of a roof. Some of them are laying done, and some of them are angrily or sitting down aloofly. But redgardless of their positions they look completely out of place, as people usually do when they are on top of buildings. But don’t be bored by the PV just yet, this is also where we see the underline story of the PV. Next to each member is a mysterious silver box. Which they hold onto fro the entire PV yet never explain. How mysterious. Expect not really it actually makes me really angry that they don’t actually explain the magic box. First of the box itself reminds me of the box that random child was holding in the Change UR World PV. What did the Change UR World director work on this PV as well? The best guess I have for the magic box is that KAT-TUN themselves are in the box. As the close-up shoes show the members standing by cheap LED cubes, for no reason I might add. The close-up scenes have absolutely no connection to the PV at all. It’s just one minute they are on the roof and the next they are in what could be mistaken for a club setting.
And if this PV riveting enough, the rest of the transition shots or space filler shots are filled with the members running or a quick overview of the city.
There are exactly 2 things I like in this PV. The scenes were the members are superimposed onto buildings, because the CG is done incredibly well. It looks like they spent a lot of money on those scenes. And I like the dance scenes. Not so much because the dance is spectacular because it’s not. But because I like the lighting during the dance scenes.

Overhead shots of Tokyo! That’s exactly what I want to see while I’m watching a KAT-TUN PV.

Sleeping Kame is adorable.

But yet another PV with a magic box they don’t explain.

All the other members looked inconvenienced by being randomly put on the roof. Maru, however, ends up looking emo.

Taguchi shaved his head on the sides, I just noticed that now. I don’t like it.

Ueda is trying to look so serious here.

Love Koki.

Quick, don’t forget to take your magic box!

Oh good, more shots of the city.

Why in the world do I want to see Kame from the angle? To showcase his outfit more? That is a nice jacket though. XD

WTF did Koki do to his hair? It almost looks like the hair Ryosuke had in the Mayonaka no Shadow Boy PV, except not done as well.

They gave Ueda fake tattoos, why? Or it that a shirt? XD

Cute.

LED cubes for no reason.

Epic jump.

It’s hilarious that even without hair Ueda still looks girly.

Kame looking fine as usual.

This effect is done so seamlessly that it’s perfect.

However, it will always remind me of NEWS’s Cherish PV.

Taguchi looks good here.

WTF is he doing?

Love the flashing lights here.

Lol at his intrigued face.

Right after the boxes flash it then goes to the scenes with them next to the cubes. That has to mean they are trapped in the boxes.

Especially since it flashes between the cubes and pictures of buildings.

KAT-TUN-Birth PV preview

A short PV preview was released for KAT-TUN’s upcoming new single, Birth. And way I saw short, I mean extremely short. The PV preview only lasts for about 20 seconds. So, we can most likely be expecting another in a day or so.

Since the PV preview is so short we hardly get a feel for the PV. So, far all we can see is that is features KAT-TUN on top of buildings. And it also features KAT-TUN’s faces superimposed on skyscrapers. Which immediately reminds me of NEWS’s Cherish PV. But the CG in the Birth PV is significantly better than in the Cherish PV. We also get extremely short close-ups of most of the members. Which is just long enough to see that Kame and Koki look pretty fine in this PV. And that’s honestly about it. The rest of the preview is full of filler shots of the overview of the city.

Here’s the preview skip to 1:30 to see it. I’m sorry about it being in such low quality.

KAT-TUN-Birth radio rip

The full radio rip for KAT-TUN’s upcoming new single, Birth, was released a few days ago.

The full radio rip isn’t really all that different than the preview of the song we heard about a week ago. Besides that we now know that Kame has solos at both the beginning and end of the song, the song sounds pretty much exactly the same. The second half of the song sounds exactly the same, which is a little sad. I was waiting fro some grand high notes. I mean, it’s a Kame centered song let’s hear some of his amazing high note. I was also expecting at least 1 other member to get a solo line. But obviously that doesn’t happen. I actually think at about 2:21 it sounds like Ueda is sining about 3 words solo. But at the same time it also sounds like it could be Kame.
I gotta say the song is really growing on me. Even more than the last time I hear it. After hearing the radip rip about 6 times now, I’m starting to really be a fan of it. Especially the chorus, it’s so catchy. I actually think it’s a much better song than Run For You and White.

KAT-TUN-Birth preview

The first episode of Kame’s drama, Youkai Ningen Bemu, has started airing. So, that means we get to hear a short preview of KAT-TUN’s new single Birth.

When I heard the preview and only Kame got a solo, I thought this was going to be one of those songs where they use a drama as an excuse for the most popular member to sing the entire song. Kind of like they did with Hey! Say! JUMP’s Hitomi no Screen. But I am actually really happy that you do get to hear the other members a lot. Even if it is through group lines. I can’t really complain because the group lines sound absolutely amazing. They are blending together and harmonizing perfectly. And if you listen extremely closely you can hear Koki a lot in the group lines. But I think that’s because right after Kame’s solo line it’s Maru and Koki singing together, then Maru, Koki, and Ueda, then when the chorus hits it’s all the members. Which is great, more Koki screen time in the PV.
When I first heard the song I didn’t like it at all. I was completely disappointed that it’s a giant group song, and that it’s not rock like I was expecting. But after the 5th or 6th listen it really grew on me. While I still wish they song had a rock vibe, I do think it is extremely catchy the way it is. The song is slow paced, but the extra punch from the upbeat music, and the way they put kind of an inflection on the words during the chorus, makes the song interesting. All around I really do like the song. It’s like White with better music.

Here’s the song preview. Enjoy the shamelessly shirtless Kame during the preview for the second episode.

KAT-TUN announces new single

It was announced that KAT-TUN will be releasing their 17th single. The single is entitled Birth and will be released on November 30th. The song will used as the theme song for Kame’s upcoming drama Youkai Ningen Bemu. And poor Ueda who’s drama  drama is being aired the same time doesnt get a KAT-TUN song as his theme. But they can make more money from Kame then they can Ueda. Limited Edition Type B of the single also has a PV and making for a yet to be titled song. Which is exciting, it’s another Love Yourself/The D-Motion situation.

I’m really looking forward to a new KAT-TUN single, mostly because we might get a silver haired Kame in the PV. Since it’s a wig it seems a little unlikely, but I’m still crossing my fingers. Since Kame’s drama seems to have a darker theme, I would love if the single matched that. Something heavy and rockish along the lines of Chang UR World, Lips, or Keep The Faith. I’d even settle for a song like Yorokobi No Uta, which is pretty much upbeat rock music. The only real drawback is that KAT-TUN’s drama theme songs never really have anything to do with the drama itself. Rescue and Love Yourself have really nothing to do with the dramas they are the theme for.

KAT-TUN gets a new variety show

It was just announced that 18 months after the cancellation of their variety show, Cartoon KAT-TUN, KAT-TUN will be getting another one. The title for the show is KAT-TUN no Zettai Manetaku Naru TV, however that title is subject to change. It will start airing Tuesday nights at 11:58pm to 12:29am on NTV, October 18th.
The show is going to be about KAT-TUN showing the guests things that they will want to imitate in hopes of creating new trends. Which ever memeber has something the guests don’t want to imitate will suffer a punishment game.

The show itself doesn’t really sound all that interesting, and I honestly don’t understand the actual point of trying to create new trends. But the punishment game aspect of it is well worth the watch. Hopefully they handel punishment games better than Yan Yan Jump has. YYJ pretty much does nothing but senburi over and over. It’s become so stale that now they usually edit the announcers voice over their reactions.

I am kind of excited that KAT-TUN will be getting another variety show. Since I like KAT-TUN’s personalities far more than I like their music. And Cartoon KAT-TUN was actually a pretty fun show. Let’s hope that this show actually lasts.

KAT-TUN Rescue PV preview

And with a flash KAT-TUN’s next single, Rescue, is being released. It’s coming out on March 11th, which is exactly one month after their last single’s release. And to hold us over until the PV comes out we have a 15 second Dwango commercial.

They don’t really show you that much. Since it’s such a short amount of time you mostly see close ups of the members. Which isn’t really a bad thing. But what really stood out to me was the dance. It looks pretty cool, and has some awesome kicking part.

Another thing that stands out are the female dancers. That you could blink on miss them, but they’re there. It’s a little weird to see female dancers. I mean they hardly every show woman in Johnny’s videos at all. But girls show up a few times in videos. Like in Cherish by NEWS, Don’t You Ever Stop by KAT-TUN, and Love So Sweet by Arashi. But for the most part there are none, especially not dancing. I think this might be the first Johnny’s video that features female dancers.

So here’s the short commercial preview.

But if you want to listen to the whole song KAT-TUN preformed it recently on Music Station. I can honestly say I’m not really impressed with the song. One Drop was a lot better, and definitely my favorite of the two new singles. Though I do really love Koki’s rap part in Rescue.

Love, Dreaming, Eternity, Hope, and One Drop!

KAT-TUN’s new single, One Drop, is being released on February 11th. And the full version of the PV is out! Hooray!

The song is amazing! It’s super catchy. It’s been stuck in my head since yesterday. The song also has a positive message, that it’s ok to cry. No matter what it’s ok. Which is really sweet. But of course the song mainly focuses on Kame and Jin, like practically ever other song. And I’m not really complaining since they are the best vocalist in the group. But I’d like to hear more Koki and Ueda. The group parts sound really fabulous. I love the harmonies that they each have.

But it’s mostly because everyone in KAT-TUN sounds exactly the same. I can’t be the only one who notices that. I mean seriously close your eyes and listen to Lips, it sounds like Kame is singing the entire song. But that’s something different entirely.

The video is pretty hot. As I said before KAT-TUN+all black=sexy! And they have 2 snazzy hummer limos in the video. That’s pretty epic. But the dance. Gosh the dance is so stupid. I mean I thought they were going to break out into the running man.

LOLZ Thriller WHUT?

But mostly every looks hot in the close up shots.

JIN! He looks gorgeous.

Kame change your hair!
Ueda looking pretty sex hot.
Maru dosen’t really impress me. XD
Taguchi suprisingly looks pretty hot.
Eww Koki has yellow teeth.
One other thing I noticed, is it really necessary for KAT-TUN to wear so much lip gloss.

Come on make Johnny’s some what manly. The concert outfits are embarrassing enough.

So pretty much I’m a fan of this song. I’ve listened to it at least 10 times. It’s great. They’ll probably make it to number one, they always do.

One Drop short version

KAT-TUN, has released a short version for their new single One Drop. It’s only 1:40, which is not really long enough. I can’t wait for the full version! And since it’s only the short version I’m not going to even comment about the video or song until the full version is. Which means I can’t even comment on how gorgeous Jin looks in the video. ;]

In more KAT-TUN – One Drop news, they preformed their new song on the February 2nd episode of Heyx3. What’s even more amazing about this? Some lovely person from LJ subtitled it. And someone uploaded it to youtube, probably without the subbers permission. So watch it while you can. If it gets removed it’s not my fault.

They also disabled embeding it, so here’s the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNNuZbdE20s

The preformance is awesome and I love the lyrics. And pretty much everyone is looking pretty hot in the Heyx3 preformance. Also Kame sporting a slightly different hair style. Which looks pretty hot. So ugly hair no more! And I didn’t realize, until the other day when I rewatched Johnny’s new year’s countdown, that Kame was wearing the one drop hair. Jin looks so sexy in his black hat! And of course Ueda is looking pretty hot. And even more suprising Koki looks really hot with his hair like that. But sorry to Maru and Taguchi I never notice them.

KAT-TUN PV preview

KAT-TUN has a 15 second preview of their new single One Drop, that’s being released in February. It was for a Dwango commercial. I’m not really sure what Dwango is but I’m guessing it’s a CD store or something.

Within those short 15 seconds a few things jumped out at me. First of all, JIN! I don’t really need to say more than that. Another thing is I really love Ueda with that hair. But he defiantly looked better with his black hair. And I can barely make out anyone else. But I can kinda of see Koki. But it doesn’t seem like he’s changed at all. His hair is still back and slicked back.

And Kame, I kind of wish I couldn’t see him. What’s up with his hair? When I first saw him I honestly though, wait a minutes Jun Matsumoto isn’t in KAT-TUN. I think I died a little inside when I noticed it was really him. What’s happened to his sleek, straight, and sexy hair? It’s all curly, flipped, and feathered. It’s disgusting! Why must so many JE members make bad hair choices?

Anyway, I’m still looking forward to the rest of the PV because KAT-TUN in all black is just hot. And I’m glad that this song is faster paced then their last single, White Xmas.

KAT-TUN’s 10th single

KAT-TUN has announced their 10th single, Rescue, will be released March 11th. The song is being used as the opening theme for the TBS drama Rescue. The drama stars KAT-TUN member Nakamaru Yuichi and NEWS member Masuda Takahisa.

I honestly think this is a little fast since their 9th single, One Drop, hasn’t been released yet. And doesn’t even have a PV yet. Coincidently, their 9th single is also a drama opening theme. It’s the opening from the upcoming drama Kami no Shizuku, which stars KAT-TUN member Kazuya Kamenashi.

Anyway, you can hear a small clip of their new song in the commercial for Rescue. But the song is very low and I can only make out Kame’s voice and the lyrics I don’t wanna cry.

Johnny’s Shuffle Groups?

There’s a big rumor going around in the JE fandom. That allegedly Johnny’s is taking different members from
each group and forming several Dream Units, much like H!P’s Shuffle Groups. Now much like Shuffle Groups these Dream Units are only temporary. On New Year’s Eve there will be an event where all the new units are gathered together then put back into their original groups. Supposedly, NTV and Fuji are battling it out for the television rights. It’s supposedly happening sometime in April, but who’s to say it’s not happening tomorrow. It’s not like there’s an official announcement about this.

I think I’m the only fangirl out there who didn’t have a heart attack over this news. I’m actually excited for this, if it is true at all. But since there are mixed opinions on the whole situation I’m going to list my pros and cons of these alleged Dream Units.

Reason 1: It works at Johnny’s Countdown. Every year at Johnny’s Countdown members are mixed up and thrown together singing other group’s songs. It seems to work fine then, and I’m sure it’s ratings gold. But this time Johnny’s is getting more bang for his buck. Massive amounts of fangirls paying for what they see free on TV every year.

Reason 2: Uchi and Kusano comeback! These shuffle units would be perfect for Uchi’s and Kusano’s comeback. It can test the waters for a comeback, much like Uchi’s solo concerts. It can be a trial period to see if they are good enough to be put back into NEWS. And if they fail it has no repercussion to NEWS at all because it wasn’t NEWS they made look bad. No, it was this brand new Dream Unit.

Reason 3: This could slowly destroy a certain Johnny’s group. What if this Dream Unit consists of the elite of the elite within Johnny’s? If it’s a good enough song and if promoted right the single could potentially outsell Arashi’s single. So what if they decide to focus mainly on this super group and only giving the respected groups their in one or two singles the entire year? This would never happen but it’s a jumbled possibility running through my head.

Reason 4: Just how close are Dream Units to Shuffle Groups? We all know that H!P Shuffle groups went on and main groups still continued to make music. But, Shuffle Groups lasted for the summer and only had one or two singles. Johnny’s is doing this all year! So they could put JE singles on hold and just focus on the Dream Units. Which doesn’t seem very smart and is also unlikely to happen.

Reason 5: Less popular members can be in the spotlight more. Now many idol fans will argue that their idol isn’t unpopular because they are perfect in their eyes. But we all now that’s not true and some idols outsell their group mates by substantial amounts. Now some members can be in the spotlight more than they already are. Rather then “Oh I think I can see him but Yamapi or Jun is in the way.” And I mean really how many solo lines do Shige or Koki really get? Not enough.

Reason 6: It’s easy to juggle two groups, Ryo does it. There’s actually nothing to explain on this one. Ryo is in both NEWS and Kanjani8 and does just fine.

Reason 7: It’s Johnny’s they know what they’re doing. Johnny’s has been around since he 60’s. And practically every single and album they release shoots to number one. If anyone could make it work it would be Johnny’s.

Reason 8: We’re nothing without our leader. Kei-chan said it himself, NEWS is nothing without Yamapi. What if the popularity with his current group mixed with the popularity of this dream units finally gives them the nudge to go solo? Whether they decide it themselves or Johnny’s “suggests” it.

All and all, I’m pretty excited by this. The group possibilities are endless.

You could have Jin and Koki from KAT-TUN, Kusano formerly from NEWS, and Sho from Arashi to make a hip-hop/rap group.
You could have Yamapi and Tegoshi from NEWS, Kame from KAT-TUN, Jun from Arashi and Subaru from Kanjani8 to make an elite vocal group.
You could have TegoMass and Yuri Chinen from Hey! Say! Jump form and cute group.
And so on.
