Hey! Say! JUMP – Ai no Arika PV preview

Hey!Say!JUMP

A few days ago Yaotome Hikaru was on Ousama no Brunch promoting his and Inoo’s new drama Dark System Koi no Oza Ketteisen. And it was the perfect opportunity to release the PV preview for Ai no Arika, off of Hey! Say! JUMP’s upcoming double A-side single, Ai no Arika/Aisureba Motto Happy Life, since it’s currently being used as the theme for Dark System.

Before I talk about the PV preview I want to point out that I cannot stand that the official way Ai no Arika is written is as one giant word. And because I don’t particularly care for that I’m not going to write it as such on my blog. I’ll still tag it as that so JUMP fans can find my blog, but that’s about it.

Now, on to the PV preview. I have to say I really like the set for this PV. It’s beautiful, it’s spacious, it looks like it was filmed in some concert hall, and has some really nice high ceilings. There’s even a full orchestra behind them which is great. However, I thought it was great when it was used in Arashi’s Truth PV back in 2008. Beside the fact that Arashi’s Truth PV had a smaller set and it had a darker and grittier PV to make the more mature song, and Hey! Say! JUMP has a wide open set with bright lights to match the more happy positive song, it’s pretty much the same exact PV. And I’m honestly disappointed with that.

The outfits for this PV aren’t anything to write home about either. They are just red suits, while they are nice outfit they’re not really anything special. Especially since I’m 90% sure that Hey! Say! JUMP has worn straight up red suits before. But I can’t remember  exactly when. The closest I can remember is when they wore sleeveless red suits during the Summary 2011 concert.

The only part of this PV that did seems to have potential are Hikaru’s rap scenes. I mean they actually look really cool. He’s wearing 2 different outfits and there are some interesting camera angles and effects going on. However, the actual rap itself is so awkward and kind of awful, and doesn’t fit in the song at all, that’s it’s my absolute least favorite part of the song.

And it is a little sad that only Hikaru gets this special part in the song and PV even though Inoo is also in this drama. Sure, Hikaru is probably the lead. But remember how Super Delicate was the theme for Ryosuke’s and Yuto’s drama Risou no Musuko? Despite Ryosuke being the lead of that drama the song and PV were pretty much solely dedicated to them. But I guess that’s too much to ask for when Inoo is involved. But even Hikaru is on the bottom half of popularity within Hey! Say! JUMP, so I don’t get it.

I guess it could be that it’s easy to have Hikaru do his normal rapping while Inoo sounds like a frog while singing and can’t easily lead a song.

Take a ride with Hey! Say! JUMP

HSJRideWithMe

What better way to bring in the new year than to have my first PV review of the new year be of one of my favorite idol groups? Though Hey! Say! JUMP’s Ride With Me was released last year, it’s close enough. I actually intended to do this PV as soon as it came out but I was too busy with my end of the year posts, and so here we are.

I am actually surprised that I ended up liking this PV more than I thought I would. Even though the PV is incredibly cheap and there’s not really much going on in the final version than what we saw in the PV preview, I still like it. I think the PV is really fun. I think they actually put in a lot more effort into this PV than it seems. While at first looks all you can really notice is that obnoxious jungle gym/cage made out of what looks like PVC pipes looming in the background. For a second it felt like we were transported back to the Super Delicate PV with those white abstract art pieces.

SuperDelicate

But in a weird way I’m into them. Mostly because without them they would just be in an empty room dancing on that same metallic  reflective material that they used in the over PV.

Over2

I can really appreciate is that they added some other element to the dancing set, no matter how random it is. I also really like that throughout the PV they shine lights on the white metal piece in tune of the song. Or at least it looks like it’s in tune of the song to me.

I could really take or leave the second main set of the PV which is that neon rainbow hallway they use for the close-up shots. Not only do they look like they cost $2 to make they give off a similar feel to Kisumai’s Ai no Beat dance version PV where they did their close-up scenes in a hallway full of graffiti written in black light ink.

AiNoBeat

You guys also know that I don’t like those scenes because of the awful styling.  While I do think members like Yuto, Takaki, Inoo, and Hikaru were able to not have the horrendous hairstyles the rest of the guys have, I don’t think anyone really escaped the bad outfit styling. I don’t think many guys wake up and say, “Today I’ll wear a mustard colored motorcycle jacket.” I’ve never actually seen motorcycle jackets for men in any other color but black or brown. Maybe I’m being a bit biased since Momusu pulled off bright neon motorcycle jackets extremely well.

MDS

I’m sorry I just think Hey! Say! JUMP look ridiculous in them. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I think the blue and red jackets are the only ones that possibly pass.

But all of those terrible motorcycle jackets are forgiven when we see the guys in those tuxedos. Definitely the highlight of the PV for me. The guys look so classy, dapper, and absolutely gorgeous. I also really like the black CG shapes in the background. It’s relatively simple, but I think small touches like that that keep you from getting bored are perfect. Because let’s be honest, if they left that white it would have been too plain and I would have been complaining about it instantly.

But I think the real win for this PV is the amount of screen time everyone gets. It is finally what I’ve always hoped for for HSJ, we get to see everyone! And for a decent amount of time! Remember the Super Delicate PV where Inoo and Keito literally got two solo scenes that were 2 seconds longs? That was a grim time for the group.

But HSJ have really been turning things around with their latest releases. In Come On A My House there was a pretty equal amount of screen time and in Ride With Me we get completely equal screen time and everyone gets lines. There is literally nothing else I can possibly ask from them.

RideWithMe

Tell me that the lights aren’t in sync with the music here.

RideWithMe2

The shadowy figure of Ryosuke just standing there, reminding everyone who is the most popular.

RideWithMe3

I could do without all these seizure inducing scene changes.

RideWithMe4

Come on now, Chinen looks ridiculous.

RideWithMe5

Daiki doesn’t look completely awful I suppose.

RideWithMe6

I really wish their dancing outfits were any other color but white. It’s too boring.

RideWithMe7

Ryosuke is trying so hard too look hot, but I’m sorry not with that hair.

RideWithMe8

Am I the only one who thinks the way he parts his hair is similar to the way is was styled in the Over PV?

Over

Though obviously in Over her had more bangs and split them.

RideWithMe9

The technicolor lights are a little distracting to be honest.

RideWithMe10

WTF is Daiki even doing?

RideWithMe11

Oh Inoo.

RideWithMe12

What’s with the sudden rush of Takaki feelings? He looks really good here.

RideWithMe13

Thankfully my beloved Yuto manages to not look stupid.

RideWithMe14

RIP Keito’s lovely long hair.

RideWithMe15

Go away Takaki.

RideWithMe16

Yuto looking adorable.

RideWithMe17

Lookin’ good Ryosuke.

RideWithMe18

It’s reasons like this that he’s the most popular.

RideWithMe19

That slight wink!

RideWithMe20

Can we all agree that Daiki has no idea what to do during his close-ups? Right now he’s playing air piano.

RideWithMe21

Yabu is a cutie, too bad his hair is terrible here.

RideWithMe22

I think it’s funny that Inoo looks the same in practically every PV.

RideWithMe23

I hate this ride with me dance move with a burning passion.

RideWithMe24

Hikaru looks the best with black hair.

RideWithMe25

Cutie.

RideWithMe26

Yuto in a tux, I don’t think life gets much better than this.

RideWithMe27

Inoo’s tie is so cool.

RideWithMe28

I hate when they style Keito’s hair like this.

RideWithMe29

Hikaru looks so cute.

RideWithMe30

For some reason Ryosuke’s hair looks much better here.

RideWithMe31

Why are they covering their eyes?

RideWithMe32

I didn’t even notice Keito’s shirt was open a bit. Thanks a lot stylist.

Hey! Say! JUMP – Ride With Me PV preview

Hey!Say!JUMP

The PV preview for Hey! Say! JUMP’s upcoming 11th single Ride With Me was released. And since the PV preview was come out I’m gonna to use this as the perfect opportunity to talk a little bit about the single.

Ok, while I was away from blogging I spent a decent amount of my time on twitter complaining about how much Hey! Say! JUMP has been mismanaged their entire career and how whoever is in charge of them is completely incompetent. Now, while I do still fell that way, and it’s painfully obvious how they have been mismanaged for years, it seems like the people at Johnny’s have finally gotten their act together in regards to Hey! Say! JUMP. And all I can say is finally. And I really do mean finally. We actually don’t have to wait a solid year for Hey! Say! JUMP to release something new and I couldn’t be more excited.

But not only that HSJ jump is back, and back in a big way. Not only have they finally been allowed to have one of their mature songs be the A-side like Beat and Bounce should have totally been. Inoo and Keito both have lines in this single. Let me repeat that so it fully sinks in. Keito and Inoo have lines, actual lines! In their entire career of HSJ Keito and Inoo have never gotten a line in an A-side before ever. And not only that not just Keito and Inoo have lines but every single member has lines. And Ryosuke doesn’t have the most lines in this single. Daiki actually does.

Now this is huge. This is really really big for them. It means Johnny’s are finally realizing you have to promote each member evenly for the group as a whole to thrive. It means they have a enough faith in the group to not depend on cute songs or Ryosuke to sell their singles. This is an extremely exciting time to be a fan of Hey! Say! JUMP. The single is great and my beloved Keito actually has lines. And a decent amount of lines, not like just 2 words. I honestly couldn’t be happier.

Now, onto the PV preview. The PV looks a little simple so far since the preview is extremely short. All we really see so far is HSJ wearing all white dancing in front of giant white tubing. Which is really just long enough to see that this PV was filled before Keito cut his hair. Thank god. I’m sorry but I’m just not into his new hair style.

We also see 5 seconds of the close-up shots with them singing in front of flashing rainbow colored lights. Which is enough time to see the ridiculous styling of those scenes. You can only really see Ryosuke and Chinen and they are both wearing hideous neon motorcycle jackets and their hair is styled ridiculously. Which means the other member’s outfits aren’t much better.

The only thing that saves this is Ryosuke and Daiki are talking about this single while wearing really cool blue jackets, so hopefully those are part of the not yet seen 3rd outfits for this single.

Even though this preview is really short you can already tell that this PV has a very Arashi’s Calling or Kisumai’s Ai no Beat dance version feel. So, I’m expecting something like that for the finished product of this PV. Which isn’t really shocking. It’s a dance song so it’ll get a dance PV.

Come on a release a new single already Hey! Say! JUMP

HSJ

I think I speak for the entire fandom when I say, “what’s going on with Hey! Say! JUMP?” I mean seriously. Unless you’re a new Hey! Say! JUMP fan you’re probably aware of the fact that Hey! Say! JUMP haven’t released a new single in over a year. The last single they released was Super Delicate on February 22, 2012. Well, even if you’re a new fan you’re probably painfully aware of this. But you probably won’t know the anger and overall annoyance that comes along with not releasing anything in over a year.

Now, this isn’t exactly a new thing for Hey! Say! JUMP. I became a fan of them back in 2009 during their first unexpected, and for no good reason, year long hiatus. Back then I honestly did not care. Since I was a new fan the hiatus gave me enough time to catch up to the group. Watch concerts, memorize the members names, get a feel for their personalities, and get really familiar with the music. It was fun. It’s obviously easier to catch up on an idol group in their downtime, but it’s honestly just as easy to catch up with them in real time. Mostly because most idol groups don’t have year long hiatuses. Do you realize that even NEWS didn’t miss a year in between release? Well, of course right before the members left they did. But before that they didn’t.

Another reason I was content with the hiatus was because despite not having physical releases they were still making new music. They would perform them on Shounen Club or they were songs used as volleyball support ssongs. If you recall they had so many unreleased songs that when they released their first album fans were saying that there was going to be a BEST and 7 version of the album with a rumored track list just because they had enough songs for it. I still think that would have been a brilliant idea, and will never understand why they didn’t do that.

They also have so many unreleased songs that they are still including them in their recent releases. And they have more unreleased group songs like Shin-Gi-Tai and Tobira no Mukou. As well as pretty ancient Hey! Say! 7 songs Brave Story, Nounai Dance, and Kawaii Kimi no Koto da Mono. I actually think all of Hey! Say! BEST’s stuff was released. But I could be wrong.

Also, do you remember Hey! say! JUMP’s Tengoku concerts from 2009? You know the concerts that didn’t get a DVD release. Which I am STILL not over to be honest. And the reason that I, and no doubt JUMP fans everywhere, were angry about this is because this was the concert where nearly every member of JUMP got a special solo. Even Keito and Inoo. Poor Ryutaro only got a dance solo. Chinen and Yuri had a duet. But that’s fine because my beloved Yuto still has his unreleased Uruwashi no Bad Girl solo. So, there’s 8 unreleased songs still! It’s 8 because Ryosuke sang Asia no Yoru. That’s pretty much an entire album worth of unreleased solos. That honestly will probably never get released or see the light of day again. Because they haven’t been preformed since those Tengoku concerts back in 2009.

During this hiatus we’ve gotten nothing really. Ok, we did get a new album and a concert DVD. But I guess I’m a greedy fan because that’s not enough. But you know what, no, that’s not greedy at all. It’s not unreasonable at all to want a new single in a year. I know that male idols don’t match the pace of female idols that release about 4 singles a year. But male idols usually don’t go more than 7 months between a single release without a reason. Hey! Say! JUMP doesn’t have one.

Now, this entire impatient ranting post was fueled by the fact that Hey! Say! JUMP do have a new song. It’s called Come On A MY House and they’ve been promoting it a lot lately.

In their new Vermont Curry commercial.

On School Kakumei.

News reports even showed them performing it at the Johnny’s World Thanksgiving concert.

But I’m angry because despite this, there has been no confirmation about this being a new single. Even though all of these promos started airing on March 30th or 31st. Which was obviously 4 or 5 days ago.

However, I do think that this song isn’t going to be an A-side. I’m willing to bet it’s the B-side to some upcoming new single. Because 1. if it was an A-side they would have made it perfectly clear by now and would have announced it as such during the Johnny’s World Thanksgiving concert. 2. I think they’re gonna pull a Kagayaki Days. Remember how Hey! Say! 7’s Kagayaki Days was used in Hey! Say! 7’s Lotte Fruitio commercial before Hitomi no Screen was even announced? So, it makes sense to do it with this song also. And 3. I don’t want it to be an A-side.

No, seriously I don’t. The song just isn’t good enough. It’s cute and idoly, and a little bit catchy I suppose. But it’s a little more immature than I expected. Coming off of their really mature last single, Super Delicate, this just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s more suited for a fun B-side.

I’m honestly kind of fed up with how they have been treating JUMP. It’s pretty obvious they never really knew what to do with JUMP once they started getting older. It was easy for them to be the young, cutesy, childish group when they were that age, but once they started getting older they honestly didn’t know what to do. They started giving them more mature music, but quickly took that back and gave them cutesy music again. It’s obvious whoever handles JUMP within Johnny’s doesn’t really know what they’re doing. I certainly hope it’s not Julie because she’s can’t even handle JUMP properly, yet she’s set to take over the whole company.

I’m sick of Johnny’s still treating Hey! Say! JUMP as the youngest group. They’re not anymore, Sexy Zone is. It’s really easy to have a song that’s cutesy and fun with a fresh vibe without it being too silly and childish. Arashi and NEWS have always done that beautifully.

I guess I’m just waiting for Johnny’s to get it together and give Hey! Say! JUMP a clear path. And at least pretend they know what they’re doing. I didn’t just spend $50 on a Hey! Say! JUMP calendar that’s only really worth $20 at most, for them to just dissolve as a group.

Hey! Say! JUMP to finally release second album

After almost two years since the release of JUMP No 1, it has been announced that Hey! Say! JUMP will be releasing their long awaited second album. The album is currently untitled, but it will be released on June 6th. The album will of course come in a Limited Edition and Regular edition. The LE will have a DVD that includes footage of the album recording and the jacket shooting. The RE will come with a 3D booklet and messages from the memebers, much like the messages both editions of JUMP No 1 had.

But what’s different about this album from their last one, and most Johnny’s releases, is that the the final 3 songs on each edition will be different. The LE will get 2 old songs: Spicy by Hey! Say! BEST and Endless Dream, as well as new song Uta Utau by Hey! Say! 7. The RE edition will 2 new songs: SNAP by Hey! Say! BEST, and Hana Egao by Hey! Say! 7. The RE will also include another single medley, probably much like the one at the end of Thank You Bokutachi Kara Kimi E, so I don’t really count that as a new song.

Well, I can’t say that I’m shocked by this announcement. After 1 year passed with no new album I was pretty much expecting the announcement to come any day. And once it got to be a year and a half, then almost two years, I started to get pretty annoyed and impatient. I don’t really understand what the management is doing with Hey! Say! JUMP. First they had that whole year of not releasing a single, and then almost 2 years inbetween album releases. NEWS also had this kind of waiting period, but for good reason. There’s absolutely no reason for Hey! Say! JUMP to have these long stretches of nothing.

That small complaint aside, I’m obviously really excited for Hey! Say! JUMP to be releasing another album. HSJ is one of my top 3 favorite JE groups, and I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this release. This album already seems to be a lot better than their first album already since the only difference between LE and RE was the jackets and member messages. I’m glad that they put a lot more effort into each eddition. I can’t really comment on anything else though because most of the albums are new. But I can comment on the old songs. I really love that Hey! Say! JUMP has slowly been releasing old songs as B-sides because as it is right now nearly all of their unreleased songs have been officially released. As for Spicy though I’ve never been a huge fan of the song and I think I’ve only really heard it once ot twice. But relistening to it now it’s actually not that bad of a song. But for the unreleased songs I am way more excited for Endless Dream. I’ve been a huge fan of this song since they first sang it on Shounen Club back in 09. And it was actually one of the unreleased songs I wanted them to include in JUMP No 1. Endless Dream is really a great song. The music is great and the line distribution is almost good. 7/9 of JUMP get a decent amount of lines, but per usual Keito and Inoo are left with nothing. But quite honestly I’m just happy that Yuto has a nice chunk of lines.

And for any new JUMP fan out there, or anyone who just wants to refresh their memory, here are clips of Spicy

and Endless Dream.

Hey! Say! JUMP’s new PV leaves me super impressed

The full PV for Hey! Say! JUMP’s upcoming new single, Super Delicate, has recently been released.

After watching the full PV it seems that the PV is just as cheaply made as the PV preview from ZIP showed. The entire PV only has 2 equally simple sets. And yet, I cannot find one fault for the PV. Yes, it’s a cheaply made PV, but it’s done in such a way that you don’t even really notice. The PV is still very interseting and entertaining. And that’s mostly due to the fact that they really used the main set to their full advantage. The main set isn’t really much to look at. It’s basically a giant white runway with these weird abstract, I’m going to call them towers, periodically placed throughout the set. On an all black background with dozens of white lights. And the background and lighting are pretty much cheap sets 101. H!P has done several sets just like that when they can’t afford anything better. And Hey! Say! JUMP probably would have been able to have a better set if they didn’t insist on making horribly cheap PVs for Wonderland Train and Su.Ri.Ru which are have the same awful fanmade feel to them that the Aing – Aishiteru PV did. The set is white so I guess it does have a very crisp and polished feel to it. And it makes the brightly dressed Hey! Say! JUMP pop. But at the same time it’s all white which is bland and boring in itself. But like I said they really do take full advantage of the set by using it in two other ways. The first way is obviously the members walking down it like a runway. Which I actually like because it shows off the members. But it is a little silly when you think about it because it has absolutely nothing to do with the song. And the other way is used for group close-ups. And I gotta hand it to them they really try to fool the viewer into thinking it’s a different set by lowering the lighting. I also really like the close-up set. It kinda of looks like funhouse mirrors but done in a better way.

The dance for this is also incredible. It’s perfectly in synch and the moves are really dynamic. However, this PV doesn’t really show too much of the dance which is kind of sad. And they mainly focus on the worst part of the dance which is the stupid eyes over the face move. And they don’t show the Yamajima move, what’s up with that? I seriously recommend watching their Shounen Club performance of this song if you want to see the dance, they totally killed it. I posted it on tumblr a few weeks ago, hopefully it didn’t get deleted yet.

But much like with any cheap PV the best parts of the PV are the members themselves. They look absolutely incredible. Well, most of them do. I have no idea what they were thinking when they did Hikaru’s, Keito’s, and Inoo’s hair. They look ridiculous. And the guys are wearing 2 outfits that are really great. Suits and more casual outfits. And they are styled pretty nicely for the most part. Expect Chinen’s casual outfit makes him look like a clown, Hikaru’s pants are disgusting in each outfit, and who really wears ascots ever? But besides that they look incredible. Especially my beloved Yuto. He looks amazing in both outfits, and he co-leads the PV with Ryosuke. The amount of Yuto screen time in this PV is amazing. Yes, Inoo and Keito only get like 3 seconds of screen time to compensate for it. But I’m not going to even pretend that I care about that. Yuto hasn’t gotten this much screen time since Mayonaka no Shadow Boy, and I’m going to relish every second of it. Especially since he’ll most likely be taking his usual postion in PVs for their next single, lurking in the back or just off to the side.

They focus way too much time on the title screen.

Ryosuke tries too hard to make and intense face, but it just looks awkward.

He should just focus on looking pretty.

I’m always impressed by this move.

What a great scene. Who doesn’t want to just see their pants?

Ryosuke’s conceited pose.

I don’t get why Hikaru keeps doing his hair like this, as if it looks good.

Cheap lighting 101.

No, seriously it is.

Work it Yuto. XD

Modeling in a PV will forever remind me of Morning Musume’s Onna ga Medatte Naze Ikenai PV.

I absolutely love the close-up scenes set.

Yuto. *O*

Nice outfit, but I cannot stand Chinen.

I like Hikaru’s outfit from the waist up. But what’s going on with the rest? Baggy pants tucked into boots, I can’t even with this.

Cute.

I love Yabu.

Takaki has the best outfit.

Stupid move.

Yuto looking adorable during the dance scenes.

Chinen’s outfit is just awful.

Adorable.

Hot.

Intense close-ups of the towers. It’s hilarious that these abstract pieces get more screen time than Inoo and Keito do. Lol.

Daiki looks so good here.

The sitting down reminds me of

NEWS’s Hoshi wo Mezashite PV.

Yabu’s a cutie.

That hair. o_O

Cute.

And that hair. o_O

At least Keito does have normal hair at one point. He looks cute here, too bad you hardly see him.

Can I just laugh that the group close-ups are split by having Hey! Say! 7 in one group and Hey! Say! BEST in another, like they should be, and that instead they are split by popularity? This group features the most popular members.

What’s up with Hikaru’s pants? Are we in the 80’s all of a sudden?

Adorable.

Oh, Yuto. I love how the mirrors shows a different expression.

Hot.

Hikaru is still cute under all that ugly hair.

Oh look, they finally show the least popular members group full on.

Why do they insist on showcasing their worst move?

Cute.

I don’t get why they show the set floating at the end.

Hey! Say! JUMP-Super Delicate PV preview

A PV preview for Hey! Say! JUMP’s upcoming single, Super Delicate, was just released.

I am a tad biased here, but the PV looks absolutely perfect. It just looks incredible so far and so much better than I was expecting. After I saw the covers I knew that the PV was going to be good, but it looks better than I imagined. Just amazing. The guys look super goreous in it. Well, most of them do. Chinen’s outfit is ridiculous and Inoo has this weird hair going on. But other than that there aren’t really any faults. The dance set is a little bit boring, but the abstract white pieces on the sides do jazz the space up a bit.

This preview is insanly short. And since it is a preview and a short making of we only really get to see the dance. Which is incredible I might add. The sharpness of it and the precision is just amazing. But the last 20 seconds of the preview does play some more of the PV in the background, and you can see that the PV is more than just dancing. Their close-ups seem to be in this glass room and there are also scenes with them wlaking on a runway.

But hands down the absolute best part of this preview is the amount of Yuto in it. I don’t really hide that Yuto is my favorite member of JUMP on this blog. And I couldn’t be happier that Yuto is the co-center. I honestly had my doubts he would be since they neglected him in the song. It’s about time he’s in the spotlight in JUMP again. A few years ago Yuto used to be everywhere and was in the center all the time. But over the years Chinen has slowly been taken over his 2nd place position. Which I of course can’t stand. But at least he’s front in center for this single.

Hey! Say! JUMP-Super Delicate preview

Recently a short radio rip of Hey! Say! JUMP’s Super Delicate was released.

I gotta tell you, I love this song more and more every time that I hear it. The music is just absolutely perfect. It blends heavy dance music with some salsa influences thrown in. It honestly sounds like a mix between Over, Beat Line, and Shinku. I love that the beginning of the song starts with a really sweet and soft note from Ryosuke, accompanied by equally soft music. And I also love that that soft music lingers for a few second as the heavier music of the verse builds. For the most part the song is sung very softly which is a great contrast to the heavy dance instrumental. And it does lighten the song a bit. And of course the chorus of the song is amazing. The music and singing really pick up, and there are a lot of great extended notes. The song has a very mature sound and it also sounds very passoniate. Like the members are singing this with a lot of emotion.
The only thing that could make this song absolutely perfect is if the line distribution was even remotely fair. Yet again the only person that gets a solo is Ryosuke. Hey! Say! JUMP has 10 members, I’m really getting sick with just hearing one of them. Pretty much every other Johnny’s group lets the other members get lines. Except for Kisumai, but even then it’s 3 members that get lines. Yes, Ryosuke is an amazing singer, but he’s not the only amazing singer in Hey! Say! JUMP. Takaki’s voices is absolutely perfect for this type of song. And if you listened to Beat Line you know that Hikaru’s and Yuto’s are also perfect for this type of song. It seems like whenever Ryosuke is in a drama they use it as an excuse for him to get all the solo lines. I think the infamous Hitomi no Screen proves that. But the real ridiculous part of this is that both Ryosuke and Yuto are in the drama. I get that Ryosuke is the lead, but Yuto gets nothing for being in the drama too? It’s really getting stale only hearing one member. What’s wrong with having another song as fair as Arigatou ~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~? Well, even in Arigatou Inoo, Keito, and Ryutaro were shafted. But 8/9 would be a massive improvement.

Hey! Say! JUMP to release new single

Now, this news has been floating around for weeks, but it was basically a rumor since it wasn’t confirmed. And I didn’t want to blog about this until it was 100% confirmed. And it was finally officially confirmed a few days ago. Hey! Say! JUMP will be releasing their 9th single. The single is entitled Super Delicate and will be released on February 22nd. The song will be used as the theme members Yamada Ryosuke’s and Nakajima Yuto’s drama Risou no Musuko.

I’m really excited that Hey! Say! JUMP is releasing a new single. Since they are my second favorite Johnny’s group I’m always excited for something new. Especially now that with this new release I can put Magic Power behind me and pretend it doesn’t exists. Though I do admit I wish it was a new album instead, since it’s going on 2 years since their last one and the singles are piling up.
I did listen to the concert rip of and the short previews of this song. And I really do like the mature theme of the song. But I won’t comment on it any further until I can get my hands on a radio rip.

Here are some previews of the song.

The 30 Day Idol Challenge: Day 4

I haven’t done the idol challenge in a few days and the reason for that is there wasn’t really anything idol releated stuff to blog about. So, I didn’t want my blog to become a spame of the 30 day idol challenge. But since there were other things to blog about today, onto the challenge.

Day 4’s question is “Which idol would be your boyfriend?”

Since I said that Ryo-chan is my favorite JE idol, this questions seems kind of obvious right? Well, actually it’s not at all. Even though I do love Ryo I don’t think he would make a good boyfriend. Ryo is a little domineering, and sightly cold. He would probably treat girls the same way. Several members of JE have said the only time he is kind is in front of girls he likes. I’m not so sure that’s true. I find it hard to believe that someone who “allegedly” kicks girls out of cabs because they won’t sleep with him, knows how to treat women.
So, with Ryo-chan out of the question I had to think of someone who would actually make a good boyfriend. And within JE that’s harder than it sounds, but at the same time it became obvious.

Nakajima Yuto:

Yuto has never come off as anything but sincere and genuine. He seems truly kind-hearted. I have never seen him act like a jerk, or arrogant, or overly confident at all ever. Which is how a good chunk of Johnny’s act. He also has this carefree, sort of child like, vibe to him. Which makes it seem like he’d be a good boyfriend. Like he’d legimately care. He also seems to have a lot of love for Hey! Say! JUMP and it seems like he has a close-knit relationship with most of them. Which is another important quality. Yuto is also very dorky and quirky. He’s never never cared about basically make a fool of himself. Like when he did Tanoshingo’s dance on Heyx3. And because of that fun and easy going personality Yuto has, it would be a nice simple relationship. I can’t imagine there being drama or even fighting really.

Hey! Say! JUMP keep on moving in new PV

The full version for Hey! Say! JUMP’s Magic Power PV has finally been released. With just days until the release date.

I have to admit that after watching the full PV I don’t hate the PV as much as I initially. It’s still not one of my favorite HSJ PVs, but it’s not so horrible that I can’t watch it. Once you remeber that this song and PV are for children and not for your generation, it’s actually not bad. This PV took the 70’s motown/family friendly theme and really executed it perfectly. The PV reminds me a lot of The Brady Bunch and the Partridge Family. So, much so that I was waiting for David Cassidy to randomly pop out.
I can’t really complain because this PV was made to cater to a specific audience. And nothing is more 70’s family friendly than the Brady Bunch. And because of that people of all ages can enjoy it. And I think they also adding some fun elements to make it more interesting. Both outfits in this video are spot on 70’s, as well as the set and dance. The close-up shorts background is very vibrant and abstract at the same time. There’s also a lot of random shapes that pop up throught the PV: like stars, rainbows, and mod looking circles. But probably my favorite part of the PV is when they are put inside the 70’s televisions.
So my verdict for the PV is this: it’s not awful, but I don’t absolutely love it. I can’t the theme, and they pulled it off perfectly, but it’s just not my cup of tea. Mostly because it wasn’t made for me. I’m about 9 years older than their targeted audience.

This set is familiar show how.

Oh, that’s right. It reminds me of Buono’s Rottara Rottara set. Actually Magic Power as a whole reminds me a lot of Buono’s Rottara Rottara PV.

Overly dramatic surprised face.

The Hey! Say! JUMP logo is actually awesome looking.

But I see no difference.

Yuto being a cutie. But you hardly ever see him in this PV. The JUMP band is shoved in the back as it is, but as the drummer he’s the farthest back.

Rainbow explosion.

The suits are just hideous.

And they remind me of the suits Kanjani8 wears in their Hi Chew commercials.

I absolutely despise Ryosuke with this hairstyle. It does nothing for him.

What an awkward dance move/transition.

I think Takaki and Keito are the only 2 who actually pull this suit off.

Let the quintessential 70’s dancing begin!

Awesome effect.

I wish I could go and shake Ryosuke until he realized how ugly his hair is. It’s not falttering at all. And he’s obviously unaware since he’s had it off and on for months now.

Adorable. And I like the background.

He almost looks good here, but the hair ruins it.

I see that Chinen’s still his same old rabbit self.

Yabu is such a cutie.

But he has one of the ugliest 2nd outfits.

Takaki does absolutely nothing for me.

Nearly a minute and a half in, and this is pretty much the first time they’ve shown Inoo.

This is a horrible dance move! Besides that, are these HSJ’s official group colors? I can never find out what JE’s official group colors are. I only know NEWS’ because they said them on one of their concert DVDs.

An adorable 2 shot.

Why are they showing New York? This isn’t an NYC PV.

I hate Yuto’s hair in this PV.

He pretty much has Ryo’s Happy Birthday hair, which I despised.

Kinda scary face. XD

Cute.

I hate that Hikaru and Keito are the only part of the JUMP band that can actually step forward.

Hikaru keeps making stupid faces.

Love it.

Insert some snappy Yamachi releated comment here.

Cute.

WTF is Daiki doing? And of course it has to end with the top 3.

Hey! Say! JUMP-Magic Power short version

The short version of the PV for Hey! Say! JUMP’s upcoming single, Magic Power, has been released. It was actually released yesterday, but I didn’t blog about it because I expected the full PV to have been released today. Obviouly that’s not the case.

It’s nice to see that there are more things going on in PV than just them dancing in shiny suits. Even though I’m not into the theme, they are really sticking to it. And there’s a lot of 70’s elements to it. I won’t really go into anymore detail beyond this because with 4 days to the release date we can expect the PV any day now. So, you’ll just have to wait for my full PV review.

Hey! Say! JUMP-Magic Power PV preview

Recently a commercial for Hey! Say! JUMP’s upcoming single, Magic Power, was released. Giving us a 10 second sneak peek of the PV.

When I first saw the covers of this single, I didn’t know what to think. I hoped it was just one of those covers that have nothing to do with the PV. Since nearly all of their covers have nothing to do with the PV itself. And honestly, 2 of of 3 covers aren’t bad. It’s the 3rd cover that was awful and slightly embarassing. So, of course that had to be the cover that was modeled after the PV. I’ve watched the PV preview for Magic Power on a loop for a couple minutes now, and each time I watch it I have the same thoughts. Disbelief, second hand embarrassment, the thought that they can’t possibly be serious, and actually on some level, enjoyment.
I get what they were trying to do. They based the PV off the motown music the single features. The whole PV has a 70’s theme. From the random 60’s/70’s looking background, the glowing Hey! Say! JUMP logo that is reminiscent of Soul Train, and the ridiculous 70’s suits. I also understand that the PV is colorful, and vibrant, and ridiculous because it’s a song for children. I get it, I really do. However, that doesn’t mean I like it, because I don’t. Not really at all. On some level I can enjoy it, and laugh at how unserious and idol like it is. But it’s not really want I want to see from JUMP. The current Hey! Say! JUMP are all now officially adults. And I’d love for their music to reflect that. But since they are they youngest JE groups they keep getting lumped as more for a younger audience. A lot of their music is pretty youthful. Which isn’t a bad thing. But it’s also youthful and immature. There’s a way to retain that youthful spirit and still be mature. It’s called NEWS, or any female idol group.

But I’m getting way off subject now. Watch the PV preview and you decide. I’m younger than more than half of JUMP now, but at times I feel too old for them. But ironically, I don’t feel to old for S/mileage. There’s a double standard. XD

Hey! Say! JUMP preview

Hey! Say! JUMP is coming out with a new single some time in April. It will include the songs Jonetsu JUMP and Yuuki 100%. Which translates as Passion JUMP and Courage 100%. Jonetsu JUMP is going to be the volley ball support for 2009, and Yuuki 100% is a cover of a song that was for the anime Nintama rantarou. As of now it’s still up in the air as to which song is going to be the a-side. It seems likely that Jonetsu JUMP will be the a-side since it’s a new song and is also a volley ball support song.

But for now we have a preview of Yuuki 100%. It’s a pretty upbeat song and more of a group song. I think the only one that gets a solo line in it is Yabu.

Johnny’s Shuffle Groups?

There’s a big rumor going around in the JE fandom. That allegedly Johnny’s is taking different members from
each group and forming several Dream Units, much like H!P’s Shuffle Groups. Now much like Shuffle Groups these Dream Units are only temporary. On New Year’s Eve there will be an event where all the new units are gathered together then put back into their original groups. Supposedly, NTV and Fuji are battling it out for the television rights. It’s supposedly happening sometime in April, but who’s to say it’s not happening tomorrow. It’s not like there’s an official announcement about this.

I think I’m the only fangirl out there who didn’t have a heart attack over this news. I’m actually excited for this, if it is true at all. But since there are mixed opinions on the whole situation I’m going to list my pros and cons of these alleged Dream Units.

Reason 1: It works at Johnny’s Countdown. Every year at Johnny’s Countdown members are mixed up and thrown together singing other group’s songs. It seems to work fine then, and I’m sure it’s ratings gold. But this time Johnny’s is getting more bang for his buck. Massive amounts of fangirls paying for what they see free on TV every year.

Reason 2: Uchi and Kusano comeback! These shuffle units would be perfect for Uchi’s and Kusano’s comeback. It can test the waters for a comeback, much like Uchi’s solo concerts. It can be a trial period to see if they are good enough to be put back into NEWS. And if they fail it has no repercussion to NEWS at all because it wasn’t NEWS they made look bad. No, it was this brand new Dream Unit.

Reason 3: This could slowly destroy a certain Johnny’s group. What if this Dream Unit consists of the elite of the elite within Johnny’s? If it’s a good enough song and if promoted right the single could potentially outsell Arashi’s single. So what if they decide to focus mainly on this super group and only giving the respected groups their in one or two singles the entire year? This would never happen but it’s a jumbled possibility running through my head.

Reason 4: Just how close are Dream Units to Shuffle Groups? We all know that H!P Shuffle groups went on and main groups still continued to make music. But, Shuffle Groups lasted for the summer and only had one or two singles. Johnny’s is doing this all year! So they could put JE singles on hold and just focus on the Dream Units. Which doesn’t seem very smart and is also unlikely to happen.

Reason 5: Less popular members can be in the spotlight more. Now many idol fans will argue that their idol isn’t unpopular because they are perfect in their eyes. But we all now that’s not true and some idols outsell their group mates by substantial amounts. Now some members can be in the spotlight more than they already are. Rather then “Oh I think I can see him but Yamapi or Jun is in the way.” And I mean really how many solo lines do Shige or Koki really get? Not enough.

Reason 6: It’s easy to juggle two groups, Ryo does it. There’s actually nothing to explain on this one. Ryo is in both NEWS and Kanjani8 and does just fine.

Reason 7: It’s Johnny’s they know what they’re doing. Johnny’s has been around since he 60’s. And practically every single and album they release shoots to number one. If anyone could make it work it would be Johnny’s.

Reason 8: We’re nothing without our leader. Kei-chan said it himself, NEWS is nothing without Yamapi. What if the popularity with his current group mixed with the popularity of this dream units finally gives them the nudge to go solo? Whether they decide it themselves or Johnny’s “suggests” it.

All and all, I’m pretty excited by this. The group possibilities are endless.

You could have Jin and Koki from KAT-TUN, Kusano formerly from NEWS, and Sho from Arashi to make a hip-hop/rap group.
You could have Yamapi and Tegoshi from NEWS, Kame from KAT-TUN, Jun from Arashi and Subaru from Kanjani8 to make an elite vocal group.
You could have TegoMass and Yuri Chinen from Hey! Say! Jump form and cute group.
And so on.
