The 30 Day Idol Challenge: Day 6

I decided that I needed a nice change of pace for my blog. I’ve been playing a game of catch up on my blog recently. And whenever I have to play catch up I become unmotivated pretty quickly, because then it almost feels like I’m being forced to blog. And it really takes all the fun and enjoyment out of blogging. PV reviews are probably my favorite posts to make, but feeling obligated to do a mad rush of 10 or so in a matter of days is really a drag. However, the push is from no one but myself. I actually feel like I’ll lose readers or people will become disappointed/bored if I don’t review all the PVs, since I’ve made them the main selling point of my blog.

This post has take a rather unpleasant turn, so enough of the talk and onto the main focus of this blog. And that’s continuing the The 30 Day Idol Challenge. Now, I’m constantly playing catch up on my blog and focusing on idol news, that I have completely overlooked this challenge completely. The last post I made about this was back in October. I’m a little bummed about that myself.

Let’s get on with today’s question which is: “Your favorite sub-group?”

Now, there are, and have been, tons of idol sub-groups out there. I mean, I could have picked anything. But over the nearly 4 years of blogging and over 5 years of being an idol fan the answer to this question was extremely obvious. And keeping up with past answers you know I couldn’t pick just one group.

Buono:

Of course Buono is one of my absolute favorite sub-groups. I’ve been a dedicated fan of Buono ever since they first formed. And I think anyone that reads my blog can tell I’m a big Buono fan since I named my blog after one of their songs. Buono is one of those groups that keep getting better. Virtually whatever type of music they have they manage to pull it off. From super cutesy, to rock, to ska, to soft ballads, even auto tuned. Buono is just absolutely perfect! And everyone’s singing in Buono is top notch. I mean, watch some of their concerts. A lot of the time they sound almost identical to the CD. Which is super impressive. And the girl’s voices blend together perfectly. I seriously can never get enough of Buono. Their songs are constantly stuck in my head, and I’m constantly singing them. And their B-sides and album songs are just as catchy as their A-sides, which doesn’t always happen with idol groups.

Watarirouka Hashiritai/7:

Now, I haven’t been a Warota fan for nearly as long as I have been a Buono fan, but that doesn’t mean I love them any less. Watarirouka Hashiritai is just another perfect idol group in my eyes. They have the insanely cutesy idol voices that I absolutely adore, and they are making the exact kind of idol music that is my favorite. Upbeat, happy, cute, and sweet enough to make you lose your teeth. Watarirouka Hashiritai might only have one album, but they make up for it by usually having anywhere from 2-5 B-sides to keep you interested. They might have a few songs that I’m not a fan of, but collectively their songs are amazing and they put me in such a happy mood. And it doesn’t matter if they gain, lose, and then gain members the music never gets effected and they keep coming out with even better songs.

Buono’s mind-blowing new PV

Recently the full PV Deep Mind, off of Buono’s upcoming double A-side single, Hatsukoi Cider/Deep Mind, was released.

This PV review is pretty late, and I apologize for that. Actually I’m behind in a lot of PVs. But things haven’t really slowed down as quickly as I was expecting after the holidays. I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family. Which is honestly more important than blogging. But since the holidays are completely over now, I have more time to blog. (And spam all the mundane announcements I’m behind on. XD)

Much like the PV for Hatsukoi Cider, the PV for Deep Mind is extremely simple and low budget. It’s also relying on nothing more than Buono’s charisma and personality to sell the PV, just like the Hatsukoi Cider PV did. And I gotta say it completely works again. Deep Mind is actually a far cheaper PV than Hatsukoi Cider. With Hatsukoi Cider you had varried shots, camera angles, and scene transitions. Deep Mind doesn’t have anything fancy like that. Instead it’s just Buono and a band. Making it a very raw PV that looks more like a rock video than and idol video. The PV looks like it’s shot underground or some other desolate location, with extremely dim lighting. Giving this very dark and powerful look to the PV. In it’s own way it makes Buono pop and demand your attention. The girls are also wearing this gorgeous plaid dresses, that are very rockish but also puffy and completely idol like at the same time.

I have to say everything about this single is perfect. I don’t have any complaints about it. This is one of the best singles Buono has released up until now, honestly. I don’t know how Buono does but the quality of their music just keeps getting better and better. Whenever I think their next release might not be as solid as their last they go above and beyond my expectations.

I love how intense Airi looks.

The heavy focus on the band really works for this PV.

Adorable.

How is it that Airi can go from so cute one minute to so alluring the next so seamlessly?

I just love Airi. How can anyone possibly not adore this girl?

I absolutely love these dresses. And those shoes for that matter.

Momoko trying to look shy. XD

Miya’s being too overdramatic.

But she looks absolutely stunning. And that necklace oddly means me think of their Gachinko de Ikou PV.

Cute.

Miyabi really does look really gorgeous in this PV. Still not a fan of her short hair though.

Airi is just so effortlessly cute.

Whoa kicking. How very Kanashimi Twilight of them.

Not gonna lie, I really like this dance move. XD

Airi. *O*

Nice pose.

Wink.

Of course we have to see Momoko’s intense creepy smile at least once. Lol.

Very alluring Momoko. XD

Adorable.

Buono’s new PV packs a punch

A few days ago Buono’s the PV for Hatsukoi Cider from their upcoming double A-side single, Hatsukoi Cider/Deep Mind, was released.

I absolutely love this PV, it’s the perfect example of having a cheap PV still be entertaining. There is hardly anothing going on in this PV at all. There are literally only 4 different scenes in the entire PV and they are all filmed on the exact same set. Even the set is completely simple. It’s just Buono in front of large cardboard cut-outs of a City’s silhouette. Which I actually really love. It’s incredibly simple and cheap, but at the same time it’s really beautiful. And it really works for the contrast of the PV. The city set is in black and white allowing Buono who are dressed in hot pink to really pop out. And I have to admit at first look I thought, “Oh man, they have New York City behind them.” But then I realized why in the world would it be NYC, it’s obviously Tokyo. And what I mistook as the Brooklyn Bridge is most likely supposed to be Rainbow Bridge. But I still can’t get over that’s it’s shaped more like the Brooklyn Bridge. XD But the set really works and fits them. What’s more Buono-like then them singing in front of their back-up band?
The rest of the PV is filled with close-up shots of the members. By their microphones, next to the cut-out city, and shot from below. There are also these really amazing, really creative scene transition scenes that lead to the next scene through each member’s legs, arms, or hands. And I think they add a really artistic and fun flare to the PV, and are definitely my favorite scenes in the entire PV.
And you know what? That’s the entire PV. Nothing else happens. No dance shots, no multiple sets or outfits. But you hardly even notice or miss those added elements. Because from start ot finish this PV is nearly 4 mniutes of Buono showing off their personality. Buono themesleves make the PV fun and entertaining to watch. And nearly every second Buono is doing something adorable or fun. Especially during the scenes where they are filmed form below. They were probably just told to dance and twirl around as they want as there’s no dance. But they are still some of the best scenes in the whole PV. And that’s because when idols are allowed to be themselves or do their own thing that’s when you really see the best of them.

I absolutely love the set.

Momoko being cute already. I hate that only Momoko is weraing shorts. All the other members look old. While Momoko looks cuter and more youthful.

I miss Miya’s old hair.

It wouldn’t be Momoko is she wasn’t overacting.

Airi looks adorable with this hair.

It’s awesome that Momoko is wearing creepers.

Short hair or not Miyabi still looks really pretty.

I love this hairstyle on Momoko. I wish she’d do this style more often then the pigtails she always wears.

They needed an excuse to close-up on Momo’s legs.

I love these scenes.

But they do remind me a bit of Perfume’s Love The World PV.

Airi is adorable.

Lolz at Airi’s dancing.

Cute.

Aww.

Airi’s sultry face.

The cutest transition.

Bother bother.

Airi. *O*

Nai~

Airi is so confused by Airi’s shenanigans.

Cute.

I love that Momoko always jumps in PVs.

Adorable!

Momo creeping per usual.

Doki Doki.

Momoko is just so cute.

Momoko and her famous pinky. Lolz at how she’s doing 2 here.

Cute.

Wink!

It’s adorable to end on a jump.

Buono-Deep Mind radio rip

The full radio rip for Buono’s upcoming 13th single, Deep Mind, has just been released.

I’m gald that aftering releasing the extremely soft Natsu Dakara Buono is releasing another rock song. However, I am just not into this song. Despite it having a rock beat the music isn’t intense or powerful enough. It is still rather slow paced, and doesn’t really pick up the entire song. The singing also adds to the bland washed up feel of the song. The singing itself feels very lazy, and there are several parts where it doesn’t feel as polished as it could be. Like Miyabi’s solo right before the bridge. Which is really disappointing as Miyabi has one of my favorite voices in all of H!P, and she’s better than that. This song as doesn’t really know what style it wants to be, as towards the end of the song they switch to autotuned electronic voices briefly. Which I guess is supposed to be a nod to their mini album Partenza. Which honestly had better songs than this single. Partenza ~Let’s Go~ was a pretty weird song, but I absolutely loved it because Buono just went for it. I hate to say it but Buono’s past 2 singles (This single and Natsu Dakara.) have hardly been their best. And at this point I kinda wish they split Zassou no Uta and Juicy He@rt into 2 singles, just because both songs were great.

Buono to release 13th single

It was announced recently that Buono will be releasing their 13th single. The single is entitled Deep Mind, and the release date is currently unknown. The song is going to be used as the theme for Buono’s upcoming moving Gomen Nasai.

After only releasing one single last year, I’m glad to see that Buono is being extremely active this year. This year Buono has released 3, soon to be 4, singles, a mini album, are staring in an upcoming movie, and are doing concerts. All while Berryz Koubou and C-ute remain as active as ever. I don’t understand how the members of Buono haven’t died of exhaustion yet.

As to what this single is going to be like is anyone’s guess. The title seems to have a dark feel to it. So, maybe will get a song along the lines of My Boy again, because I seriously doubt Buono will ever release anything heavier than that.

Bu.o.no.- Co.no.mi.chi.

Buono’s 6th single, co.no.mi.chi. is being released on January 21st. I always thought the word was konomichi. So now I’m a little confused.

I absolutely love the music for this song. They have really rockish parts and then totally cute parts you’d expect from H!P. But does anyone else notice in the middle of the song the random guy saying yeah a few times? That make me laugh the first time I heard it. I’m really happy though, because this song is 150 times better than Rottara Rottara. This song has that cool rock feel that drew me into Buono to begin with. I’d say this song is my 2nd favorite Buono single. It’s gonna be tough to dethronmy top Buono song, Gachinko de Ikou.

I don’t think words can describe how much I’m in love with the outfits for the PV. They are amazing and really cute. As for the video it’s pretty cute. They walk all over the world and switch outfits accordingly. And that’s basically it, but the dance is really cute. Another good thing about this PV is it’s pretty Momoko centered which is epic! I love that actually did something with her hair this time. Her hair is starting to get long again, but I think it looks perfect at this length. I’ll be really sad if she continues to let it grow.

Watching the PV I noticed similarities with other H!P PVs.

1. W- Aa Ii na

Not only did they copy the entire just walking concept, they also walked in a similar safari setting.

2. Morning Musume Hawaiian Single Medley.

Ok, it’s not 100% the same but it is similar even the rainbow part.

3. Buono-Kiss Kiss Kiss

Why do they always drink in their videos?

Cafe Buono pizza

Buono was featured in two 15 second commercials for Pizz-la delivery pizza. Which according to the Pizza-la website is the no.1 delivery pizza. I absolutely love the outfits they are wearing. And everyone looks super cute, especially Airi. The little dance in the middle is very cute too, as expected from Buono. But I can’t seem to get past the announcer’s creepy voice.

But Buono endorsing it doesn’t make me want this pizza. It actually looks really gross. Somehow Hot Hokkiado Potato Gratin Pizza just doesn’t sound too appetizing. There’s also pieces of corn in it. Just eww. This actually makes me happy that I don’t live in Japan. There’s a lot of weird Japanese pizza out there. From clams to shrimp and mayonnaise.

Lotta Lotta Buono

I’ve been waiting impatiently for Buono’s PV release and it’s finally here! I don’t know if I’m jumping for joy at this particular video. But Buono can do no wrong in my eyes. They defiantly delivered another hit. I think all of their songs are good but this is my least favorite single by them. The song is just as you’d expect from them happy and upbeat. With their first concert coming up I think we can expect Buono to be around for at least another year or more.

Surprisingly Airi and Miyabi stand out the most and Momoko kinda fades into the background to me. Airi looks adorable, she reminds me of Minnie Mouse. Miyavi looks gorgeous in this video. I am a very big fan of the curls she’s sporting. But Momoko pretty much looks they same. They stuck a headband in her hair and called it a day. They should at least attempt to change her hairstyle up, like they did in the Honto no Jibun PV. I think the 70’s TV show theme explains the Minnie Mouse poka dot dresses. That I wasn’t a big fan of at first, but they are defiantly cute. The dances portion of the video kinda falls flat a little bit. But the close up scenes are amazing. Everyone looks so pretty in them. Especially Airi she dominates the cuteness of this video. The dance is pretty simple. It seems like Buono’s dances have a pattern. They have a good dance then a stupid one.

So overall I think they song could be a little better but it’s still an awesome song. And I’m in love with the video.

Rottara Rottara preview

So I decided not to make a post for Buono’s new song preview when it made it’s way on youtube about a week ago. Thinking the PV would be out already. Since whenever I make preview posts the PV is released practically the next day, but of course it didn’t happen that way. And now my preview post is old news being a week behind. I give up I’m just going to post previews from now on. I’ll post my actual review of the song when the PV comes out. So here’s the preview. Like you haven’t heard it before. ;]

Buono! – Gachinko de Ikou

Buono!’s new PV was finally released, in what seemed like forever to come out. From the moment I heard the preview of this song I was in love with it. I think the effects of this song are cool, like the “sou” parts. It sounds like all of their other songs for the most part, but hey that’s what sells for them. I hope they get to release another album cause the album songs were so different from the singles.

The outfits are a big step up from the Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! because Miyabi had the best outfits and the other ones were borderline ugly. So it’s nice to see super cute clothes all around, though Momoko’s is defiantly my favorite. On the topic of Momoko, looking at that picture Momo looks bigger compared to the other girls. In the same way with W. When Aibon stood next to Tsuji (especially noticeable in the Robo Kiss video) she looked bigger. Not fat by all means. But I think Aibon was chubbier back then and perhaps Momo is just built differently. But I don’t really know if she always looked like that cause I usually don’t pay attention to thing like that. Anyway, Miyabi is sporting a snazzy new dye job in this PV. It looks amazing. She should have changed it years ago. Though it would probably look weird on her when she was younger.

As far as the video goes, it’s probably my favorite video from them. Because it’s just so fun, but tough luck on them not winning better prizes. 😛 I thought the dance was really cute. Buono! always has pretty simple dances but in the same respect they are probably some of the best, in my opinion. The Edo no Temari Uta II dance just didn’t cut it for me. And I’m not quite sure why you have to wear a suit to play jenga. I think when H!P members wear suits, for the most part, it looks awkward. Unless Risa is wearing it then it just looks awesome.
