Kitahara Sayaka 2nd single preview

It was announced recently that Kithara Sayaka will be releasing her 2nd solo single. The single is titled Kanari Junjou and is being released on November 9th. The song is currently being used as the ending theme to the anime Inazuma Eleven, just like her first solo single, Yappa Seishun, was.

I can’t really say that I’m excited by the fact that Sayaka is releasing another single. Her voice isn’t really the most pleasant idol voice out there.
The song itself sounds a lot like Yappa Seishun. Listen to Kanari Junjou and Yappa Seishun back to back, and you’ll see that they have nearly identical instrumentals. And because of that I’m impressed with this song about just as much as I was with Yappa Seishun, which wasn’t a whole lot. I probably like this song less that Yappa Seisun. During the chorus you can really hear the screechyness in her voice. In the verse she doesn’t sound that bad. It’s just went she forces her voice to sing in a higher range than she’s capabale of, that her voice is nearly unbearable.

S/mileage-Tachiagaaru song and PV preview

Recently the radio rip and PV preview for Smileage’s upcoming 7th single, Tachiagaaru, has been released. Which is the first single to feature the new sub-members and is the first single without Saki.

When the sub-members were first announced I was completely eager to hear the new members in action. I know a lot of S/mileage fans were worried that the new single wouldn’t even be worth buying. But I wasn’t concerned in the least about that, I knew it wasn’t likely that S/mileage was going to dissapoint me. And after listening to the song, it once again proved that S/mileage hardly ever messes up. The song isn’t anywhere near as over the top, and energetic as Uchouten Love. But it is an extremely cute song. They most likely had to have a tamer song to make it more comfortable for the new members. Especially since some of them aren’t the best singers. But on the other hand Maji Desu ka Ska wasn’t really that easy for the 9th gen. Even though the song is sung softly, it definitely has the S/mileage feel to it. The music sounds pretty much like their other songs jumbled together, and there’s a lot of background vocalizations that S/mileage seems to include in their songs a lot. And S/mileage seem to be taking this whole sub member thing to heart. The song is heavily lead by the 3 remaining original members. It seems like the sub-members only get one solo line each, which is to be expected. I’m not even sure if all the sub-members get a solo line because I’m not familiar enough with their voices yet. It sounds like Akari, Rina, and Meimi have lines. So, if they have solos most likely Kana and Fukuya have ones as well.

S/mileage was recently on Sakigake to promote their new single, so we get a short PV preview because of that. The preview is only about 20 seconds long, which is hardly enough time to really get a feel for the PV. Mostly because in that 20 seconds all we can see is the dance shot. and some small close-ups. And you can never tell if that’s all the PV is, or if there is more to it. However, the one thing you can tell about the PV is that it’s cheap. So far all we can see is S/mileage dancing on sand in front of some sort of desert background during the night and day. The set honestly reminds me of the Shortcut set, since both times they were dancing on sand. The PV also shows 2 different close-ups. One in the dance set and one group close-up. Which kind of makes it seem like that’s all there is to the PV. I wish that wasn’t the case, but we all know that idol PVs in general are usually less than spectacular.

By the way, this video is their entire apperance on Sakigake, the PV preview doesn’t start until 7:21 and than again at 7:56. But you should also be sure to watch Rinapuu singing a line of the chorus at 7:31 and sounding absolutely adorable and nearly flawless.

Kikkawa Yuu-Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ PV short version

Recently a short version of the PV for Kikkawa Yuu’s 2nd single, Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ was released. Which is most likely 2/3 of the actual PV, and spoils the surprise of the full version. I can’t stand when they release more than A 30 second preview of a PV. If they are going to release 23 of the PV, why not just release the full PV?

When I saw the first PV preview for this song I was completely dissapointed because it looked like it was nothing more than Kikka in the recording studio. However, that couldn’t be farther than the truth. I am a huge Kikka fangirl and was practically sold after the first 20 seconds. The PV is absolutely amazing, and seems to have a big budget. It’s dynamic and has a lot of different scenes and elements in the PV. Kikka is wearing 3 different outfits, is shot in  4 or 5 different locations, has 3 different close-ups shots, a dance shot, and is featured doing a handful of different activites. The PV is a quintessential summer PV, and some elements of it remind me of ManoEri’s Hajimete no Keiken PV. This PV blows Kikka’s first PV out of the water. However, Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ is only half as good a song as Kikkake wa You. But it is growing on me.
Everything about this PV is just perfect. Kikka looks absolutely flawless, and with each passing single it proves more and more that Kikka should have been a soloist for years now. I absolutely cannot wait until the full version is released.

no3b to release 8th single

AKB48 subgroup, no3b, announced recently that they will be releasing an 8th single. The single is currently untitled and will be released on November 2nd.

No3b is one of my favorite AKB48 sub-groups. They always release consistanly good songs. And their last single, Kuchibiru Furezu, was amazing both song and PV wise. Hopefully their new song is just as good. But I would still prefer a song along the lines of their earlier singles. But for some reason I have a feeling this song will be a lot calmer.

Berryz Koubou and C-ute to release collab single

It was announced recently that Berryz Koubou and C-ute will be releasing their first ever collab single for their upcoming collaboration concert. The single is entitled Amazuppai Haru ni Sakurasaku and will be released on November 9th. This song will also be used as the ending theme for the movie Oosama Game, which Berryz Koubou and C-ute are featured in.

It seems that H!P is doing some pretty interesting things recently. With the Mobekimasu single, and this one, there’s a lot more going on then the usual random single ever 3 months or so. I am excited for a C-ute collab single, but I don’t think it will work as well as it would have when Berryz Koubou and C-ute were the same size and were doing their first collav concert. But for the Berryz Kamen vs Cuite Ranger they only shared a B-side, which was a bit lack luster in my opinion. Apparently there is going to be a C-ute version and a Berryz version of the PV. Does that mean their won’t be a join version ar all? Which makes it basically an exact copy of what they did with Darling I Love You. If you’re doing a collaboration wouldn’t it make sense to have just 1 version?

But I will wait until the single comes out before I judge it.

AAA needs a wake-up call

By now AAA’s PV for Call has been out for over a month, and has officially become old news. But since it’s new news to me, and I really want to cover AAA more on this blog, I felt like writing up a PV review of this anyway.

After watching this PV I’m left with the same reaction as all of AAA’s recent singles. Where I’m impressed with the setting and visuals, but less than impressed with the PV itself. Honeslty to me it seems like AAA is in a funk, or management just isn’t sure what to do with AAA anymore. Lately, and to a lesser extent in general, all of AAA’s PVs have been nearly the same. Recently their PVs have followed the format of AAA is in an expensive setting, for the first minute or two they walk around, then they randomly flash to a dance shot that is exactly in the center of where AAA was walking around. They’ve actually kind of been doing that for a while now. That’s exactly what they did in the PVs for No Cry No More, Get Chu, Paradise, Music, and Daiji na Koto. They either do that or they have these PVs that are all filmed in the same place like BLOOD on FIRE, Hallelujah, or Hide and Seek. Every once in a while AAA has some interesting, fun, and weird PVs thrown in. But AAA hasn’t really been making anything interesting lately. Both music and PV wise. When are we gonna get another PV like Q, Kuchibiru Kara Romatica, Dragon Fire, or Mirage,? Despite Dream After Dream ~Kara Sameta Yume~ being extremely cheap and nothing more than a green screen, it still managed to be an interseting watch. And the song is incredible, definitely one of my favorite AAA singles.
Call is definitely falling into the first catagory. I mean the PV isn’t terrible. On the contrary, the PV is semi enjoyable to watch. The PV has a good setting, and looks like it was expensive to make. AAA’s PVs always look high budget. The PV follows the members of AAA around as they go to some celebrity party in a mansion. So, there’s obviously a really beautiful mansion setting. But that mansion is the best part of the whole PV. The PV doesn’t really go above and beyond, it’s not even trying to. It’s just settling with mediocrity. I guess Avex thinks an average PV is better than a bad one. But the sad part is, AAA could probably make an intersting PV. They obviously seem to have the budget for it.

Naoya almost looks attractive here. But that’s because sunglasses are covering half his face. XD

This guy reminds me of the guy Perfume’s Laser Beam PV.

I don’t even know why. They don’t look remotely similar. It’s just the material of the mask I guess. XD

OMG Nishi’s jacket looks like a couch.

Nishi is almost good looking. He’s probably about a 5. If he didn’t have duck face he would be higher. Which is honestly the problem with Matsushita Yuya’s face too.

Random bouquet is random.

I absolutely love Mitsuhiro’s outfit.

I hate all the stupid faces he makes whenever he raps. I never see Tanaka Koki making faces like this.

That’s a hot outfit Shinjiro is wearing. And he does looks significantly better than he did a few years ago.

The way Shuta keeps swinging his head is really annoying me. XD

I think I’m the only one who’s not in love with Misako. I think Chiaki is way cuter. And I absolutely love her dress. It looks like something Betsey Johnson would make. And by the way, what’s with the paparazi in the house?

Look at that adorable smile.

AAA’s dances are always terrible.

But that’s what happens when you have to worry about the dance not being too masculine or too feminine.

You know, Chiaki is a lot cuter than I ever noticed.

For some reason this chest popping dance move make me break out laughing.

He always makes rapping look much more intense then it needs to be. XD

Nothings manlier than randomly fixing your hair.

I wish her eyelashes weren’t so thick.

I really like this set.

Creepy face!

I didn’t know Jpop singer Ai was in this PV. XD I can’t be the only one who thinks that kinda looks like her.

Look how fake and forced that is.

Nishi’s too.

He looks kinda cute here actually. XD

SUPER GiRLS show off their girl power in new PV

The official Avex youtube channels has uploaded the full PV to SUPER GiRLS’s 3rd single, Joshiryoku Paradise. Which seems pretty fast if you ask me. I don’t remember SUPER GiRLS releasing a radio rip or PV preview for this song. And the single isn’t even being released until October 5th.

I’m not completely in love with the song. It is a little bland and kind of generic. The song only gets interesting when the chorus hits. And even that’s not really anything to write home about.
But that doesn’t even matter, the song doesn’t really matter. I barely paid attention to the song. I was too busy focusing on the PV. The PV is absolutely incredible! Words can’t even describe or explain how much I love this PV. On a scale of 1-10 it’s probably a 100. This video encompases exactly what SUPER GiRLS is, and that’s a giant idol cliche. SUPER GiRLS doesn’t do, hasn’t done, anything that is remotely unique. For their first PV for Miracle ga Tommanai they wore costumes that looked extremely similar to a bunch of different costumes other idols have worn. For their first single’s PV they did the ever popular idol go to, of a school/school girl PV. For their 2nd single, and 3rd PV, they make a bikini themed PV. And finally this PV is taking elements from Momiro Clover Z. And you know what? I’m not angry about it, and it actually doesn’t bother me the slightest. Because this is a big reason why I love SUPER GiRLS. When it comes to idols I usually like all the obvious idol sounding songs and PVs. It seems that whoever is in control of SUPER GiRLS studied all the current idols and then took the best parts to make this  Frankenstein’s monster type of idol group. And I couldn’t be happier about it.

But onto my actual opinions of the PV. The PV is basically the standard  dance shot and close-ups. But they do throw in a little side story. A nice chunk of the PV focuses around the girls in a “super girls meeting” to decide what type of costume they are going to wear. Or at least that’s what I get out of it. During this meeting the girls are also dressed up in costumes of every guy’s fantasy. A cheerleader, a police officer, a maid,  nurse, etc. Much like they did in Momoiro Clover Z’s PV for Ikuze Kaitou Shoujo. And it copies the costumes almost to a T. I think there’s only 1 or 2 outfits that Momoiro Clvoer Z didn’t wear in their PV. But despite that, I am absolutely in love with this PV. It is just cuteness overload. There is not one frame of the entire PV that isn’t absolutely sugary idol sweet. They even make an incredibly simple dance look adorable. Also, they get extra points for shoving my favorite, Ami, upfront in the dance.

I see SUPER GiRLS are continuing their plot to take over the world.

The outfits are super cute. However, they are a total rip-off.

Of Morning Musume.

And AKB48.

Even this woah oh woah dance move is cute.

My god Ami is the cutest thing ever! And Meiri really stands out with that hat.

The soccer outfit reminds me of Go Girl ~Koi no Victory~ and Yappa Seishun. Too lazy to find the pics. But I’m sure you’re familiar with the PVs. XD

Random ikebana.

I love how Aya is trying to add sexiness to her close-up. And you know, what it’s working.

The mics during group close-ups are a good idea. They add an extra cute factor.

But it’s hardly original.

Adorable.

A typical gyaru.

But Nono pulls it off better.

Come on. How is skipping a dance move?

These 4 have the most entertaining close-up shots. And Reira looks so striking here.

Product placement! Because come on, even if they don’t show the lable everyone knows that’s pocky.

Reira standing out again.

Cute. Rina really has a lot of personality.

Seriosuly? A telescope move? XD

Lol.

Oh the similarities!

To Passpo.

And of course MomoClo.

I’m guessing Aya is a secretary.

Just like Kanako.

Adorable. But lol at Kaede.

Ami!

Cute.

But Shiori had a better maid outfit.

Ruka looks super adorable here.

Rino so adorable. *O*

Impromptu paper fight!

I’m not really sure what’s so appealing about being a miko.

But Reni was one too. So, obviously there is something.

Nurse Kaede.

Nurse Akari.

Adorable Rino.

This is kinda creepy actually. XD

This is kinda cheesy, but it fits in the PV perfectly.

Cute!

AAA-I4U radio rip

A while ago I said that I that I would be blogging about AAA more since, over the years AAA has grown on me. However, that hasn’t been going as smoothly as I hoped it would. Since I made that post AAA released a digital single, and announced they would be releasing a double A-side single called Call/14U on August 31. Which I just heard about now. And because of that the first A-side already has a full PV that was released last month. So, I am completely behind. But the good news is from now on I’ll be up to date with AAA. And despite Call being old news I am going to do a PV review of it shortly.

But on the subject of actual news, the radio rip for the second A-side, I4U, has just been released.

I4U sounds pretty much like a majority of AAA songs. And because of that the song gets pretty much lost in the crowd. There’s not really anything exciting in the song to make it standout against all their past songs. Which is honestly why I get bored of AAA easily. The song is simple with extremely soft music. The only interesting part of the song is when Mitsuhiro starts rapping. His rapping is usually the highlight, in my opinion, of most of their songs. It was Mitsuhiro’s rapping that made me fall in love with Music, which is probably my favorite AAA song.
I really wish I wasn’t so far behind in my AAA news, because Call completely blows I4U out of the water.

One Drop short version

KAT-TUN, has released a short version for their new single One Drop. It’s only 1:40, which is not really long enough. I can’t wait for the full version! And since it’s only the short version I’m not going to even comment about the video or song until the full version is. Which means I can’t even comment on how gorgeous Jin looks in the video. ;]

In more KAT-TUN – One Drop news, they preformed their new song on the February 2nd episode of Heyx3. What’s even more amazing about this? Some lovely person from LJ subtitled it. And someone uploaded it to youtube, probably without the subbers permission. So watch it while you can. If it gets removed it’s not my fault.

They also disabled embeding it, so here’s the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNNuZbdE20s

The preformance is awesome and I love the lyrics. And pretty much everyone is looking pretty hot in the Heyx3 preformance. Also Kame sporting a slightly different hair style. Which looks pretty hot. So ugly hair no more! And I didn’t realize, until the other day when I rewatched Johnny’s new year’s countdown, that Kame was wearing the one drop hair. Jin looks so sexy in his black hat! And of course Ueda is looking pretty hot. And even more suprising Koki looks really hot with his hair like that. But sorry to Maru and Taguchi I never notice them.

KAT-TUN PV preview

KAT-TUN has a 15 second preview of their new single One Drop, that’s being released in February. It was for a Dwango commercial. I’m not really sure what Dwango is but I’m guessing it’s a CD store or something.

Within those short 15 seconds a few things jumped out at me. First of all, JIN! I don’t really need to say more than that. Another thing is I really love Ueda with that hair. But he defiantly looked better with his black hair. And I can barely make out anyone else. But I can kinda of see Koki. But it doesn’t seem like he’s changed at all. His hair is still back and slicked back.

And Kame, I kind of wish I couldn’t see him. What’s up with his hair? When I first saw him I honestly though, wait a minutes Jun Matsumoto isn’t in KAT-TUN. I think I died a little inside when I noticed it was really him. What’s happened to his sleek, straight, and sexy hair? It’s all curly, flipped, and feathered. It’s disgusting! Why must so many JE members make bad hair choices?

Anyway, I’m still looking forward to the rest of the PV because KAT-TUN in all black is just hot. And I’m glad that this song is faster paced then their last single, White Xmas.

Repeat of Resonant?

Pepper Keibu is out! At least the PV is anyway. Actually really quickly. I’m not sure how long it takes for PV’s to come after song previews are out. Because I have this weird habit of not listening to the preview because I think it will ruin the surprise when the PV comes out. Anyway, weird habits aside for now. I have been listening to this song like crazy. I honestly didn’t expect it to be as good as it is. The effects are really cool. And the vocal pairings of the song are brilliant. After watching the video I noticed Reina is the only one who got a solo line, I thought Sayumi did as well. I guess I was wrong. I’d like to see Risa or Eri in the front instead of Reina. But Reina has a great voice and she defiantly earned that spot.

As far as the PV goes I’m calling a repeat of Resonant Blue. And just because the dance routine and member screen is more fair. And they have a few more snappy camera angles doesn’t make it better than the Resonant Blue’s disappointment. It’s still a dance shot and not what I wanted to see. But more versions will probably be out for this just like Resonant. But here’s my big question on that. If they really do have other versions why not just make that the official PV? That doesn’t really make sense to me. Aside from it being a dance version I like the video. It is very discoy. Glittery backdrops and all.

I would have changed a few things about this though. For starters, I would definably an actually PV. None of this massive editing to make you forget you’re only watching a dance shot. I would also change the music and melody of the song. I love this cover to death don’t get me wrong. But I would love to see it sound more like Morning Musume. More of their take on the song rather than sticking to the original so closely.

But I really think we have a hit on our hands. Hopefully this song will get them to number one on oricon. And perhaps take them out of this slump they are in. They are too good to go downhill any further.
