Why Momusu’s new PV was the letdown of the year

Last mont the full PV for Morning Musume’s 50th single, and apparent double A-side, One-Two-Three/The Matenrou Show. I say apparent because obviously The Matenrou Show never got a PV at all. Which does fuel the flames a bit.

One-Two-Three was the single that was hyped so much. It seemed every chance they got H!P was teasing us even more with it. The gorgeous outfit preview from Hello!Pro Time. The fancams of the performance of it from Tokyo Girls Collection. And the dance shot that was uploaded weeks before the full PV was out.

Now, between all of this it was enough to absolutely fall in love with everything about this single. The outfits were gorgeous, sexy but still cute at the same time, each girl had unique and pretty hairstyle, making the members look incredible from head to toe. The dance shot showed so much potential, it was finally filmed in a well decorated set. It appeared that they finally put some real effort into it. And of course the song is absolulte perfection in my opinion. All of this gave not just myself, but the entire H!P fandom as a whole, these gigantic expectations for the PV. Expectations that sadly this PV couldn’t fill.

After watching this PV for the first time the only thing I could muster out was, “I’m so disappointed.” And I completely am, I feel like flipping tables over here. Never have I seen a PV set up to be such flawless perfection, and then drop the ball so completely. This PV had everything going for it. Flawless outfits, flawless girls, and an interesting dance set. All they had to do was make sure the close-up scenes weren’t awful and they’d be home free.

But apparently that was too much to ask. Instead the close-up shots consist of them standing in a room of mirrors acting like dolls on display. I don’t think quite possibly anything out there cheaper looks than glass/mirrors. But again I guess there is because if you look really closely I don’t even think they are even in a room filled with glass. To me it look like they just digitally created the effect. Genius. However, the whole dolls on display thing is kind of cool. But at the same time, Fantasy Juuichi’s jacket called and they want their concept back.

It also wasn’t enough to make the close-up scenes awful. No, they had to take it one step further and make it look like the entire PV cost $5 to make. And how does one pull of such a feat? It’s simple really, download some snowflake and splatter brushes for photoshop, cover the entire span of the PV in them, and call it a day. They really need to question however thought that was a good idea. And what really makes me angry is, you could excuse the PV because they had to split the budget for 2 different PVs. Except they didn’t at all. They were supposed to, but didn’t. Did they really give all the budget to promotions? I honestly can’t complain if they did because my girls sold over 100k.

But at the same time we are once again we’re left with a PV that’s only enjoyable to watch because the girls look so pretty. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I just always expect a little more from my idols.

Bored already to be honest.

Oh, dramatic close-ups.

Ayumi looks amazing.

I absolutely love how intense the dance is.

Haruka’s default doll pose just looks so uniterested. Lol.

Oh ew, do they have to stay in the same position for the entire close-up?

They haven’t even shown her face yet and the girls is already bringing it.

Just wow Mizuki, super gorgeous.

Poor Erina gets one of the worst hiarstyles.

Zukki looks a little awkward in her close-ups, but that’s ok.

You know, I never really pay much attention to Haruna, but she looks incredible here.

However, Mizuki is the realy stand out for me. She’s really been stepping it up lately.

I love Ayumi’s hairstyle.

Riho being all flawless.

WTF is with this pose?

Haruka’s close-ups still don’t look natural enough for me.

Adorable.

Sayu is just not standing out in this PV really.

I think  my readers should know by now that I’m a sucker when it comes to idol winks.

My baby Masaki.

She’s just so cute.

Ah, wink again.

They’re killing me over here.

I don’t even know why, but I just love this shot.

Harunan wink.

Simply gorgeous.

Ah Ayumi, you still look a little creepy at times. Lol.

Adorable.

Words cannot describe how much I love Masaki.

Really love this hairstyle, but H!P seems to be overusing it lately.

Happy 4th birthday Janakya Mottainai!

My dear and loyal readers it’s time to put on your party hats and pop the champagne because Janakya Mottainai is celebrating it’s 4th birthday today! And I do mean actually today. This marks the first year of writing these blog birthday/anniversary posts that I’ve actually posted it on the actual day I started blogging. So, small victory there. The main reason I am finally posting this on my blog’s actual birthday is because if you haven’t noticed I haven’t really been blogging in a while. Mostly because real life has gotten in the way a bit, so I wanted this post to mark my triumphant return. So let’s thrown some extra confetti for that.

Well, you’d think after 4 years of blogging, and having written birthday post before, I’d finally have a grip of what to say here. You’d think that, but of course that’s not the case. I mean, what do you really say in situations like these?  Yet another year has past making it an astonishing 4 years. 4 years! If you would have told me 4 years ago that I’d still be blogging today I wouldn’t believe you. If you said I’d be posting nearly 4 times as much today as I did the first year there’s no way I would have believe you. And if you said you said 4 years later the love, interest, and support of my blog keeps growing and expanding each day I absolutely wouldn’t have believed you.

A lot has happened this past year. I moved my blog to a different site, which was totally intimidating for someone as awful at computers as myself. I also am more active on other sites that I’ve joined to spread the love of my blog. You guys should totally follow me on twitter and tumblr if you don’t already. Seriously, here’s my Twitter and my Tumblr.

But of course even more has happened in the world of idols and this blog. Complete ups and downs. Like losing my beloved Mitsui Aika and having my favorite Johnny’s group, NEWS, losing even more memebers, among them my favorite member Nishikido Ryo. And through it all I openly admited for the entire world just how much I cried over both things. Mostly because I don’t really care and I take my idols super seriously. But despite all the sad times nothing really compares to the excitement and thrill of your favorite idol releasing a perfect single, or an incredible concert, or announcing new auditions. It’s part of the intense roller coaster ride that being an idol fan is all about. And it’s seriously a range of emotions that only other idol fans can understand. It’s one of the only times where you can feel nervous, excited, and proud all at the same time.

It’s things like this that keep me interested in blogging and idols in general. There is constantly something going on, constantly idols coming and going, and constantly new idol groups forming. For me it’s a genre that’s never stagnant and I’ve never gotten bored of them yet. Which has happened with other genres before. And seriosuly the more idol groups you juggle the more exciting it is. Which is why I listen to so many different groups and feature so many on this blog. And people reading this, seriosuly don’t limit yourself to one gender of idol groups. Even if your not attracted to dudes, in my opinion Arashi have the most entertaining varitey shows out there, and no other idol group puts out as good a concert as them. And if even if you’re not into chicks in my opinion no other idol group is as fun, happy, and super positive as, well any female idol group really, but let’s say Momoiro Clover Z or Morning Musume. It is seriously impoosible to feel sad while watching their concerts.

Gosh, this post has turned way mushier than I expected. It’s turned more into a gush fest over my love of idols rather than a celebration of my blog. But in the same breath it seems kind of fitting because that’s basically what I do on this blog. Gush about my idols and poke the occasional fun at them. All out of love of course.

I’ve been blogging for th past 4 years but it hardly feels like that at all. It literally feels like I started just yesterday. And in that time I seriously love blogging way more than I did when I first started. 4 years have passed, and I can confidently chant 4 more years.

And in celebration of my blog here’s a live performance of the song I got my name from.
