A PV preview for AAA’s new single Charge & Go has just been released. It’s techically the short version of the PV. But since it’s the first peek we’re getting of the PV without it being the actual PV, it’s still a preview.
The first half of the preview is incredibly boring. It’s just a close-up of the AAA members faces singing. Which would be fine, if every didn’t looks incredible sad and emotionless at the same time. I don’t even know how that’s possible. Then it fashes the AAA dancing in front of gaint triangles. Which is equally boring. The only time the PV gets a little interesting is during the other close-up shots. It’s the first time we get a pop of color. After Call being a pretty decent PV, it seems AAA reverted back to their old ways and made a PV that looks exactly like every other PV by them.
The full PV for Arashi’s upcoming new single, Meikyuu Love Song, has been released.
This PV is hands down of Arashi’s best PVs in a while. I haven’t enjoyed a Arashi PV this much since Troublemaker was released. I do prefer the sillier more fun Arashi. As opposed to the super serious PVs they’ve been releasing lately which is usually nothing more than them just standing there. But this PV actually has something going on, and because of that it’s fantastic. The PV is basically JE’s take on Jumanji, but just with a far lower budget and no waiting in the jungle. The PV’s story is Arashi is on this life size game board, playing a life size game. Rolling the dice and doing whatever the game tells them to do. Which makes the PV completely fun and unserious. Visually I think the PV is great. The set is really beautiful and well made. The dark lighting gives it a dark slightly creepy feel. Which is mostly likely what they were going for so close to Halloween. I also think the guys are styled really well. I absolutely love their old fashioned looking jackets. There is one aspect of the PV that doesn’t make sense to me. Why is the set a game board? Meikyuu translates to labyrinth. And in the beginning of the PV it says the adventures of Puzzle Storm. Yet, the main set is a giant game board with giant dice. And random puzzle pieces thrown around. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never used dice while doing a puzzle, or walking through a labyrinth. A labyrinth would have been a better theme anyway. Having Arashi wander aimlessly through the maze, fighting monsters along the way before they finally become the Goblin Kings. And they would still have enough time to breakout into their own rendition of Magic Dance.
The board itself is a puzzle? That makes no sense. XD
The set is beautiful.
Woah, is that the clock from the Monster PV?
Love Ohno’s jacket.
Nino overacting. XD
Aiba trying to look cool.
Puzzle Storm sounds awkward, they should have kept their name in Japanese.
I love Sho’s whole outfit. XD
This isn’t how a board game works. Only 1 person is supposed to move.
Am I the only one annoyed that Nino makes this face at least once in every single PV he’s in? It doesn’t show deep emotion, it just makes you looks stupid.
I see he’s getting ready to pet the poodle, that is his hair.
It looks like Aiba is wearing the Gryffindor emblem on his shirt. That’s hilarious.
OMG, no way! We walked 6 places!
Nice face MatsuJun.
I love that they are sitting on the dice, it adds a nice effect.
What do playing cards have to do with anything?
Everyone overreact now!
This hair does nothing for you Nino. You’re practically a 10, but certainly not with this hair.
I have to admit, MatsuJun does look pretty cute in this PV.
Lol. Aiba is always the most entertaining.
Nino looks so adorable here, but it’s hard to look past all that hair. Lol.
Lying, absolutely everyone in the world does it. Some people on a daily basis. And if they tell you otherwise, well then it’s pretty obvious that they’re lying. However, there are certain people in this world that if they lie to you, you feel a high level of betrayal. When it comes to people you don’t know, it’s usually done by politicians or bankers. But I’m going to my cards on the table and say I feel just as betrayed when my favorite idol lies to me. Obviously idols tell tons of white lies on a daily basis. Mostly for the fan’s benefit to enhance the idol fantasy or overall experience. And most fans don’t mind. They’ll just eat up whatever their idol says. However, I think we can all agree that everyone hates the lies about graduating. If idols are leaving, or withdrawing, anyway, aren’t us fans at least entitled to an honest reason? Other then the vauge I need to continue my studies or the workload was too much.
The worst part is when the lie is so blatantly in your face obvious. Like saying you want to graduate to become a model, but then turn around and join Dream Morning Musume. But there’s no point in talking about past occurrences when there are fresh ones to complain about.
Like with Nishikido Ryo.
When Ryo announced his withdrawal from NEWS I was too devestated to think clearly let alone feel angry about it. But after I thought about it for a bit, it made absolutely zero sense. Being in 2 groups is too hard? First of all, since when? You’ve been doing it for 8 years now. And second of all, how in the world does Buono even exist then? I thought poor Ryo-chan was overworked because he had both NEWS and Kanjani8, he’s in dramas, and is extremely popular therefore in high demand. But then I started to think about the girls of Buono. If anyone is overworked it’s them. But for the sake of comparison let’s just say Suzuki Airi is extremely overworked. Buono has been around for 4 years, which is only half the spand of Kanjani8, and yet Airi is about 1,000 times more overworked. In 2011 Airi was in 6 different concert tours. Hello!Project’s summer and winter concerts, C-ute’s spring concerts, C-ute’s and Berryz Koubou’s joint fall concert, and Buono’s winter and summer concerts. Airi was in 3 movies: Vampire Stories, Ousama Game, and Gomennasai. Released 2 DVDs: Kibun Tenkan and Natsu Karada. Released 2 photobooks: Meguru Haru and OASIS. Is on the show HelloPro!Time. (and Bijou Gaku technically, but it was only a couple months in 2011) Released 2 albums. A full C-ute album and a mini album with Buono. Released 8 singles. 3 with Buono, 3 with C-ute, 1 with C-ute and Berryz Koubou, and 1 with Mobekimasu. Not to mention the 2 digital singles as part of H!P cover song releases. She was also in a few magazine spreads. Now, what has Ryo been up to this year that is too much for him to take? He released 4 singles. 4 with Kanjani8 and none with NEWS. He will be apart of exactly one concert tour this year, Kanjani8’s dome shows which haven’t even started yet. He’ll release 1 album with Kanjani8. He is in monthly magazine spreads as both NEWS and Kanjani8 in Myojo, Potato, Popolo, etc. He was in 1 drama, Zenkai Girl. He’s on 3 variety shows, all with Kanjani8 and none with NEWS: Boken Japan! Kanjani8 Map, Kanpani, and Jani-Ben.
All this really proves is that Airi deserves a medal. So how is it that a 17 year old girl can handle doing triple the work of a 26 year old man? It makes no sense. It’s pretty apparent that Ryo wanted out of NEWS for selfish reasons. Which is whatever, it’s his life. I honeslty would not have cared if he just said he didn’t want to be in NEWS anymore. Rather then pretending it’s because he’s too overworked. Because honestly he’s not. If NEWS was active at the same time, then possibly he would be. But since Kanjani8 was the only group active in 2011, how does that even make sense? And why wasn’t it too much for him in 2007 or 2008 when both groups were pretty active? Oh, the inconsistencies!
Another noted liar is Maeda Yuuka.
Now, this isn’t really anything against her personally, it’s just a rant against the “continue my studies” excuse H!P girls have been using for years. And since Yuuka is the most recent person to use it, all my anger at everyone from the past is directed at her. For the time being of course. Because if she honestly would prefer to be a student over an idol, good for her. And if she truly doesn’t to, want not just plainly say it? She’s leaving the agency as well, so she now has zero ties to it. So, even if she says it’s becasue she finds wota to be disgusting, it won’t affect her. But the main reason they don’t honestly say it is because they still want to be idols or in the entertaiment industry, but just not in their group. Just like with Kusumi Koharu who’s now in Dream Morning Musume. Or Hayami Akari who is in the movie Cheerfully, and is in a comedy show. Which to me, honestly, it seems a bit vindictive. Now, not being able to balance school life and idol life is absolutely 100% utter garbage. Johnny’s idols do it all the time. Johnny’s idols who are far more popular and would have a harder time of being treated as normal students. Koyama Keiichiro, Yamashita Tomohisa, and Inoo Kei are either curently going to or have graduated from Meiji University. Meiji is a pretty prestigious school. Which means most likely the work there is extremely difficult and there’s most likely a big work load. And if that’s still not good enough for you, what about Kato Shigeaki who graduated from law school? Do you realize just how difficult that is for a normal person, let alone for someone who is basically working full time? So, Shige can handle becoming a lawyer while still a NEWS member, but Yuuka can’t handle the entrance exams while in S/mileage? I find that incredibly hard to believe. For it to be true it would have to mean Johnny’s idol are super intelligent beings who never get tired. And H!P idols are frail, stupid little girls who dont know the meaning of time management. I find that incredibly hard to believe. Maybe there have been girls who legit can’t do it. But 6 or so girls have used this excuse. You’re telling me it’s true everytime? Give me a break.
This whole post was extremely obvious, as EVERYONE knows the H!P “leave to continue my studies” reason is a complete lie. But I really needed to rant about this to get out all my pent-up frustration.
The PV preview for French Kiss’s upcoming 4th single, Saisho no Mail, was released. And Avex must read my blog because the PV preivew is a nice short 40 seconds, like I prefer.
Since most of French Kiss’s PV tend to tell stories than have a regular idol PV, it’s no surprise that this PV seems to be exactly the same. Pretty much there are 2 scenes really in the PV so fare. Yuki and Asuka get a text message obviously from Aki, and then they meet up. The other scene is French Kiss randomly standing in a pure white sunlit room. Which makes me think that this song will not have a dance. Which is completely boring. The PV as a whole seems kinda boring. At least If had a better story, actually had a dance, and was a better song. I am just completely not into this single. The only positive I have about this is the girls look amazing. Especially Aki who’s rocking that shortcut. But the girls always look amazing. I want more from a PV.
It was just announced the S/mileage member Maeda Yuuka will be graduating fro S/mileage and Hello!Project on December 31st. Making Please Miniskirt Postwoman the last release to feature Yuukarin. Yuuka stated the reason for her departure is to focus on university entrance exams, and her studies in general.
I am in utter shock right now. I did not see this coming at all. After Saki left and the sub-member became official members, I thought S/mileage was in a good place now. That the line up would be stable for a while, and we could bask in the awesomeness that is the new S/mileage. Instead we are faced with heartbreak, and having to wait until 2012 for S/mileage’s next chapter to begin. Anyone who thinks the auditions was a one time thing, I think graduating the most popular member pretty much confirms that we’ll eventually see a 3rd gen for S/mileage. I this is just completely sad news. I’ve liked Yuuka ever since I laid eyes on her in the Cinderella Complex PV. And since then I’ve always rooted for her success. And I do really like Yuuka as an idol. Even if her jokes to fall flat at times, and she’s hardly the reigning queen of puns. I just find Yuuka to be incredibly charming. She is also one of the most adorable idols I have ever seen. And beyond that she’s has my favorite voice in S/mileage, and one of my favorites in all of H!P. It’s adorable and powerful at the same time, it’s just perfect. This graduation makes me worried for S/mileage as a whole now. Yuukarin was the most popular and pushed member. Who’s going to be the face now? Kanon? Meimi? This also makes me worried that any day now my beloved Kanyon will graduate. Even if Ayaka graduated soon, I’m not sure how I’d feel about a group of nothing but new members.
But regardless of anything Yuuka will be sorely missed, and I do wish her the best of luck on her entrance exams.
Are guys ready for yet another exciting and riveting instalment of the 30 day idol challenge? I sure hope you are, because that’s what you’re going to get.
Today’s question is: “Your Favorite Group?”
I’ve been saying what my top 2 idol groups a lot lately in this blog, and even during the 30 day idol challenge. So, this shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone.
Words cannot properly describe just how much I love Morning Musume. I have never followed any band, group, or artist as closely as I follow Momusu. I practically listen to their music religiously. Since I became a fan 4 years ago I have not gone 1 day without listening to at least one song by them. I absolutely love Morning Musume’s music. As a group that is constantly changing, their music is never the same. And they hardly have 2 songs that really truly sound the same. And no matter what I am feeling that day there’s always a song that expresses it perfectly. They pretty much have a song about everything. If I want to listen to songs about curry, Sukiyaki, pocky, or sushi. They have them. If I want to listen to random songs about pink rainbows, nature being good, or Sindbad. Of course they have those as well. There’s just this infecious and addictive quality to Morning Musume’s music. You cannot help but immediately love it and spontaneously become happy. It is physically impossible to feel sad when you’re listening to Morning Musume. Even if that song is Never Forget. I usally just say how beautiful it is when I listen to it. And if the music wasn’t enough you add the girls into this equation, and being a Morning Musume fan just seems obvious. I absolutely love love love the girls. They are just incredibly charming and entertaning. I feel a close attachment to them, in a weird way they feel like family. Whenever I see past members I get really nostalgic. Even if I wasn’t a fan when they were members, I just get this feeling of the good old days when they were a member. I love all the members, each one has something about them I like. Even if they aren’t my favorites. The members who aren’t my favorite have never failed to make me laugh or smile. Or feel attached to them in some way. I think Nacchi is completely overrated, but watching her cringe and make sad faces during the Bakajo test made me want to hug her. Sayumi is one of my least favorite members of all time, but watching her cry about JunJun on one of her image DVDs almost made me cry. Morning Musume to me is what idols are. I don’t care if they are selling 5,000 copies and are forced to sing in parks. I will always be a fan of theirs, for as long as they are together. And even beyond that. I seriously can’t imagine when they break up. I will be absolutely devastated. A world without Momusu in it will shine a little less.
Ah, NEWS. My absolute favorite Johnny’s group and my introduction to all things male idol related. NEWS is of course a group I love because of their music. I think they honestly make the best music in all of JE. I haven’t heard an A-side, B-side, or album song I have absolutely hated. Yes, they are songs I’m not into that much like Sakura Girl or Stardust. But you can bet that when I’m in the mood for it I blast those songs. There are even songs I hated but now I absolutely love. I used to pretty much hate Gan Gan Ganbatte. When I first heard it in a concert I thought, “What in the world is this excuse for a song.” But when I rewatched the concert I thought the song was extremely catchy. The exact same thing happened with Beach Angel. I absolutely hated the random beach theme, but now it’s one of my favorite songs. And when I first heard Alibi, I got about 40 seconds in before I skipped the song. But once I actually listened to it I discovered how amazing it really is. The whole reason I’m into NEWS in the first place is because when I heard their songs they immediately reminded me of Morning Musume. NEWS is the upbeat, positive, and happy group within JE. Pretty much all of their songs are upbeat, positive, and happy. Which is exactly why I love NEWS so much. Even their songs that are about being lonely or sad still have unexpectedly cute lyrics. NEWS is just a perfect idol group in my eyes. Always extremely happy and super positive. They are Johnny’s to me. And going through their recent drama of losing 2 members devastated me. Absolutely devastated me. The perfect Johnny’s group in my eyes was being destroyed and I couldn’t bare it, I still can’t. But NEWS is still around, so of course I’m going to full-heartedly supprt them. No matter how painful it is at first. It’s just going to be weird having people ask me who my favorite NEWS member is. And I honestly don’t know how to answer, because I’m not 100% sure who it would be. Ryo was my favorite. I focused 100% on him, made sure I remembered everything about him. And as silly as it sounds being a Ryo fan, to me, said a lot about me and pretty much defined me as a NEWS fan. I suppose now Shige or Kei-chan is my favorite. They were always tied for second place anyway. I’m getting a little off topic now. I also love everything about each member. I think they are entertaining. Despite people saying how boring they are. I am always entertained by NEWS. They always made me laugh and always made me smile. Tegoshi doing his horrible impressions and skits. Massu being his overly cute glutinous self. Ryo being the loveable jerk. Kei-chan being the airhead. Shige being easily controlled and easy target for jabs, and making it funny instead of serious. Yamapi not really saying much but still remaining incredibly sweet. Concert documentaries are still my absolute favorite thing to watch. They are always hilarious, and you really got to see how close NEWS is as a group. I must admit the Live Live Live documentary, their last concert as NEWS, wasn’t really that good. And I remember being absolutely disappointed that it didn’t have the fun flare of past concert documentaries. Perhaps I should have seen the withdraws coming then?
Avex idol group AAA is going to release their 30th single, Chare & Go, on November 16th. A full radio rip for the song was released a few days ago.
I am completely surrprised by this song. When the song first started I didn’t like it at all. It’s far too slow paced and the music reminds of Christmas music for some reason. It is sung beautifully however. Especially Nishi’s parts. But than, for absolutely no reason at all, the style of music pulls a 180. And the song is the heavy electronic music we are used to. And I actually prefer AAA to make. And once that happens I’m actually starting to really love the feel of the song. But just as quickly as it started the music pulls a 360, and we’re back to the same style from the beginning, but with a little bit of dance music thrown in. And that happens about 3 or 4 times throughout the song. But apparently that was weird and confusing enough, because AAA then incoporates 2 other different music styles. During Mitsuhiro’s rap they music slows down completely until it’s just a few beats. Which is actually kind of cool because they do things like that in America music all the time. The song then follows that beat and it changes to slow piano music for Misaki’s and Chiaki’s solo lines. The whole song is weird from start to finish, and is a bit of a jumbled mess with 4 or 5 different sounds randomly strung through it. Saying this composer wasn’t sure what direction to go with for the song is an understatement. But you know, I love absolutely every minute of it. It’s really a song that has something for everyone. You don’t like the sound of the song so far? Don’t worry the music will change 100% in about 30 seconds. How often do you really get to say that about a song? I wasn’t sold on the song at all, until about a minute passed and the music changed. And suddenly I was a fan.
I haven’t done the idol challenge in a few days and the reason for that is there wasn’t really anything idol releated stuff to blog about. So, I didn’t want my blog to become a spame of the 30 day idol challenge. But since there were other things to blog about today, onto the challenge.
Day 4’s question is “Which idol would be your boyfriend?”
Since I said that Ryo-chan is my favorite JE idol, this questions seems kind of obvious right? Well, actually it’s not at all. Even though I do love Ryo I don’t think he would make a good boyfriend. Ryo is a little domineering, and sightly cold. He would probably treat girls the same way. Several members of JE have said the only time he is kind is in front of girls he likes. I’m not so sure that’s true. I find it hard to believe that someone who “allegedly” kicks girls out of cabs because they won’t sleep with him, knows how to treat women. So, with Ryo-chan out of the question I had to think of someone who would actually make a good boyfriend. And within JE that’s harder than it sounds, but at the same time it became obvious.
Yuto has never come off as anything but sincere and genuine. He seems truly kind-hearted. I have never seen him act like a jerk, or arrogant, or overly confident at all ever. Which is how a good chunk of Johnny’s act. He also has this carefree, sort of child like, vibe to him. Which makes it seem like he’d be a good boyfriend. Like he’d legimately care. He also seems to have a lot of love for Hey! Say! JUMP and it seems like he has a close-knit relationship with most of them. Which is another important quality. Yuto is also very dorky and quirky. He’s never never cared about basically make a fool of himself. Like when he did Tanoshingo’s dance on Heyx3. And because of that fun and easy going personality Yuto has, it would be a nice simple relationship. I can’t imagine there being drama or even fighting really.
The second PV for Song For You,off of Fairies’s double A-side debut single, More Kiss/Song For You, has just been released.
This PV is basically a carbon copy of the More Kiss PV. Yes, they are wearing different outfits and are being filmed at a different location, but everything else is exactly the same. Where the PV is nothing but dancing. They try to change it up and dance in different places and wear 4 different outfits. But nothing can take away from the fact that they are incredibly cheap PVs, that are nothing but one giant dance shot. I have to admit, I do like the Song For You PV more than Iiked the More Kiss PV. Mostly because they are dancing in a very grand and elegant setting and the outfts are a lot better. But I’m still not impressed with the PV itself. There are ways you can take a boring dance shot PV and make it interesting. But it’s like Fairies didn’t even try. I understand they wanted to give them maximum promotion with a double A-side debut single. But if they took the budget and made one PV, they would have gone from 2 simple and boring PVs to 1 incredible one. Which honestly would have left a bigger impression on potential fans.
Oh, a chandelier. How abstract.
I completely don’t get this part, where Momoka randomly runs in.
Good, she’s just as confused as I am.
Maybe it’s because she doesn’t want to do awful robot dance moves.
Of course she now magically knows all the moves to the dance. And by the way, they are wearing the exact same shoes from the More Kiss PV!
Momoka is really pretty though.
But I hate that they make her front girl position so obvious, as she’s the only girl to wear more than one color.
Miria is really cute. They should show her more.
If Sora was prettier she would probably get more attention, because her voice is great.
To be honest, all the other girls besides Momoka and Miria are kind of lack luster. Sorry Miki, you’re not that cute. XD
Miria is so adorable. She seriously reminds me of Zukki.
Ok, maybe Kawane is a little cute too.
Gee Gee Gee Baby Baby.
Air guitar move?
Now airplane. I though this group was supposed to be known for their dance skill.
Just because you are saying kikoenai doesn’t mean you have to hold your ears.
The first episode of Kame’s drama, Youkai Ningen Bemu, has started airing. So, that means we get to hear a short preview of KAT-TUN’s new single Birth.
When I heard the preview and only Kame got a solo, I thought this was going to be one of those songs where they use a drama as an excuse for the most popular member to sing the entire song. Kind of like they did with Hey! Say! JUMP’s Hitomi no Screen. But I am actually really happy that you do get to hear the other members a lot. Even if it is through group lines. I can’t really complain because the group lines sound absolutely amazing. They are blending together and harmonizing perfectly. And if you listen extremely closely you can hear Koki a lot in the group lines. But I think that’s because right after Kame’s solo line it’s Maru and Koki singing together, then Maru, Koki, and Ueda, then when the chorus hits it’s all the members. Which is great, more Koki screen time in the PV. When I first heard the song I didn’t like it at all. I was completely disappointed that it’s a giant group song, and that it’s not rock like I was expecting. But after the 5th or 6th listen it really grew on me. While I still wish they song had a rock vibe, I do think it is extremely catchy the way it is. The song is slow paced, but the extra punch from the upbeat music, and the way they put kind of an inflection on the words during the chorus, makes the song interesting. All around I really do like the song. It’s like White with better music.
Here’s the song preview. Enjoy the shamelessly shirtless Kame during the preview for the second episode.
The full radio rip for Buono’s upcoming 13th single, Deep Mind, has just been released.
I’m gald that aftering releasing the extremely soft Natsu Dakara Buono is releasing another rock song. However, I am just not into this song. Despite it having a rock beat the music isn’t intense or powerful enough. It is still rather slow paced, and doesn’t really pick up the entire song. The singing also adds to the bland washed up feel of the song. The singing itself feels very lazy, and there are several parts where it doesn’t feel as polished as it could be. Like Miyabi’s solo right before the bridge. Which is really disappointing as Miyabi has one of my favorite voices in all of H!P, and she’s better than that. This song as doesn’t really know what style it wants to be, as towards the end of the song they switch to autotuned electronic voices briefly. Which I guess is supposed to be a nod to their mini album Partenza. Which honestly had better songs than this single. Partenza ~Let’s Go~ was a pretty weird song, but I absolutely loved it because Buono just went for it. I hate to say it but Buono’s past 2 singles (This single and Natsu Dakara.) have hardly been their best. And at this point I kinda wish they split Zassou no Uta and Juicy He@rt into 2 singles, just because both songs were great.
Wow, I never thought I’d be keeping up with this daily. I suppose that’s mostly because idol news has been pretty slow these last few days. Well, slow about the type of things I blog about anyway.
But more importantly, on to today’s question. Which is: “Which idol would be your girlfriend?”
This question was a little bit difficult for me. Since I’m not into girls, it’s hard to imagine what type of girls I’d be into if I was. So, I just picked an idol I’d enjoy being around the most.
When it comes to an idol I’d enjoy being around no one fits as perfectly as Chinami. She’s the type of person I’d have a blast with everyday no matter what we were doing. Chinami just has the super positive and energetic personality that is extremely infectious. She reminds me a bit of myself, which is why I think we’d really hit it off. Like Chinami, I am always really upbeat and constantly making jokes. I am also hardly ever sad. So, the few times that either one of us was sad I think we’d be able to feed off of each other’s positive personalities. It just seems like there would never be a dull moment with Chinami. She also seems incredibly laid back and down to Earth. There are other idols who seem like it would be a chore to be with them. But with Chinami it would just feel very light, fun, and natural.
Day 2’s question is “The Idol you hate or dislike?”
This is another extremely easy question for me. I have pretty big opinions on idols in general, so of course there are going to be idols I like more then others. But if you can believe it there are hardly any I actually don’t like. Usually there’s always a quality I can appreciate in each idol, even if they aren’t my favorites. There are only 2 idols I can think of that I actually, I’ll say dislike, as I usually get flak for saying hate. And ironically they are from Morning Musume and NEWS again. What can I say? They are my top 2 idol groups, of course my strongest opinions are going to be about them.
For any long time readers of my blog this won’t really be a huge surprise, as I’ve voiced my dislike for Sayumi several times. (And each time the Sayumi wota army has sent me hateful almost bashing comments.) But what might actually be suprising for people to find out is, I was a Sayumi when I first found out about Morning Musume. And I mean a huge fan. There are 2 types of idols I like. Idols with big personalities, and then the underdog. When I first got into Morning Musume I went out of my way to hear Sayumi and Kon Kon sing. People said they were the worst singers, and I honestly wanted to support idols that were pushing through and trying their hardest. I find that extremely admirable, inspiring, and endearing. I was drawn to Sayumi’s cute looks and cute personality, on the surface at least. But the more I got into Sayumi the more I started to realize I couldn’t stand her. Sayumi honestly has a personality that other girls despise. Which is why she always lands on the list of women’s most hated female celebrities. I cannot take her narcissistic, better than everyone else, personality. She literally said she doesn’t feel she has to listen to women who aren’t as cute as her. I’m sure that makes her a favorite among female staff. I literally wanted to slap her when I heard that. Sayumi does have a nicer side to her personality, I do admit. She has a great love for the group, she has shown that she is incredibly sweet, and she has also been down right hilarious at times. But her infamous narcissistic personality is what we usually see. And I honestly don’t want to see it even for a minute. She did magic on Haromoni@, but she tried so hard to be cute that she ruined an other wise enjoyable segment. A lot of people have also said I should see past her main personality, that it’s just an act. But then you can argue any idol personality is an act as we don’t know them personally. And I find it hard to believe that people think Sayumi isn’t truly even a smidge narcissistic. If you act a certain way for so many years, it starts to become second nature to you.
After that big spiel about Sayumi my dislike for Tegoshi should come as no surrpise. If anyone is familiar with Tegoshi they’ll know the similarities between Tegoshi and Sayumi are astonishing. They are both extremely full of themselves and they were both extremely unsure of themselves when they first joined. They even share the same group color! Tegoshi has always been the Sayumi of JE in my opinion. The only real difference is Tegoshi has the talent to back it up. He is, and has always been, the best singer in NEWS. And not even by a small margin, he completely blows everyone out of the water. But that doesn’t really give him the right to act the way he does, but it seems like that’s what fueled his arrogance. Tegoshi completely has a prince like personality. He’s conceited and kinda takes advantage of the other members at times. He has also taken small digs at Shige for being better looking and more popular. After Tegoshi first joined he secretly took extra vocal lessons, to not lose to the other members and to be noticed more. He said it was because he was thrown into NEWS and people didn’t know who he was. Which is true since he was only a Junior for 8 months before joining NEWS. However, I completely take that as another example of Tegoshi not being able to handle not being in the spotlight. He’s also said he doesn’t care if he’s someone’s least favorite member. Yet he went out of his way to ensure he has maxium fans. It just annoys me so much. Teoshi is also dubbed the ero prince because of how perverted he has come off as on TV shows. Which has nothing to do with why I dislike him. It’s just a Tegoshi fact that I find extremely hilarious, as I can’t imagine anyone being legitimately attracted to him. To me Tegoshi does not have one ounce of appeal, looks or personality wise. Whatever random blonde chick he ends up with can have him.
So, lately I’ve been reading Serenyty’s, from Happy Disco, and Mina’s, from Wota (in training), posts about the 30 day idol challenge. And I’ve enjoyed their posts so much that I wanted to join in the fun and do my own 30 day idol challenge. But it wasn’t until I read Chiima’s, from Okay! Musume Time!, posts that she suggested I do my own challenge. So, I’m going to finally break down and do it. Which shouldn’t be too hard for me since I usually blog everyday anyway. But I do tend to get lazy at times, so I can’t 100% guarantee that I will do this challenge everyday. But I am going to try to.
The original 30 day idol challlenge was nothing but questions about Hello!Project. I am a gigantic H!P fan don’t get me wrong, but I also like a bunch of other idol groups and wanted to blog about them too. So, in every question I changed the word H!P to idol. And when that didn’t work I used most of what Serenyty changed the questions too. Since we seem to follow mostly the same idol groups.
So, let’s move on to today’s question.
Day 1: Who’s your favorite Idol?
This question was so incredibly easy for me. Since becoming an idol fan there have been 2 idols that have stood out as my favorites.
Oh, my beloved Koha. I don’t really know what to say about her, I just love absolutely everything about her! She’s breath takingly gorgeous and absolutely adorable! And she’s just one of those idols that are a joy to watch. She was constantly making me laugh, and my eyes were always drawn to her. Koharu just has an outgoing, hyperactive, and explosive personality. She was just an overall fun person. She could inject fun and entertainment into just about anything she did. Whether it was losing at a game, or simply waiting for a bus. I even love Koharu’s singing voice. That’s right, I LOVE it. I love overly cute idols and overly cute idol voices. So, honestly the cuter Koha’s voice the better. My favorite Koha solo songs are Kon Nichi Pa and Love da yo Darling, so enough said there. Which is an extremely unpopular opinion among H!P fans. But I don’t even care. No one is going to bring down my Koharu love, and no one ever has! See, before every H!P fan directed their hate to Aika a lot, maybe even the majority, of hate was thrown out at my poor Koha. Just because she couldn’t sing. Which is ridiculous if you ask me. And maybe I’m a bit biased, but I honestly cannot find one fault about Koharu. She is just the perfect idol in my eyes. And we definitely lost a great Momusu member when she left. To this day I still think there’s something fishy going on behind her graduation. And all the insults wrapped in comments from other member’s during their graduation messages to her made me sick. XD
Ryo-chan is probably my favorite member in all of JE. And not just because he’s one of the best looking members in JE, which he completely is. Ryo just has a personality I find completely appealing. A lot of people tend to hate Ryo-chan because of how mean he is. But when you’re known as being a poison tounge, what do you really expect? When I first started to like NEWS people told me I shouldn’t be a fan of Ryo because of how much of a jerk his is and how he treated Ueda. But I didn’t really care. And after I watched NEWS’s fashion check where Ryo said how he hated Ueda at the end, at that moment I was sold and knew he would be my favorite member. I think Ryo is absolutely hilarious. I love that he’s blunt, honest, snarky, and not afraid to say whatever is on his mind. And I think his overall evil and “I’m too cool for JE” personality is also hilarious. Making Shige shove like 10 takoyaki (I can’t remember exactly what food it was.) in his mouth, or refusing to do some lame dance with Kanjnai8 on some TV show becase he was to cool to. And if people hate him for this, so be it. But these are all the reasons I love him. He is always entertaining. And beyond the character he puts on for TV, he is a really sweet guy. He just doesn’t show it too often. But get him in a room with Leah Dizon, It’ll come out.
A PV preview for Arashi’s upcoming new single, Meikyuu Love Song, has just been released.
After being completely disappointed by this song’s generic qualities and a repeat of Arashi’s past songs, I am actually really impressed with the PV. It has a really fun and playful aspect that we haven’t seen since their Troublemaker PV. It shows Arashi palying some life size board game, which is an awesome and unique theme. The PV also has a lot of random elements such as ridinf sationary bikes and fighting someone dressed up as a skeleton. The only real downside of this PV is the hideous hairstyles Nino and Sho are sporting. Seriously, what’s up with them? If Jun is extremely close to looking better then Nino in this PV, you know there’s a problem.
It was announced recently that Momoiro Clover Z will be releasing a new single. The single is entitled Roudou Sanka and will be released on November 23rd. This was announced a week ago, but it completely slipped my mind.
With each single Momoiro Clover Z get higher and higher on my list of favorite idol groups. Which means I am of course extremely excited for them to being releasing another single. It does look like a very fun song about having a job. The title translates to Labor Force Support Song. And I will try my best to forget that that’s exactly what NEWS’s Weeeek was about. MomoClo is wearing suits in their promo pic, so I can even see it having a similar PV.
Johnny’s new Volleyball unit, and possible official unit, Sexy Zone have finally announced the release date for their debut single. Self titled debut single is going to be released on November 16th. Now, Sexy Zone’s debut single’s release date isn’t exactly Earth shattering news, or even really blog worthy. But I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about Sexy Zone. I didn’t blog about Sexy Zone when they were first announced because of general lack of interest and the fact that it simply slipped my mind.
As many, if not all, of you know Sexy Zone has been created to sing the support song for the FIVB World Cup Volleyball 2011, like so many Johnny’s groups have done in the past. I actually don’t think they were all for the FIVB World Cup, but you get my point. And Sexy Zone is made up by 17 year old Nakajima Kento, 16 year old Kikuchi Fuma, 14 year old Sato Shori, 13 year old Matsushima So, and 11 year old Marius Yo.
So, let’s talk about them members themselves first. As I have mentioned before I do not follow Johnny’s Juniors at all. I don’t follow any angencies trainees. I don’t see the point in becoming attached to idols who may or may not have a career. I’ve gotten attached to exactly 2 trainees, and I’ve been disappointed each time. First it was with H!P Egg member Saho Akari. She was shafted from S/mileage and is now in shoved in Up Up Girls, a group that is destined to stay in obscurity. And my second disappointment was with H!P Egg member Miyamoto Karin who also was shafted from S/mileage, and wasn’t a surprise addition to Morning Musume. So, you can see why I have no interest in seriously following trainees. And because of that I’m not really all that familiar with the members of Sexy Zone. The only members I do know are Nakajima Kento and Kikuchi Fuma. You don’t even have to be a Junior fan to know who they are. As members of B.I. Shadow they are 2 of the most popular Juniors as of right now, and are constantly being shoved in your face on Shounen Club, and have even had small drama roles. But the main reason I know them is because this will be their second volleyball support song, as I’m sure most of you know. And it didn’t exactly turn out so well for them or B.I. Shadow as a whole. They were treated as merely backup singers and dancers in both NYC Boys and Nakayama Yuma w/ B.I. Shadow. Only to be tossed to the side completely for the now permanent group NYC. I can’t help but think it’s a little funny that they are releasing yet another volleyball support song. In yet another group that looks like it will fall by the wayside. And as for the other 3 members I haven’t a clue about them. Other than they are too young. Well, actually Shori and So aren’t really. In the normal Johnny’s standard they are, but in the Hey! Say! JUMP standard they aren’t. Only Marius is. 11 years old, seriously? I’m pretty sure this makes him the youngest Johnny’s to debut. But on the other hand I’m actually really excited for him, because he is also the first foreign Johnny’s member to debut. So, good for him. I still would prefer if it was Anderson Casey though. XD
Right off the bat, I was completely uninterested in this group because of their young age and their looks. But the funny thing is, if this was a female idol group I wouldn’t care how young they were. I mean, this is the age female idols debut. It’s not really the age JE groups debut though. And even if it was, I’d still want older more attractive guys to debut. This is why I am a far better female idol fan than male idol fan. Since I’m not attracted to girls I then have to find something other than looks to be a fan of them. Which is why I only like female idols with big personalities. With male idol groups it’s pretty much the opposite. I find idols that are attractive and then from there I find out who has the best personality and they become my favorite. Which is exactly what I did with Nishikido Ryo. I pretty much lucked out that he was hot and had a good personality. Which is why I don’t think I’ll ever really be a big Kis-My-Ft2 or Kanjani8 fan. And because of how shallow I am as a fan my dream Johnny’s group would probably be made up of Hashimoto Ryosuke, Anderson Casey, Tanaka Juri, and Taiga Kyomoto. And it’s these reason that I kind of hope this is just another one shot volleyball support group.
I wish I could honestly say I’ll wait until I hear their debut song before I judge them. But who am I kidding? I’m judging them already.
At the same event where S/mileage announced the fate of the sub-member they also announced their 8th single. S/mileage’s 8th single will be entitled Please Mini Skirt Post Woman and will be released on December 28th. This single will obviously also be the first single to feature the new S/mileage members.
I wasn’t expecting a new single to be announced so soon. S/mileage seem to really be rushing singles out recently. But I’m ok with that. Rushed release or not Tachiagaaru managed to be a pretty decent single. I am really looking forward to seeing the first single with the new members. To see how their voices really flow in S/mileage. You couldn’t hear them at all in Tachiagaaru. They were obviously in the chorus, but you couldn’t even tell. As a small group, S/mileage’s singles have been extremely fair lines wise. So, I’m hoping that doesn’t change. Pretty much every member is at a high enough singing level that they are able to handle a lot of lines. Even Kana, who is the worst signer out of the bunch. After hearing her sing at S/mileage’s fall concert, she actually not a terrible singer.
At yesterday’s release event for S/mileage’s recent single, Tachiagaaru, the fate of the sub-members was announced. In less than shocking turn of events, it was announced that all 4 sub-members are now officially full-fledged members.
I can’t say that I am exactly surprised. When the sub-members were first announced I didn’t doubt for a minute that all of the members would be added. I am actually really excited that S/mileage is a 7 person group now. I don’t think S/mileage would have been as fun as a trio. This whole sub-members campaign has really made me change my mind about the sub-members. Well, actually just one member in particular. Because I was always pro sub-members. My interest wained when I couldn’t help with their smile campaign. But I’m back to being 100% for them when they were announced. This whole time I was swayed into liking a member I disliked right off the bat. I went from not understanding why Kana was picked, to rooting for her to make it into S/mileage. And I have to say the foundations have been laid for me to be a fan of hers. Right now all I know about her is she seems energetic and S/mileage love her Osaka dialect. But that’s enough to make me interested.
What I’m actually most excited about is the members all wearing the same outfits now. All these different outfits have annoyed for a while.
The full PV for Mobekimasu’s first single, Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku, was finally released a few days ago.
After seeing the PV previews it was pretty obvious, what the PV was going to be like. And because of that I didn’t really expect the PV to be spectacular. Which after seeing the full PV it’s pretty obvious to see that the PV isn’t. However, I am not disappointed in the least by it. And the reason for that is, is because this PV is set up the same way that the H!P All Stars’ All For One And One For All PV. I’m pretty sure that H!P fans are crying that this will never compare to H!P All Stars. But I guess those fans don’t understand that both PVs are almost exactly the same. The only real difference between the 2 is All For One And One For All had an actualy set, and this PV doesn’t. But let’s not act like the H!P All Stars set was incredible, because it wasn’t. It was a giant globe and a few hanging white lights. And the close-ups weren’t much better as they hung a few inflatable globes over head and called it a day. Which was as equally cheap as Mobekimasu’s PV. Another difference you would notice righ off the bat is lighting. The All For One And One For All has extremely bright lights giving it a more cheerful and happy theme. While the Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku goes for dimer lighting giving it a more mature theme. Which I do admit does make it look a bit more washed up compared to the All For One And One For All PV. But at the same time it shows how H!P has evolved over the years. But pretty much every other aspect of this PV is exactly the same. Both PVs are pretty much just dance shots. With a few group close-ups thrown in. The Mobekimasu PV even mimicks the shots where they show each members name. However, the Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku doesn’t actually show the members name. I do like this PV for keeping the spirit of All For One And One For All PV. I do think the H!P All Stars did have a better PV, but only because they has actual sets, regardless of how cheaply made they were. If Mobekimasu added anything to their set their PV would probably be better than the H!P All Stars PV. Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku is actually better made than All For One And One For All, because they have 2 different outfits and actual close-ups of the girls. There is honestly not really a difference between Mobekimasu and H!P All Stars. And if you don’t like the PV, I really question if you ever really like H!P. This PV is set up exactly like one of their, in my opinion, most well known PVs. I can understand wanting the PV to be a littler brighter, because that’s the biggest draw back to me, but other than that it’s the exact same. But Mobekimasu on the old H!P All Stars set and there’s absolutely no difference between the 2 PVs. Things are done slightly differently then before, but overall it’s the same PV.
Hate the set.
It’s too Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game.
It’s nothing but dancing where have I seen that before? By the way I hate that Riho is in the absolute center of the dance. It’s way too soon for her.
Oh right, that’s exactly how All For One And One For All is.
The dance is a little weird, but I actually like it.
They also sing in front of the entire group of girls, in a line waiting to step in fron when it’s their line.
Which is pretty much what half of the All For One And One For All PV was like.
Which is a cool effect they also did in the Hey Mirai PV. XD
Airi is super cute, but I feel like there’s too much Riho already.
Oh how I miss Miya’s long hair.
Cute. This has always been one of my favorite idol moves.
Ok, maybe the entire dance isn’t great.
What’s with the Swan Lake move? Lol.
Risa looks great here. I prefer her with lighter hair.
Risako looks gorgeous! *O*
I don’t get why they are looking up. Is the sky falling?
This nai move is cute though.
Here’s the equivalent of the name scenes from All For One And One For All.
Seriously, just slap her name there. It’s the same thing.
The shot does remind me of what they did in the Cinderella Complex PV though.
Aika! I’ve been missing her lately.
Momoko always looks cute.
Even with that weird face Maimi still looks gorgeous.
I kinda feel bad for Erina. She’s shown the least in this PV.
Saki always knows how to pose so that she’ll stand out.
Oh, Yuuka. XD
Love Maasa’s pose.
I absolutely love these outfits.
Reminds me of the All For One And One For All PV.
Why did they switch back into these outfits?
Momoko sneaking in and stealing the scene.
London Bridge is falling down!
Get it Yuuka!
Lolz at Maimi.
I spot Mizuki. But she’s the only gen girl, besides Riho, I’ve seen in the whole PV.
Love the face.
Yurina looks stunning.
Everyone is pretty much making the same face. XD
Wow, Chisa looks bad here.
I love that Zukki trolls us and doesn’t make a weird face.
ManoEri looks adorable here. Why is Risako looking down though?
A few days ago the full radio rip for Mobekimasu’s first single, Busu ni Naranai Tetsugaku, was released. And this really slipped through the cracks. I don’t know what I missed this.
After listneing to this song a few times, I am actually starting to really like it. Which is a big jump than how I felt about it after the first preview. I actually kind of hated this song. But after hearing it all the way through your really get to hear all the interesting music throughout. There’s no way to really describe it. It’s like disco, funk, and electro all rolled into one. What I really like about this song is the singing and music changed completely during the verse, bridge, and chorus. Which is really fun, and gives the song an interesting unique feel from start to finish. They only part of the song I don’t like is how extremely unfair the line distribution is. I’m pretty sure that only Reina, Risako, and Airi have solos. Which is ridiculous. They should have at least given all the leaders a line. But H!P All Stars wasn’t fair either, so I guess they were sticking with how things always were.
A high quality version of Berryz Koubou’s and C-ute’s firstcollab sinlge, Amazuppai Haru ni Sakurasaku, has finally been released. A little over a week ago the PV was released, but it was in such low quality I decided to wait to make my review.
I have to admit I have been disappointed with Berikyuu’s collab pretty much from the get go. The idea was exciting, but they did not execute it well at all. The song itself is bland, and we are also given an equally lack luster PV. The PV isn’t cheap, and it’s not that it’s boring. But I just don’t like they story that it’s portraying. The ironic thing is I’m always complaining that H!P PVs don’t have enough of a storyline, and now that they release a PV with a cleat story I still don’t like it. I guess I’m a little hard to please. But that’s because I have very distinct tastes. I do give Berikyuu and absolute A for effort because there is a a crystal clear story going on. The PV follows the girls getting ready for the Japanese Cultural Festival at their school. The girls are, I’m guessing part of the choir or some sort of singing club, and the PV depicts them getting ready for their performance. They are shown picking the music, setting thing up, practicing, and their actual performance. Pretty much the whole shebang. But it also randomly shows them getting their diplomas. So, they might actually be singing at their graduation. But then why are they in kimonos. Ok, so maybe the PV itself isn’t 100% crystal clear. But it’s about 95%. I am just completely bored of school settings. They have done this theme to death in idol PVs. AKB48 alone has had about 5 or more school PVs. And unless they are going to do something unexpecting with the school setting like AKB48’s Namida Surprise PV, SKE48’s 1234 Yoroshiku PV, or even Buono’s Kiss Kiss Kiss PV, I would really care if I saw another school themed PV again. Especially ones about ones to appear to be about school festivals. An actual school festival looks amazingly fun, and I am extremely jealous the US doesn’t do things like that. However, recreating one never comes off as fun or interesting. AKB48’s Oogoe Diamond PV had a festival theme and was a little interesting. But I only really liked the parts where they were practicing their dances. All the other scenes were a little boring to be honest.
I wish I could read what that said. But it’s most likely a generic school name. If I made the PV I would have given it a clever name. XD
Of course there has to be cherry blossoms.
The outfits are horrible. Couldn’t they have given them pretty kimonos at least?
Cheap effect, but I love it. And I love that everyone but Airi and Maasa are doing peace signs. Lol.
Wow, Maimi looks gorgeous. *O*
I’m sure Yurina does too. But right here she’s forcing her smile too much. And it’s way too big and noticeably fake.
I don’t like Miaybi with short hair.
My god, Airi is so beautiful and cute at the same time!
That hair does absolutely nothing for Risako. She looks awful.
Momoko looking as adorable as ever.
Saki does look pretty here. I love her hairstyle.
Yurina! Simply gorgeous!
Chisato honestly looks a little frumpy here.
Setting things up, how interesting. XD
I love how lively Chinami looks.
Adorable. This new hair really suits Mai. She’s never looked prettier.
Oh, practicing. They really know how to make an exciting PV that just grabs you in.
This looks more like teasing then scolding.
Yurina should have been in the back, she’s just towering over everyone. Lol.
A few days ago AKB48 sub-group Not Yet released the full PV for their 3rd single Pera Pera Perao.
Just when I didn’t think the PV could get any better than the preview showed. Somehow Not Yet managed to go above and beyond my expectations, and made probably one of my favorite PVs in 2011 so far. I absolutely love everything about this PV. I love the sets, the outfits, the background dancers, the clear storyline, and the use of English throughout the PV. I love the fact that most of the PV is PV takes place in a 50’s styled diner. I’m not sure if I would have liked it as much if it was just a regular diner. But not only that the set itslef is styled beautifully, there are a lot of props in it and it is very bright and vibrant. But Not Yet doesn’t stop there, no instead they have 3 additional sets. Which aren’t as spectacular as the diner set, and actually look like they might be in front of a green screen. But how often do we really see idol PVs with 3 or 4 different sets? Hardly ever. Not Yet also wears 3 different outfits, which is another rarity in idol PVs. Usually we only get a dance scene outfits and sometimes a close-up. I honestly think only two of the outfits are cute, but you have to give them extra points for even having 3 outfits. The other aspect of the PV that I love is how clear the storyline is. The PV is supposed to follow the lyrics about a guy who wants to be able to talk better to girls, and you can see that in the PV. The PV does have scenes showing little boys be unable to get their true feelings across to the members of Not yet. The thought bubbles written in English obvious make it 100 times easier to understand. Overall I think the PV is completely solid. It’s really fun and is a joy to watch. The only part of the PV I’m not too enamored is the dance. But they make up for it by having backup dancers.
I absolutely love the set!
No, really. Look how pretty the set is.
I always love this dance move in idol dances.
The dance is a little too simple. I do love these outfits though. They are a pretty simple design, but are still cute.
Rie’s hairstyle is super cute.
This scene is cute. And lolz at Rie’s face.
Hmm, this is oddly familiar.
It’s probably because Secret’s Shy Boy video has a nearly identical scene.
I love that I can read that.
It’s no fun when I can’t. XD
Sasshi is so pretty. *O*
Adorable. But that kida looks so confused.
I can’t help being biased. Rie and Sasshi look the best in this PV.
Backup dancers makes any dance look better.
Aww poor kid. But Yuko looks gorgeous.
Yui looks as washed up as ever.
Everyone looks so awkward here. Like they don’t expect the mic stand to go down properly.
Random shot of the kids.
Yui always comes off as fake to me. But Rie looks cute, sporting another adorable hairstyle.
Lolz at Yuko.
You’re on the phone? I would have never guessed!
Meh, Yui doesn’t even look cute here.
Gorgeous! Rie manages too look flawless in all 3 outfits. It’s the like the stylist was a Rie fan. Lol.
I love that’s it’s just randomly night.
Aww, Yuko looks so sad.
But Yui looks creepy and emotionless.
The bubbles add a cute effect.
I just noticed the ceiling tiles are rainbow colored, that’s awesome. XD
The full radio rip for French Kiss’s upcoming 4th single, Saisho no Mail, has just been released. It might be the full rip but French Kiss talks over about half of the song, which honestly annoyed me to no end.
I’m not really into what I hear so far. The song is very soft and elegant. A very light and airy song. That no doubt has some heartwarming lyrics, about a first love letter or something along those lines. Which is fine, and standard idol far. But the song itself is far to slow for my taste. I’ve said it a hundred times before that I am not a big fan of slow paced songs at all. For me to actually like a slow song, it better have such beautiful lyrics that tear well up in my eyes. Somehow, I doubt this song is like that. The song is sung beautifully, but it’s just not my cup of tea.
A few days ago the PV preview for SKE48’s upcoming 7th single, Okie Dokie, was released. I don’t remember them releasing a radio rip for this song, so as far as I’m aware this is the first time us fans are hearing the song as well.
The song itself is really upbeat and happy, and definitely sounds like something SKE48 would release. However, I think a lot of their past singles were a lot stronger. All of SKE48’s past A-sides, excluding Aozora Kataomoi, have had a very similar sound. Which is this very heavy dance music, and it’s something I have honestly come to expect from SKE48. I know obviously all of their songs can’t sound exactly the same, but so far they pretty much have. So, why ruin a good thing? I don’t know about most people, SKE48’s singles are the exact sound I expect from all my idol groups. Which is why I love upbeat groups like Passpo and Momoiro Clover Z, and tend to complain when songs aren’t upbeat. Okie Dokie is pretty upbeat, however the music isn’t quite there yet. They could have pushed it a bit further. And I actually don’t like that this song is called Okie Dokie. Okie dokie isn’t really a “cool” English phrase you really want to incorporate into a song. The phrase okie dokie itself is pretty dorky and slightly childish, and whenever it’s used it’s a phrase people pretty much laugh at because of how dated its become. So, having them say Okie Dokie about 10 times makes me laugh a bit. And can I just say that when Jurina said Okie Dokie Ikuzo, it immediately reminded me of when ManoEri says Genkimono de Ikou. XD
The song might be a little average to me, but there’s one thing SKE48 always gets right and that’s the PV. SKE48 past 4 PVs have been very elaborate and over the top. They have had a lot of elements and have been extremely interesting to watch. And it’s nice to see that they seem to be keeping up the pace. The PV is actually really cheaply made. But it’s one of those PVs that are so interesting you hardly notice how low budget the PV actually is. There is so much going on in this PV. There are cheerleaders in the background, and interesting night life type of setting with neon signs, and really interesting scenes with them dancing in water in 80’s inspiried outfits. And I absolutely love the neon writing overlays on their close-up shots. So far, SKE48 seem to have hot this one out of the park. I doubt there’s much more going on in the full version of this PV, but I’m ok with that. The PV is entertaining enough how it is now.
I said I was going to do it, and I did. I was absolutely optimistic until the very end. But in the end, reality catches up to all of us. And now I have to blog about an announcement I never wanted to hear. And announcement I never wanted to admit would happen. It was announced that Yamashita Tomohisa and Nishikdo Ryo are withdrawing from NEWS, and that NEWS will now carry on as a 4 person group. Yamapi said his reason for leaving is to persue a solo career. And Ryo-chan’s reason is it has become to tiring to be part of 2 groups anymore.
Well, I was right about NEWS not breaking up. And I was right about Yamapi’s departure not spelling the end for NEWS. So why aren’t I happy? I am actually as far away from happy as you can get. Devastated is nowhere near a strong enough word to describe how I feel right now. I have such a huge attachment to NEWS that this news has caused such an intense, almost crippling, pain. After I found out I immediately started to cry. Which is one of the few advantages of being a female idol fan. I’m not sure if male fans cry over news like this. But as a fan I developed a relationship with my favorite idols. After following them for so long, and knowing almost everything about them it really feels like we’re friends. Not in the normal sense of the word, but in this odd way that is completely unique to idol fans. So, if anything happens to my favorite idol group or idol that makes it so I can no longer see them, of course I’m going to react as if this was happening to a regular friend. And the only logical responce then is to cry. And I’ve cried many times over idols. I got 10 minutes into Kon Kon’s graduation concert and started crying and have never watched it to this day for that reason. Kago Ai announced she was making a come back in the entertainment world so I cried tears of joy. Arihara Kanna left C-ute I weeped. Kusumi Koharu announced her graduation I was hit with a devistation as strong as I’m feeling now. I got half way through Koharu’s graduation concert before I cried and could no longer watch it. Didn’t even trying to watch Eri’s, LinLin’s, and JunJun’s graduation concert. Crying just seems like an automatic, uncontrolable responce.
Right now it literally feels like there is a giant gaping hole in my chest. I cried for about 20 minutes straight. Even now I am struggling to keep the tears back. And people reading this can mock that all they want. They can think it’s an overreaction all they want. But I honestly don’t care, I’m putting it all out there. People might even think there’s not a reason to cry because NEWS isn’t breaking up. But there obviously is. And I’m not going to sit here and pretend this doesn’t effect me at all, because it does. It effects me a lot. And I’m honestly crying for a number of reasons. I’m crying because I will never see Ryo-chan in NEWS again. (Believe it or not I don’t care that Yamapi is gone.) I’m crying because NEWS will never be the same again. But I’m mostly crying because NEWS as I know it no longer exists, which is the reason I cried so much over Koharu. I cried a lot over Kusumi Koharu because I loved her. She was my absolute favorite H!P person at the time, and still is. I loved everything about her. And for her to go suddenly was heartbreaking. But really the main reason I cried was because Koharu was the reason I knew what Morning Musume and Hello!Project was. The reason I found out about idols in the first place. And it was like the whole reason why I loved idols was disappearing. Which is exactly what NEWS was with Johnny’s. Before I heard of NEWS I literally didn’t know there even were male idols. No, seriously I didn’t. And when I first heard Weeeek it was like I was introduced to a world I had no idea existed. The same way that Dir en grey was my introduction to Japanese music as a whole. I don’t even want to think about what would happen if they broke up.
Right now about 40 minutes have past since I heard about this. And the news is sinking in. I’m starting to accept it now. Well, not really accept because I don’t accept it and never will. I’m pretty much just acknowledging that it happened and there’s nothing I can do about it. Because there’s not. Like I said before, us idol fans are completely helpless when it comes to things like this. I honestly don’t know what to do right now. NEWS is my favorite group, but they are becoming a shell of what they used to be. NEWS started as 9, but is now down to 4. And NEWS to me has always really just been Ryo-chan. He’s the first person I noticed. And instantly become my favorite. When I first got into NEWS people told me I shouldn’t like him because of how much of a jerk he was. I found a video of Ryo saying he hated Ueda and I literally laughed about it. And from that moment I fell in love with tsundere, poison tounged Ryo-chan. And he’s pretty much all I focused on. Yamapi is gorgeous but he’s a little boring to me. And it’s because he’s to nice and softspoken. And hardly ever makes jokes. I cannot stand Tegoshi because of how arrogant he is. Kei-chan and Shige are awesome. But they are only really entertaining together. Alone they are kind of hit or miss. And Massu I’m sort of indifferent towards him. However, together they kind of bring out the best in each other. They are always hilarious moments on TV appearances or concert DVDs.
I can’t even imagine what NEWS being 4 members will be like. Ryo and Yamapi sing a lot of lyrics. And most of those lyrics will not sound as good with someone else singing them. Do you think anyone but Ryo could pull off Code? Or listen to Kei-chan’s high note in Sayaendou comapred to Yamapi’s. It’s nowhere near as good. Shige is the worst singer in NEWS and can barely handle his own lines. NEWS needs Ryo’s deep husky voice and Yamapi’s soft pretty voice. But obviously they don’t have it anymore. When I first became a NEWS fan Fiesta became my favorite song, and it still is. Half because it’s catchy and half because Ryo-chan sings a big chunk of the song. What will Fiesta sound like now? I mean, it’s still not the same without Kusano. But without Yamapi and Ryo, I can’t imagine it.
I can understand that Ryo wanted to leave NEWS. I get it. They overworked him so much, that eventually something had to give. But Yamapi, seriously. I’m sorry if his solo activites are really about the US as well, he’s worse off then Jin. And I have to admit that I am slightly angry at Yamapi and Kanjnai8. But there’s not point in feeling that way. It’s not going to change anything.
I’m not really sure what I’m going to do now. As heartbroken as I am now, and as much as I don’t want to at this moment, I’ll most likely continue to support NEWS as I always have. And of course Yamapi’s solos stuff, and I’ll probably even give Kanjani8 another shot. Well, not another shot. I’ve actually never really cared to even listen to them beyond singles. I never bothered to watch more then a couple of their appearances. Kanjani8 is now officially the only way I get to see Ryo-chan. When he was in NEWS I didn’t have to bother with them because I could just focus on him in NEWS.
The bottom line is this isn’t really the rest of NEWS’s fault. And NEWS is still NEWS no matter what. And I actually have a lot more respect for Tegoshi and Massu now. They could have jumped ship because they have Tegomass. But sticking with NEWS basically just for the fans and KoyaShige, you can’t help but admire them for that. Even though Tegoshi is probably thrilled now. He’ll most likely be the face of NEWS now, and attention whore Tegoshi will love that.
The funny thing is just last night I watched a bunch of old NEWS clips and shows because I had faith in them returning. And I hadn’t watched some of those clips in a while. It’s funny how much can change in a day.
Here are some nostalgic NEWS videos. Well, mostly nistalgic for me.
NEWS’s Weeeek PV, the first song I ever heard by them.
My favorite NEWS song Fiesta.
Kei-chan saying they will be nothing without Yamapi. Which actually isn’t funny anymore. Skip to 8 minutes in to see that part.
I loved this game from the Shounen Club. And love Ryo-chan yelling in Osaka ben.
And my favorite NEWS wo abake.
Share, the song NEWS wrote together.
Just a sad song that kind of sums up how I feel.
And Dreams from their comeback concert. Where NEWS was so happy to be back together they cried. The fans cried too.
I am happy to announce that Janakya Mottainai is now offically a HelloStoreUSA affiliate! I am sure that everyone who reads this blog is aware of what HelloStoreUSA is. If you’re not, it’s basically an online store that allows you to purchase Hello!Project merchandise directly from Japan that ships to USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Central & South America, Asia, and Australia. And you can purchase products from HelloStoreUSA by clicking on the HelloStoreUSA banner on my side bar. (And also on the bottom of this post.)
This post is made basically to let anyone who reads my blog, and shops from HSUSA, to know that if you click on the banner from my site, and make a purchase, I get a commission in the form of a gift card to make purchases on HelloStoreUSA. I would greatly appreciate if any of my readers who happen to shop there do click on my banner and help me earn some H!P merch. Right now I am a fairly poor fan and the only H!P merch I own are gifts and things I have won online. So, I’d love to expand my collection.
So, yeah if anyone who feels like clicking on my banner can do so if they want. However, I don’t want any of my readers to feel like they have to make purchases through my blog. And I apologize if it seems like I am begging people to do so. m(__)m
It was just announced that Watarirouka Hashiritai7 will be announcing their 9th single. The single is still untitled but will be released on November 30th.
A lot of fans seem to have a problem with it being yet another Watarirouka Hashiritai7 single. And I tend to agree with that. I thought they were only supposed to be 7 for Valentine Kiss. I guess they are officially Watarirouka Hashiritai7 from now on. Which doesn’t really bother me. It’s not like Mika or Misaki get that many lines anyway. As always I am completely excited for this release. Especially since Hetappi Wink was awesome. Well, the song was ok, but the PV was amazing.

AKB48 sub-group Not Yet announced they are releasing their 3rd single. The single is entitled Pera Pera Perao and will be released on November 16th. A short PV preview for the single has also been released.
The preview is only about 50 seconds long so it’s hard to really get a feel for the song, since we only hear the chorus. But when I can hear of it sounds absolutely adorable. What is so interesting about Not Yet is each single their sound completely changes. The single is a the typical type of idol songs that I absolutely love. Yeah, it’s a tad generic but it’s fun and upbeat, and that’s all that really matters. Because of the way they preview is we only get to see 20 seconds of the PV. The PV has a restaurant/waitress theme, and features the girls in a 50’s styled dinner wearing adorable waitress uniforms. What I like about the PV is that the set is very vibrant and interesting. The PV also shows Not Yet standing next to little boys, which is apparently supposed to be following the lyrics of the song. But since I can’t understand them, that meaning is lost on me. XD Another interesting aspect of this is that they have random backup dancers in the PV. Which isn’t really something that AKB48 or their sub-groups really do. I think it adds a nice element to the PV and makes them standout more as a sub-group.

The full radio rip for Arashi’s upcoming single, Meikyuu Love Song, was released a few days ago. The rip is only about half the song, but it’s much more than we’ve heard before.
The more I listen to this song the more it reminds me of Love Rainbow. A lot of the music is nearly identical. I mean, play the 2 choruses back to back, you’ll hardly be able to tell the difference. The song itself is the same generic Arashi fare they’ve been releasing lately. Which is really sad, because they are better then is. The lyrics are pretty much the same as always. That no matter how far apart we are, or lost yout are, we’ll always be connected. Which is completely boring and stale. The only thing I do like about this song is that everyone gets a solo line. But if that’s the best part of a song, there’s a problem there.
