SUPER GiRLS will be releasing their 3rd album Celebration February 20th. And true to form a few days ago they released a PV for the title track.
I have to say, I am just really disappointed with this PV. It’s really a strange feeling. So far I’ve never not liking anything that SUPER GiRLS released. I usually cannot get enough of them. But this time both the song and PV are equally bland.
And that’s probably because they are trying for a more mature look and sound with this song. Which is fine, I actually kind of expected it since Akai Jounetsu had a more mature feel. But what was so great about Akai Jounetsu that it was mature while still remaining catchy. It was a touch more serious from their previous singles, but it still retained some of the fun and energetic SUPER GiRLS spirit. However, Celebration is a complete 180 from their usual sound, and honestly I was caught off guard. I wasn’t expecting something like this from them at all. The song sound just so boring and forgetful. It completely lacks personality.
The PV seems to focus mostly on dancing, which right there makes it boring. But not only is it just dancing they are dancing on a giant block, which is something that’s been done a few times in idol PVs before. For instance: Berryz Koubou’s Piriri to Yukou or AAA’s No Cry No More. But the fact that they are not only dancing on a giant square and wearing all white outfits, immediately makes me think of C-ute’s Everyday Zekkouchou. It’s just been done before and therefore feels very stale to me. However, they do make up for it a bit by being styled beautifully. Per usual, the girls look gorgeous. But not only that they look super mature. I mean, Hikaru cut her hair and I almost couldn’t even recognize her. And Ami, look at Ami! She’s seriously grown so much.
I also don’t really like the close-up shots so much. First off, they are just a red curtain. How boring. It’s uncreative backdrops like that I expect from H!P, not SUPER GiRLS. And Secondly, where are the adorable close-ups with 2-3 girls. You know where they do the same posing in unison. They’ve done those in pretty much every PV. It’s little things like that that make SUPER GiRLS unique.
The only parts of the PV I did enjoy are the present wrapping scenes. I think it’s cute that they’re playing off the title. It’s in these scenes you see the girls acting more natural and just adorable. Sadly these scenes only make up about 50 seconds of the PV. And when the video is nearly 6 minutes long, that’s nowhere near long enough.
These presents are actually wrapped beautifully. XD
Whoa what kind of filter are they using, cause that grass looks yellow.
Just wow Ami.
These outfits are really pretty.
Aya has some really nice legs.
Hikaru, you look like a completely different person.
Saori looks really fresh and pretty here.
Rina looks so mature!
Ami just continues to always look flawless.
Rikataso looks super cute.
So so cute.
I love that they’re continuing the tradition of Mirei wearing some sort of hat.
Still think that Reira is one of prettiest members.
Kaede is judging Rino so hard.
Too cute for words.
This dance is a little too simple.
Ami needs to stop being so perfect.
And now they’re playing piano for no reason.
Look at Ruka being all gorgeous by herself.
Such cute scenes in this PV.
Lolz at Mirei pouting.
I absolutely love that it turned into a giant present. Such a cool effect.
A few days ago the radio preview for Fairies song Tweet Dream, off their upcoming doublr A-side 4th single, has been released.
I can honestly say that I wasn’t expecting the song to sound the way it does at all. I’ve grown accustomed to Fairies mature sound. It’s actually what drew me to them in the first place. That they were so different than other idol groups. Tweet Dream is actually too cute of a song and the complete opposite of what I expect from them. I do realize that this isn’t their first time releasing this type of song. But Sweet Jewel was a better song and had a charm to it. Granted that charm came from the fact that is sounds a lot like Diamonds by Princess Princess.
I’m just really disappointed by this song. It’s lacking the power and emotion of their other songs. It doesn’t pack a punch at all. Most of their other songs draw me in with a catchy chorus or interesting music. They are going for this cutesy electronic sound that just does not work for them. Ironically, if practically any other group made this song I might enjoy it more. Though I’m not 100% sure about that. As I’ve said before I hate songs that don’t pick up in the chorus and stay the same level the entire song. Which is exactly what this song is doing. The music also isn’t bold enough. I love all the cute background effects because they remind me of Internet Cupid by Buono. I just wish they were used more.
Recently the short PV for SUPER GiRLS new single, 1,000,000 Smile, was uploaded to Avex’s official youtube channel.
And SUPER GiRLS once again manages to be everything that I want in a idol group. The 1,000,000 Smile PV is absolutely stunning. The lighting is just beautiful, and the PV as a whole is very light and vibrant. The whole theme of the PV are the members working in some sort of cafe. But with the amount of flowers scattered around the set it looks more like a flower shop. But I can’t really complain because the flowers are gorgeous and give the PV a nice spring feel to it. Most of the shots so far are the girls setting up the cafe. And the look amazing while doing it. Everyone has a very pretty hairstyle. Especially Ami, I’m pretty sure this is the first time she’s ever had her hair down in a PV before. And should looks incredible. As for the outfits I’m half impressed. The cafe outfits are a little boring because they look like every other random cafe outfit out there. But I absolutely adore the dance shot dresses. Does anything scream spring more than a floral pattern and peplum skirt?
A few days ago Fairies’ official youtube channel uploaded the short version of the PV for their upcoming double A-side single, Beat Generation / No More Distance.
And I gotta say, I am completely underwhelmed and unimpressed by what I’m seeing. Fairies seem to have reverted to the exact same PV format of their first single’s PVs. Were there’s basically nothing going on the PV but dancing, even close-up shots aren’t as often as they should be. After I saw the PVs for Hero and Sweet Jewel I thought that this meant Fairies’ PVs were finally going to live up to how awesome their songs are. But with Beat Generation I’m getting more of the same. I do apperciate that they tried to make the PV interesting with multiple sets and outfits. And I do like the close-up shot outfits and the giant metal flower they sing in front of in the close-up shots is kind of cool. But I’m actually not impressed with any other element of the PV itself. The old school hip hop looking outfits and the orange and yellow outfits are hideous. And I can’t stand the main outfits they wear, for the mere fact that I’m sick of them wearing jean shorts all the time! In every single single one of their singles they wear jean shorts in at least one of the PVs. Maybe they’re trying to make it their signature piece but it’s really annoying.
There is one element of this PV that I do like, and that’s the dance. Of course it’s very skillfully done per usual, but that’s not what catches my eye about it. I am completely blow away by how effortlessly they dance in heels. I do realize that they’ve been dancing in heels, but in this dance you’re just drawn to it. There’s so much spinning and fast foot work in this dance that I am just really impressed by it.
It’s really a shame that this PV isn’t really anything to write home about, because this is their best song yet.
A about a month ago the full PV for SUPER GiRLS’ title track off their 2nd album, EveryBody JUMP was released.
This PV is incredibly simple, yet I love absolutely every minute of it. I swear SUPER GiRLS keep getting better and better. They are forever flawless and forever underrated. This PV really shows off the charm of the girls. Since the song is called EveryBody JUMP the PV is pretty straightforward and mostly filled with scenes of the girls jumping. But the girls jump in just about every way imaginable. Jumping in the air, jumping over water, jumping out a window, and even jumping over the members themselves. I just find those scenes to be incredibly adorable and entertaining.
Another way the PV grabs your attention is with the close-up scenes. For the most part close-up scenes are rather boring unless they feature your favorite member or that particular member is doing something extremely adorable. But anymore SUPER GiRLS doesn’t have individual member close-ups. Instead they opt for 2-3 members in each close-up shot. Now, it’s probably done to save film. But I actually prefer that they do it like this, because I love the way the girls interact with one another. Usually their close-ups are pretty choreographed so the girls will do certain moves in unison or the girls will hug each other at the perfect moment. I can see people not liking this because you don’t see the girls true personalities shine through enough. But I think they add an additional cute and playful factor to the PV. Which is obviously always welcome.
And surprisingly I really love the dance. While the moves are still the same old same old simple idol moves, it looks like they did put a bit more effort into the dance. The dance is polished and the moves are cute. But more importantly when you watch the dance you don’t immediately think that it’s too simple. Which is the impression you get far too often with idol dances.
I also think the outfits are really adorable. Of course we have the main blue outfits. That actually kind of look like winter jackets with shorts, but they are cute nonetheless. And you gotta love that once again they are shamelessly copying Passpo’s thing of putting their group colors onto their outfits. The second outfit, which is my favorite of the two, is pretty much just a standard school uniform. Expect instead of skirts they are wearing shorts because obviously they couldn’t wear skirts if they are jumping every 5 seconds. I actually like school uniforms in idol PVs, I never get sick of them.
I love that it’s full force from the get go. And I also love that Ami is front and center.
I’m not really bothered by how simple the set is. I honestly wish more PVs were filmed outside. You can’t beat natural lighting.
So much jumping already. Lol.
I really love moves like this. They really show just how in sync the group is.
Ami is such a cutie. And I never realized how much Ruka really looks like Kashiwagi Yuki.
Jumping high five.
Cute flying move.
Adorable. Especially Rina.
Rino is so cute.
Basketball has nothing to do with anything. But of course they had Reira do it.
Love this move.
I don’t get how people can jump like that.
Probably the cutest scene in the whole PV.
All of this jumping makes me think of MomoClo.
Jumping over water is a nice effect.
Mirei sucks at lip syncing, to such an extent she accidentally stick her toungeout. Lol.
Let’s all jump out the window and die!
Do not want.
I love that Ami flaps her wings. Lol.
The moves during the dance break are amazing.
They gave Ruka the longest solo. Seems like they are going to be pushing her a lot more.
It was announced at Fairies’s Valentine’s Day event that the group will be releasing their 3rd single. The single is currently untitled, but will be released on April 4th.
I really excited to see what kind of song this will be. Fairies are one of those idol groups worth keeping an eye on. They keep trying to make different songs than all the other idol groups out there. And because of that all of their songs have consistantly different from one another. They are also at a pretty high level of song and dance, and I’m really convinced that once they get a core fanbase they’ll be releasing some really amazing singles. Sweet Jewel by far was my favorite single by them. Let’s see if this single can top it.
A few days ago Avex’s official youtube channel uploaded the short version of the PV for DiVA’s upcoming new single, Lost the Way.
DiVA, DiVA, DiVA, what in the world are you doing? I don’t even know how I’m supposed to feel about this PV. On one hand I absolutely love it. The dark set and equally dark outfits work so well because of the mature and serious nature of their songs. Those scenes also make the close-up scenes with brighter outfits and lights really pop. And overall the girls are dressed and styled perfectly. The gray outfits are grogeous and have a very futuristic and high fashion feel to them. I don’t really like their outfits in the close-up scenes because they are all wearing the same hideous semicircle looking pattern. But everyone looks gorgeous in the close-ups, everyone’s hair styles really work for them. Especially Sayaka, the girl looks amazing.
But one the other hand I hate the PV because of how the new members are treated. I understand that they are unknown girls with no affiliation to AKB48. But they are official members, and they are being treated like the sub-members of S/mileage were. Where they had practically zero lines and were glorified backup dancers. But these members are treated worse. At least with S/mileage they got to sing yeah, fu, and go, and had their own close-ups. These poor girl don’t utter a word and do not get any close-up shots. And they are wearing simple and plan outfits compared to the original members of DiVA. They are being treated just like sub-members, but they are all full time members of the group. It makes absolutely no sense. What was the point in adding them if they aren’t going to use them? I understand wanting to slowly warm up the fans to the new girls, but this is a bit excessive. Yes, you can argue that this is only 1/2 or 1/3 of the PV and we don’t know what’s going to happen. And that is true, we don’t know. But one can assume that the rest of the PV isn’t going to be much better. Unless they have the 1st gen and 2nd gen members switch places completely for the 2nd verse, I don’t see how it could get any better for the new members. I guess that’s also why DiVA is still written with a lowercase i.
It was recently announced that SUPER GiRLS member Akita Eri will be graduating from the group. Eri will graduate on February 5th after the group’s Chouzetsu Shoujo 2012 Memorial concert. Eri is graduating to focus on her studies and will be entering a university after graduating high school.
I can honestly say I didn’t see this coming at all. I actually never see any surprises coming. Whenever anything unexpected happens all of my posts start off with, “I wasn’t expecting that.” XD As naive as it sounds I really didn’t see this coming. SUPER GiRLS is a fairly new idol group I didn’t expect for a member to be leaving so soon. I guess maybe we might be seeing a 2nd generation of SUPER GiRLS following suit soon. I would love to say that I doubt that would happen, because I really doubt it will. But I also thought the same thing about Passpo and look where they are now. The one thing I can say about this is I am not really all that sad about Eri leaving. I know close to nothing about the members of SUPER GiRLS as fansubs are pretty much nowhere to be found featuring them. And since my knowledge of the group is extremely limited my favorites are based on the girls that stand out the most performing, and that’s honestly not Eri. She actually tends to fade in the background a lot. While I can’t say that I am going to miss her as an idol, I do wish her the best of luck in her studies.
It was recently annouced that AAA will be releasing their 31st single. The single is entitled Sailing and will be released on Feburary 22nd. Which seems to be an extremely popular date for idol releases for some reason. 3 singles and 2 albums are being released on that day.
I’m always really cautious when AAA releases a new single. AAA is type of idol that you can never really tell if their single is going to be a hit or a miss. They are completely a group where I have to hear the song before I’m excited for the single. I thought Charge & Go was an amazing song. It was a little bit all over the place, but that’s what I loved about it. However, I thought Lights was completely boring and far too simple. So, it’s honestly hard to tell if this single will actually be worth while. I guess I’ll just remain intrigued about a new single rather than excited.
Recently avex’s official youtube channel posted a short version for SUPER GiRLS new PV for EveryBody JUMP from their 2nd album, EveryBody JUMP.
I’ve been really neglecting SUPER GiRLS on this blog, and I do apologize about that. I honestly meant to make posts about their second album and the first PV preview for EveryBody JUMP, but it honestly slipped my mind.
I do absolutely love everything about SUPER GiRLS they are shaping up to be one of my favorite idol groups. And I know I say that a lot, but that’s because I mean it everytime I say it. Groups like SUPER GiRLS ans Passpo are surpassing some of my old favorites. I should eventually make a post about my favorite idol groups in order, but that’s another topic all together. The reason I adore SUPER GiRLS so much is because all of their music is so upbeat and full force. So ar they’ve onlt released 4 slow paced songs. And EverBody JUMP is the exact same way. This song is incredibly happy and upbeat, it’s incredible. The PV is also really adorable. It’s an idol PV down to the last T. It’s incredibly well made and looks pretty expensive. Or just a cheaply made PV done perfectly. It shows the girls wearing their group colors on their outfits yet again ala Passpo. And wearning an outfit that looks incredibly similar to an outfit thay S/mileage wore before. SUPER GiRLS don’t even try to be unique. I love that about them. There’s no shame in taking the best idol elements and making an amazing idol group. There are just so many great scenes in this PV so far. Adorable jumping, super cute close-up shots, a dance that is really great, playing basketball, mid-air high fives, and balloons. You laugh at the balloons but don’t pretend that they add an nice addition to the PV. And did I mention that my girl Ami looks absolutely flawless?
Continuing on with my 2011 countdown extravaganza I bring you part 2: Worst singles of 2011.
Unlikes last year, this actually wasn’t the hardest list to make. I already had a general idea of which songs I didn’t like as much. Mostly because I’ve been making a mental note of it all year because I knew I’d be doing this countdown. I would also like to stress that I don’t hate any of these songs. They are just not as good as some of the other idols songs releases this year, and therefore make the bottom half of songs. Of course I still do occasionally listen to them when I am in the mood, it’s just a rare occassion.
10. Momoiro Sparkling
When this song first came out I did like it. But over the months I’ve been liking it less and less. It is definitely the weakest single C-ute released this year. Overall the song is pretty bland. There aren’t any extreme high notes, there’s not a catchy chorus, and the music is just a bit too generic. And I’m afraid that the lyrics aren’t really any better. I think the nonsensical words thrown in are what makes the lyrics the most annoying for me. The song is basically about going boldly into love during the summer. Which is pretty much a summer love song standard, but there’s nothing really special about the lyrics. No heartbreaking moments or absolutely adorable moments that make you think it’s a great song. For the most part is sounds like ever other summer themed idol song.
9. My Home
Since the first time I’ve heard this song I’ve never really been a fan of it. At first it was because of how soft the song is. As I’ve said before I’m not a big fan of ballads or slow songs. The song stays pretty soft the entire song, even during the chorus it hardly picks up. And I honestly find it boring, it doesn’t really hold my interest. And once I read the translation it pretty much sealed my indifference of the song. I think the lyrics are equally boring. They basically talk about what a year of average family life is about. I mean, I guess the song is telling me to appreciate the small things in life. And that something as simple as a family is important, so I should treasure it. That’s all well and good, but I don’t have a family. (Of my own, I mean. Obviously everyone has a family.) So, the lyrics aren’t all that meaningful to me. Ask me if I like the song in about 10 years, then I’ll probably be singing a different tune.
8. Ai no Dangan
This was also a song that I liked at first. I actually liked this song, a whole lot. The music is intense and it’s sung very well. On some level I do like this song. But what ruins the song completely for me are the lyrics. As soon as I found out what the lyrics were actually about it knocked the song down a few pegs. I just think the lyrics are pretty terrible. The song is about wanting to make some one love you by shooting them with your love bullet. But being upset beause they always dodge it. The song seems a bit pathetic to me. To me it sounds like they are about trying to get someone who’s not into you to reciprocate your feelings. I mean the lyrics talk about wanting to thrown yourself at them and even though you’ve been together a lot they’re not getting the message. I don’t know, songs about being desperate aren’t really my thing.
7. Yume Tamago
I do think this song is incredibly cute and pretty much the type of songs that NYC always release. I also think the singing is pretty good. It’s nothing spectacular, but it’s still good. Well, at least Ryosuke and Yuma sound good. Chinen is in their ruinging the song with his terrible voice per usual. At the same time I think this song is also incredibly immature. There’s a fine line between childish songs and soungs for children, this song obviously crosses that line. The song is about reaching your dream which is childish, but still not really. However, the lyrics explain how to reach your dream in such a childish manner. Like it will grow in your heart, and to pick and choose your colorful dream. I can’t say it’s a song I would proudly proclaim my love for.
6. Min Min Min
I’ve always thought Min Min Min was a pretty werid song. I honestly don’t get it at all. The verses are sung in SDN48’s “sexy” voices like all their past A-sides have. But then the chorus comes on and it’s trying to be all cutesy. There’s a total disconnect there. It honestly sounds like 2 completely different songs were shoved together. And I also have no idea what the noise that cicadas make has to do with anything. Is it because cicadas are heat bugs? And SDN48 calling out Min is basically saying that SDN48 are hot or made hot when someone they like is near? It has to be something stupid like that. I also don’t like the song because the lyrics are as pathetic and desperate as Ai no Dangan. But this song is even worse. It is actually about clinging onto someone after they’ve left you. The whole song is basically not taking no for an answer after you’ve been dumped. Am I the only one who sees how clinging on is just embarrassing yourself?
I am just so disappointed with DiVA as a whole. They take some of the best singers in AKB48 and then they never give them a decent single. I guess management thinks that giving them simple songs will make people focus on their singing ability, but it honestly has the opposite effect. And I just think their talent is being wasted on mediocre songs. This song is obviously sung incredibly well. But there’s nothing really special about this song. The same exact beat is booming through the entire song, and as a whole it’s not really enough to keep my attention. The lyrics also come off a little whiny to me. As they are about literally crying over lost love. Which is an extremely sad moment. But I don’t really think the lyrics were touching enough.
4. Kaze wa Fuiteiru
This song, I don’t really know what more I can say about it. I pretty much ripped it to shreads in my blog already. And with good reason, this song is just so horribly bland and lackluster. It’s somber, and it’s sad, and I just don’t care for it. They put hardly any effort into it. Like I said before, it seems lately AKB48 has been riding their fame wave to sell singles instead of actually making great songs. They’ve gotten so big and popular that now any mediocre song they throw out will sell a million copies just becasue their fanbase is so large. Which is the type of fame Arashi is resting on. And it honestly makes both artist’s music suffer. Both groups release 1 or 2 really good singles a year, and then the rest are mediocre at best. I also don’t find the lyrics to be all that great. Since it was a song for the tsunami they really tried to make it meaningful, but I don’t think it’s quite there. It’s about picking yourself up after a disaster, but the lyrics feel empty to me.
3. Sakura no Ki ni Narou
I’m going to voice an unpopular opinion here and say I do not like this song at all, not one bit. For some strange reason, that I absolutely cannot fathom, everyone seems to really love this song. First, off I think the song is far too soft. I don’t like ballads. Not in English and certainly not in Japanese. They are just boring, and they lose my attention quite easily. The song is only a ballad to get out the deep emotion of the song, of course. But the way it’s sung has nothing to do with my dislike of the song, No, much like every other song on this list it’s all about the lyrics. It’s a sad song about graduating, taking a step further, but the eternal cherry blossom tree with always been there so you can recapture your school days. Which is perfectly fine, if the lyrics weren’t strikingly similar to the song they released last year Sakura no Shiori. Read the translation to these songs back to back and tell me they aren’t 80% the same exact song! That is just lazy writting on Aki-P’s part. All graduation songs do not have to sound the same or be completely sad. I mean look at 10nen Zakura, I love that song because of how upbeat it is and how it’s such a positive reflection of graduation. Just like Last Forever by Buono and Cherry Saku Yuuki by An Cafe are.
2. My Days For You
Oh, ManoEri why did you have to release this sad excuse for a single when I was finally starting to really get used to and like your songs? There isn’t one good aspect to this song. The music is very soft and bland and ManoEri’s voice sounds horrid. During the chorus her voice sounds so strained and squeeky because she’s hitting notes and singing in a tone that doesn’t work for her voice. She should stick to cute sounds, her voice is bearable in those. This song, however, is so forgettable that I honestly forgot it even existed until I watched H!P’s summer concerts. And of course the lyrics match the song. This is yet another song that is begging someone to love you. Granted this is done is a slightly cute way that you almost feel sorry for her. I still don’t like the overall meaning.
1. No Cry No More
And the worst song of the year goes to AAA. Just like it was obvious which songs I would pick for the best single of 2011, this was also a no brainer. But honestly, I’m not really sure why I dislike this song so much. But I just do. Maybe it’s due to the fact that Misako sings most of the song, per usual, and her voice is especially ear piercing in this song. Misako is fine in moderation, but for the most part I can’t stand her voice. And it really rubs me the wrong way in this song, and just ruins the song completely. The lyrics are a little meaningful, telling you not to cry and to face everything head on. But be that as it may, I just do not like this song.
Fairies official youtube channel has just posted PV previews for both PVs from their upcoming double A-side second single, Hero/Sweet Jewel.
First let’s start with the Hero PV preview. I’m really happy that Fairies is starting to make legit PVs and not just dance shots. I do like what I see of the PV so far. The PV is set in a school, which is pretty much one of the quintessential idol PV setting. There are some interesting scenes in the PV too. Scenes of them in the library, in front of lockers, and recording an on campus radio show. All while still having the dancing the main focus of the PV. They are even styled very beautifully. Every single outfits, even the school uniforms, are very adorable and stylish. All in all, this looks like a very promising PV.
Now, the Sweet Jewel PV preview. The Sweet Jewel PV is a complete 180 from the Hero PV, and in an incredibly good way. As I think the Sweet Jewel PV is the better of the two. To reflect how idoly the song sounds they went full on idol for the PV. The PV follows the girls around as they set up for a party. And the set is over the top with christmas lights, balloons, sweets, and other various decorations. The set is just beautiful. It’s vibrant, fun, and extremely adorable. The outfits are also amazing. I don’t really care for the pure white outfits they are wearing but the pink/red outits are absolutely adorable.
Both PVs are day and night from each other. Hero is showcasing their cooler side and Sweet Jewel is showcasing their cuter side. And they commit 100% to each theme as even the close-up shots for Hero are more laid back and the Sweet Jewel ones are cutesy idol fare. However, hands down Sweet Jewel is my favorite PV of the two. Don’t get me wrong I do like the mature image of Hero but I am a sucker for the normal cutesy idol stuff. And I am absolutely in love with the Sweet Jewel PV so far. It is shaping up to be one of my favorite idol PVs released this year.
A few weeks ago Avex’s official youtube channel released song previews for Fairies upcoming double A-side second single, Hero/Sweet Jewel.
So, let’s start off with Hero. When the song first started I completely wasn’t in it to, mostly because it sounded like they were going to start rapping. Thankfully, that didn’t happen. This song has a pretty clear R&B influence. The beat is very similar to the R&B/pop songs that were popular in the US a few years ago. I have to say it is a completely unique sound, which seems to be what Fairies is trying to do. Sound completely different than any other idol group ou there. However, the song isn’t exactly my favorite. I do like the way the song is being sung but overall I don’t like the sound. It just doesn’t really fit with their voices. Their voices aren’t mature sounding enough to pull of the song, which sounds like it needs a lot more soul in it.
Next is obviously Sweet Jewel. Right off the bat I like this song. It has the obvious idol song that I love. But the main reason I like this song so much is it sounds 80% like High King’s cover of Princess Princess’s song Diamonds. Both songs have those upbeat chimes in the beginning, and then the rest of both songs are pretty slow paced. You should seriously listen to both songs back to back, you’ll be amazed how similar they are. I mean, they even say emerald where the word diamonds should be, it’s hilarious. Even though the song sounds kinda of like a rip off I do love this song. But that’s mostly because I love High King’s version of Diamonds.
A couple of weeks ago AAA released the full PV for their recent single Charge & Go.
Much like the way that this song feel like it’s 3 different songs rolled into one, the PV has the same feel. And because of that there aren’t any scenes in the entire PV that feel like they are connected. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be excited by that or just annoyed. I think I’ll just go with dissapointed. The PV might have 4 different sets, but each set is so simple that the PV ends up feeling and looking a little bland. The beginning of the PV starts of very simple with just close-ups of the members to go along with the slow start of the song. But the backdrop they are standing in front of is this lifeless dull grey color that honestly looks like the background they set up for when you get family portraits at the mall. And then as the music picks up they switch to the dance shot scenes. Which is on an equally dark grey set in front of 3 random triangles. Which actually serve no purpose other then to add some element to the set, so it won’t seem as boring with them just dancing on a black floor. However, those triangles do randomly light up and change to rainbow colors rather quickly in the PV which does give us some much needed color. But I guess the direct couldn’t stand that the PV was bright for so long that he had to make it even more drab and boring with the next set. Which is AAA dancing under about a couple dozen stage lights. Yet another dimly light boring set. I think my favorite parts of this PV are actually the close-up shots. Even thought they are filmed in front of a collage of black and white triangles, it’s the only scene that is constantly bright throughout the entire PV. You know I gave a pretty harsh review of AAA’s last PV, Call, but I actually think Call was a lot better than Charge & Go. It might look exactly like all of their other PVs but at least it had a storyline. Which is more than you can say about Charge & Go.
The PV has just started and I’m bored all ready.
You know, Naoya almost looks cute in this PV. He looks a lot less hideous than he normaly does.
Nishi, still is so close to being fangirl worthy. If only he could fix how duckish his face looks.
I can’t stand Misako. I don’t even know anything about her, but she just seems annoying. XD
I’d love to meet someone who legit thinks Shuta is attractive. Because my god, hes not.
Chiaki is really cute and pretty. I don’t get why she’s not up front more.
What a difference hairstyle makes. Because Nishi looks 10 times better with this hair. XD
I hate how dark this set is.
I have to hand it to Naoya, he is the most entertaining during the close-up shots.
What’s up with Chiaki’s hair?
It reminds me of Sayumi’s new photobook.
I absolutely love Misako’s outfit.
I do admit, the traingles changing color is a nice effect.
Chiaki looks really pretty here. The false eyelashes really make her eyes stand out.
Check out Misako’s huge fake smile!
Why does Mitsuhiro always creepily wink?
Don’t you just love a set that’s so dark yuo can barely see their faces?
Marching never turns out to be a good dance move.
Ok, this is the soft part of the song where everyone just stops dancing.
Where’d you come from where’d you go, where’d you come from cotton eye joe.
Freshly debuted idol group Fairies have just announced that they will be releasing their second single. The single is another double A-side entitled Hero/Sweet Jewel and will be released on December 21st.
Fairies debut single was released in September, so I was not expecting them to release a new single so quickly. It seems like they are really trying to ensure that Fairies becomes a big success. However, I think it’s too much all at once. Their debut single wasn’t exactly the greatest. More Kiss was extremely catchy, but I honestly could have done without Song For You. I think they should focus on making one great song and one great PV. This second single is probably doomed to be mediocre and have as uncreative PVs as their first single. But I can’t judge the single just yet.
Avex’s new idol group ChocoLe released a preview of their upcoming debut single, Milk to Chocolate. Their debut single will be released on December 28th, and will be used as the ending theme to the anime SKET DANCE.
I really love the sound of the song so far. It’s typical idol fare, but it is catchy and cute. The girls aren’t exactly the best singers though. Their first solos in the beginning of the song are really rough. However, one of the girls sing that sings at the end of the preview, her voice is absolutely adorable. I also really love ChocoLe’s look and theme. They could do a lot with sweets and desserts. Which is completely adorable. Their outfits emind me of the outfits S/mileage wore in the Asu wa Date na no ni Imasugu Koe ga Kikitai PV. And the girls themselves are really cute. Especially Kurumi. She has these adorable chubby cheeks. And looking at their website Ramu has this really cool vibe. I gotta say I’m really liking what I see and hear. Avex has been really good lately. I don’t get why people don’t pay more attention to idol groups signed to Avex. They are really great. AAA, SUPER GiRLS, Fairies, and now ChocoLe, all have completely different sounds and looks. They have potential, the new groups of course, to really be a force in the idol world. Technically Tackey & Tsubasa and Kisumai should count too since they are signed to Avex, but obviously they belong to Johnny’s. Avex actually only made AAA and SUPER GiRLS. But that’s not really important.
A PV preview for AAA’s new single Charge & Go has just been released. It’s techically the short version of the PV. But since it’s the first peek we’re getting of the PV without it being the actual PV, it’s still a preview.
The first half of the preview is incredibly boring. It’s just a close-up of the AAA members faces singing. Which would be fine, if every didn’t looks incredible sad and emotionless at the same time. I don’t even know how that’s possible. Then it fashes the AAA dancing in front of gaint triangles. Which is equally boring. The only time the PV gets a little interesting is during the other close-up shots. It’s the first time we get a pop of color. After Call being a pretty decent PV, it seems AAA reverted back to their old ways and made a PV that looks exactly like every other PV by them.
Avex idol group AAA is going to release their 30th single, Chare & Go, on November 16th. A full radio rip for the song was released a few days ago.
I am completely surrprised by this song. When the song first started I didn’t like it at all. It’s far too slow paced and the music reminds of Christmas music for some reason. It is sung beautifully however. Especially Nishi’s parts. But than, for absolutely no reason at all, the style of music pulls a 180. And the song is the heavy electronic music we are used to. And I actually prefer AAA to make. And once that happens I’m actually starting to really love the feel of the song. But just as quickly as it started the music pulls a 360, and we’re back to the same style from the beginning, but with a little bit of dance music thrown in. And that happens about 3 or 4 times throughout the song. But apparently that was weird and confusing enough, because AAA then incoporates 2 other different music styles. During Mitsuhiro’s rap they music slows down completely until it’s just a few beats. Which is actually kind of cool because they do things like that in America music all the time. The song then follows that beat and it changes to slow piano music for Misaki’s and Chiaki’s solo lines. The whole song is weird from start to finish, and is a bit of a jumbled mess with 4 or 5 different sounds randomly strung through it. Saying this composer wasn’t sure what direction to go with for the song is an understatement. But you know, I love absolutely every minute of it. It’s really a song that has something for everyone. You don’t like the sound of the song so far? Don’t worry the music will change 100% in about 30 seconds. How often do you really get to say that about a song? I wasn’t sold on the song at all, until about a minute passed and the music changed. And suddenly I was a fan.
The second PV for Song For You,off of Fairies’s double A-side debut single, More Kiss/Song For You, has just been released.
This PV is basically a carbon copy of the More Kiss PV. Yes, they are wearing different outfits and are being filmed at a different location, but everything else is exactly the same. Where the PV is nothing but dancing. They try to change it up and dance in different places and wear 4 different outfits. But nothing can take away from the fact that they are incredibly cheap PVs, that are nothing but one giant dance shot. I have to admit, I do like the Song For You PV more than Iiked the More Kiss PV. Mostly because they are dancing in a very grand and elegant setting and the outfts are a lot better. But I’m still not impressed with the PV itself. There are ways you can take a boring dance shot PV and make it interesting. But it’s like Fairies didn’t even try. I understand they wanted to give them maximum promotion with a double A-side debut single. But if they took the budget and made one PV, they would have gone from 2 simple and boring PVs to 1 incredible one. Which honestly would have left a bigger impression on potential fans.
Oh, a chandelier. How abstract.
I completely don’t get this part, where Momoka randomly runs in.
Good, she’s just as confused as I am.
Maybe it’s because she doesn’t want to do awful robot dance moves.
Of course she now magically knows all the moves to the dance. And by the way, they are wearing the exact same shoes from the More Kiss PV!
Momoka is really pretty though.
But I hate that they make her front girl position so obvious, as she’s the only girl to wear more than one color.
Miria is really cute. They should show her more.
If Sora was prettier she would probably get more attention, because her voice is great.
To be honest, all the other girls besides Momoka and Miria are kind of lack luster. Sorry Miki, you’re not that cute. XD
Miria is so adorable. She seriously reminds me of Zukki.
Ok, maybe Kawane is a little cute too.
Gee Gee Gee Baby Baby.
Air guitar move?
Now airplane. I though this group was supposed to be known for their dance skill.
Just because you are saying kikoenai doesn’t mean you have to hold your ears.
It was announced recently that Watanabe Entertainment has created a new idol group named ChocoLe. The group is set to make their debut in December through Avex. Their debut song Milk Chocolate is going to be used as the ending them to the anime Sket Dance.
Avex seems to be busy lately with all the new idol groups signed to their label lately. I’m actually really excited that yet another idol group is making its debut. I hope they are worth following. I can’t really comment on this group beyond that, since there is so little information about them. This post is just more of a heads up to other idol fans.
Recently a PV preview was released for Fairies’s second song off their double A-side debut single, More Kiss/Song For You. The PV preview is a minute long, and is the first time us fans gets to hear the song and see the PV. Well, actually live performances of Song For You are on youtube. But I didn’t watch them.
This song is a lot different from what we heard from More Kiss. More Kiss had more of a hip hop feel, and Song For You has more of a rock feel. I do like that they are trying to release songs in different genres, but the song isn’t really that great. When I think of rock inspiried idol music I think of Buono and Passpo. And this song can’t really hold a candle to them. The music is pretty boring, and for the most part sounds exactly the same through the song. Which I absolutely can’t stand. Their are a few times were the music get interesting, like in the very beginning or right when the chorus hits. But for the most part it’s pretty blad. As for the singing, it’s also not as good as More Kiss was. The bridge and chorus actually sounds awkward. It sounds like the girls are trying to sing out of their range or something. But the verse sounds pretty good. The group parts are pretty much flawless. And we also get to hear Sora and Rikako sing for the first time. They are both good singers. They have this really nice deep tone in their voices. But Rikako is the better of the two.
The PV is pretty much just a dance shot and close-up. It’s pretty similar to the More Kiss PV. They are even styled nearly the same way they were for the More Kiss PV. The only plus about the PV is where the dance shots were filmed. It’s a pretty big setting with a mansion feel to it but it’s not a house. I actually have no idea where they shot this. All I know is the room is very beautiful and elegant.
A couple of weeks ago the debut PV for Fairies’s debut double A-side single, More Kiss/Song, was released. Which I didn’t even realize was a double A-side until about a week ago.
The PV is fairly simple, it follows the standard idol PV formula of dance shots and close-ups. And since this group is focusing on their dancing and singing abilities, the PV revolves heavily around dances. I’d say a good 3/4 of the PV is just dancing. Which is a tad boring, but I can forgive them because it is their first PV. I can aldo forgive them because they dancing is really good. All that dance experience has payed off because they at an extremely high level. They do still try to add elements that make the PV interesting to watch. The girls are wearing 4 different outfits and they show a small “behind the scenes” of filming. I say behind the scenes in quotes because obviously those scenes are stagged and aren’t actual behind the scenes shots. But they’re still interesting nonetheless. The PV also seems to focus on Momoka. Who is the clear center of Fairies since she is the only one who gets solo lines the entire song. It makes me a bit sad. I would have loved to hear and see the other girls more. But Momoka is definitely the cutest member, so I’m not as upset about it as I should be.
These van scenes in the beginning seem to fake to me.
Obviously this isn’t fake, it just seems staged. It just feels like they said “hurry lets film some random things for the beginning of the PV. I’ll go film the set, and you guys quickly go ride in the van again.”
I love their shoes.
From his angle Miria looks a bit like Zukki.
Their dancing is so sharp and seamless. I am completely impressed by it.
Momoka is definitely a stand out.
Their moves are a lot more interesting than other idol groups.
See what I mean.
Miki is probably the second cutest.
Sometimes Momoka reminds me so much or Arihara Kanna.
Miria is really pretty.
I don’t think I’m ever going to get tired of them showing Momoka so much.
So lovely. I feel like this is turning into one pic Momoka pic spam. But they seriosuly hardly ever show the other girls.
I’m also getting a soft spot for Miria.
That’s how I survied there’s no other reason! Lol. The English is correct, but it still doesn’t make sense.
By now AAA’s PV for Call has been out for over a month, and has officially become old news. But since it’s new news to me, and I really want to cover AAA more on this blog, I felt like writing up a PV review of this anyway.
After watching this PV I’m left with the same reaction as all of AAA’s recent singles. Where I’m impressed with the setting and visuals, but less than impressed with the PV itself. Honeslty to me it seems like AAA is in a funk, or management just isn’t sure what to do with AAA anymore. Lately, and to a lesser extent in general, all of AAA’s PVs have been nearly the same. Recently their PVs have followed the format of AAA is in an expensive setting, for the first minute or two they walk around, then they randomly flash to a dance shot that is exactly in the center of where AAA was walking around. They’ve actually kind of been doing that for a while now. That’s exactly what they did in the PVs for No Cry No More, Get Chu, Paradise, Music, and Daiji na Koto. They either do that or they have these PVs that are all filmed in the same place like BLOOD on FIRE, Hallelujah, or Hide and Seek. Every once in a while AAA has some interesting, fun, and weird PVs thrown in. But AAA hasn’t really been making anything interesting lately. Both music and PV wise. When are we gonna get another PV like Q, Kuchibiru Kara Romatica, Dragon Fire, or Mirage,? Despite Dream After Dream ~Kara Sameta Yume~ being extremely cheap and nothing more than a green screen, it still managed to be an interseting watch. And the song is incredible, definitely one of my favorite AAA singles. Call is definitely falling into the first catagory. I mean the PV isn’t terrible. On the contrary, the PV is semi enjoyable to watch. The PV has a good setting, and looks like it was expensive to make. AAA’s PVs always look high budget. The PV follows the members of AAA around as they go to some celebrity party in a mansion. So, there’s obviously a really beautiful mansion setting. But that mansion is the best part of the whole PV. The PV doesn’t really go above and beyond, it’s not even trying to. It’s just settling with mediocrity. I guess Avex thinks an average PV is better than a bad one. But the sad part is, AAA could probably make an intersting PV. They obviously seem to have the budget for it.
Naoya almost looks attractive here. But that’s because sunglasses are covering half his face. XD
This guy reminds me of the guy Perfume’s Laser Beam PV.
I don’t even know why. They don’t look remotely similar. It’s just the material of the mask I guess. XD
OMG Nishi’s jacket looks like a couch.
Nishi is almost good looking. He’s probably about a 5. If he didn’t have duck face he would be higher. Which is honestly the problem with Matsushita Yuya’s face too.
Random bouquet is random.
I absolutely love Mitsuhiro’s outfit.
I hate all the stupid faces he makes whenever he raps. I never see Tanaka Koki making faces like this.
That’s a hot outfit Shinjiro is wearing. And he does looks significantly better than he did a few years ago.
The way Shuta keeps swinging his head is really annoying me. XD
I think I’m the only one who’s not in love with Misako. I think Chiaki is way cuter. And I absolutely love her dress. It looks like something Betsey Johnson would make. And by the way, what’s with the paparazi in the house?
Look at that adorable smile.
AAA’s dances are always terrible.
But that’s what happens when you have to worry about the dance not being too masculine or too feminine.
You know, Chiaki is a lot cuter than I ever noticed.
For some reason this chest popping dance move make me break out laughing.
He always makes rapping look much more intense then it needs to be. XD
Nothings manlier than randomly fixing your hair.
I wish her eyelashes weren’t so thick.
I really like this set.
I didn’t know Jpop singer Ai was in this PV. XD I can’t be the only one who thinks that kinda looks like her.
The official Avex youtube channels has uploaded the full PV to SUPER GiRLS’s 3rd single, Joshiryoku Paradise. Which seems pretty fast if you ask me. I don’t remember SUPER GiRLS releasing a radio rip or PV preview for this song. And the single isn’t even being released until October 5th.
I’m not completely in love with the song. It is a little bland and kind of generic. The song only gets interesting when the chorus hits. And even that’s not really anything to write home about. But that doesn’t even matter, the song doesn’t really matter. I barely paid attention to the song. I was too busy focusing on the PV. The PV is absolutely incredible! Words can’t even describe or explain how much I love this PV. On a scale of 1-10 it’s probably a 100. This video encompases exactly what SUPER GiRLS is, and that’s a giant idol cliche. SUPER GiRLS doesn’t do, hasn’t done, anything that is remotely unique. For their first PV for Miracle ga Tommanai they wore costumes that looked extremely similar to a bunch of different costumes other idols have worn. For their first single’s PV they did the ever popular idol go to, of a school/school girl PV. For their 2nd single, and 3rd PV, they make a bikini themed PV. And finally this PV is taking elements from Momiro Clover Z. And you know what? I’m not angry about it, and it actually doesn’t bother me the slightest. Because this is a big reason why I love SUPER GiRLS. When it comes to idols I usually like all the obvious idol sounding songs and PVs. It seems that whoever is in control of SUPER GiRLS studied all the current idols and then took the best parts to make this Frankenstein’s monster type of idol group. And I couldn’t be happier about it.
But onto my actual opinions of the PV. The PV is basically the standard dance shot and close-ups. But they do throw in a little side story. A nice chunk of the PV focuses around the girls in a “super girls meeting” to decide what type of costume they are going to wear. Or at least that’s what I get out of it. During this meeting the girls are also dressed up in costumes of every guy’s fantasy. A cheerleader, a police officer, a maid, nurse, etc. Much like they did in Momoiro Clover Z’s PV for Ikuze Kaitou Shoujo. And it copies the costumes almost to a T. I think there’s only 1 or 2 outfits that Momoiro Clvoer Z didn’t wear in their PV. But despite that, I am absolutely in love with this PV. It is just cuteness overload. There is not one frame of the entire PV that isn’t absolutely sugary idol sweet. They even make an incredibly simple dance look adorable. Also, they get extra points for shoving my favorite, Ami, upfront in the dance.
I see SUPER GiRLS are continuing their plot to take over the world.
The outfits are super cute. However, they are a total rip-off.
Of Morning Musume.
Even this woah oh woah dance move is cute.
My god Ami is the cutest thing ever! And Meiri really stands out with that hat.
The soccer outfit reminds me of Go Girl ~Koi no Victory~ and Yappa Seishun. Too lazy to find the pics. But I’m sure you’re familiar with the PVs. XD
I love how Aya is trying to add sexiness to her close-up. And you know, what it’s working.
The mics during group close-ups are a good idea. They add an extra cute factor.
But it’s hardly original.
A typical gyaru.
But Nono pulls it off better.
Come on. How is skipping a dance move?
These 4 have the most entertaining close-up shots. And Reira looks so striking here.
Product placement! Because come on, even if they don’t show the lable everyone knows that’s pocky.
Reira standing out again.
Cute. Rina really has a lot of personality.
Seriosuly? A telescope move? XD
Oh the similarities!
And of course MomoClo.
I’m guessing Aya is a secretary.
Just like Kanako.
Adorable. But lol at Kaede.
But Shiori had a better maid outfit.
Ruka looks super adorable here.
Rino so adorable. *O*
Impromptu paper fight!
I’m not really sure what’s so appealing about being a miko.
But Reni was one too. So, obviously there is something.
This is kinda creepy actually. XD
This is kinda cheesy, but it fits in the PV perfectly.
Avex’s official youtube channel has uploaded a PV preview for newly formed idol group Fairies’s debut single, More Kiss.
Since I first heard the preview of More Kiss I’ve had high hopes, and even higher expectations, for this group. And I am honestly a little dissapointed by the PV so far. I know that they being marketed as an idol group with a high level of skill in dancing and singing.I will never get how that’s not the same theme that DiVA has, because it is. But I was expecting more from this PV than just dancing. In the short minute PV preview it shows Fairies dancing in 2 different places in 2 different outfits, and a very short close-up of one of the members. (Who is absolutely adorable by the way, I think she might be my favorite already.) Now that is usually pretty standard for idol groups, but like I said, I had high expectations for this group. And I really wanted something more from this PV, to grab me in completely But I suppose I shouldn’t be too critical of this PV since it was their first PV. SUPER GiRLS didn’t make a PV worth watching until their 4th PV. But SUPER GiRLS debut PV was adorable, and despite being cheap it was interesting to watch. But I think that stems from the image Fairies is trying to portray. It seems like they are trying to be a group that is at such a high level of singing and dancing you can’t believe they are idols. Which makes me think that Fairies will always release more mature idol sounds. Which is fine by me. It’s nice to have some varitey in idol groups.
A while ago I said that I that I would be blogging about AAA more since, over the years AAA has grown on me. However, that hasn’t been going as smoothly as I hoped it would. Since I made that post AAA released a digital single, and announced they would be releasing a double A-side single called Call/14U on August 31. Which I just heard about now. And because of that the first A-side already has a full PV that was released last month. So, I am completely behind. But the good news is from now on I’ll be up to date with AAA. And despite Call being old news I am going to do a PV review of it shortly.
But on the subject of actual news, the radio rip for the second A-side, I4U, has just been released.
I4U sounds pretty much like a majority of AAA songs. And because of that the song gets pretty much lost in the crowd. There’s not really anything exciting in the song to make it standout against all their past songs. Which is honestly why I get bored of AAA easily. The song is simple with extremely soft music. The only interesting part of the song is when Mitsuhiro starts rapping. His rapping is usually the highlight, in my opinion, of most of their songs. It was Mitsuhiro’s rapping that made me fall in love with Music, which is probably my favorite AAA song. I really wish I wasn’t so far behind in my AAA news, because Call completely blows I4U out of the water.
Avex idol group SUPER GIRLS, have released their PV for Max! Otome Gokoro off their 2nd single. Also since I’m pretty sure their 2nd single is a double A-side, so most likely expect another PV from this single.
I have been following SUPER GIRLS almost since their formation. But I didn’t really take notice until they announced their major debut and released their first PV for Miracle ga Tommanai. And I have to say that I like SUPER GIRLS. I like their look and overall sound. But I have to say at their best SUPER GIRLS are and always have been walking idol cliches. Fans have been complaining about and noticing their similarities to other idol groups since their first PV. And like I said in my PV review of Miracle ga Tommanai it was pretty much a carbon copy of every idol PV out there. And that seems to be what SUPER GIRLS are continuing to do. They look at whatever is popular in idol PV and copy it to get more exposure and fans. People like to say that SUPER GIRLS are mostly copying AKB48, because AKB48 whole theme is wearing school uniforms and they have bikini PVs. But honestly SUPER GIRLS takes elements from all the idol groups out there. The Ganbatte Seishun PV not only reminds me of AKB48, but their are some similarities to Buono and S/mileage PVs. Even ManoEri’s Seishun no Serenade was filmed in a school. But with the Max! Otome Gokoro PV it seems like they just had to make a PV that featured everyone’s favorite fanservice, the bikini PV. When I first watched the PV of course I was unimpressed because to me the bikini PVs are extremely flat. And not just because I’m a girl and the fanservice is wasted on me, but because I think bikini PVs are getting really old. AKB48 has done 2 now, Berryz Koubou and Morning Musume had those bikini PVs in their Allo-Hello DVDs. And I can see as a new idol group who is competing with AKB48, they felt they had to do a bikini themed PV but really they didn’t. Look at idol group Ebisu Muscats. Despite being an idol group made up of gravure and AV idols, they have yet to release a bikini PV. And when Momoiro Clover had a summer song. They didn’t wear bikinis either. They opted to make it a more playful PV. And that’s pretty much how I prefer my idols to be. Cute, fun, silly, playful, and singing extremely upbeat and happy music. Which is why I adore SUPER GIRLS. Yes, they might be every idol cliche in the book, but I like idol cliches. They turn out to be my favorite idol groups, songs, and PVs. If I wanted anything beyond regular idol fare, I obviously wouldn’t be listening to idol music in the first place.
But none of that really has anything to with the Max! Otome Gokoro PV. Reading all of that above you’d probably think I didn’t like the PV but I actually did. Because despite of it being obvious fanservice which does nothing for me, they still managed to do it in a very cute and playful way. They weren’t rubbing lotion on each other or having a pillow fight in lingerie. It was more or less and innocent PV that they just happened to be wearing bikinis in. Well, as innocent as dancing in bikinis can be received. And being a fan as idols as long as I have I realized these PVs are done mostly for fanservice. But they are also done in good fun, to be playful and tease the viewer. Which is an aspect I can appreciate. I like the playful aspect of this PV. How they also added elements of humor. I like when my idols parade around acting all idoly. Whether it’s in bikinis, or school uniforms, or hideous concert outfits.
Of course the PV has to start off showing their school uniforms.
Let the idol deja vu begin!
It wouldn’t feel quite like an idol PV without an insanely simple dance.
And the bikinis begin just a little before the minute mark. They actually really pretty though. I completely would steal snorkle girl’s and Rika’s. XD
Adorable! Ami is the cutest and definitely one of my favorites.
Kaede is really pretty. She almost looks like Saori’s twin to me.
I can totally see why Rika is on of the most popular members. However, Rino is looking really adorable too.
This is the first time Mirei actually looks pretty.
I think I’m Ami biased.
For some reason I really love this scene. XD
Look at Ruka looking all cute.
Words can’t even begin to describe how random this is.
And now there in yukatas for some reason.
Aya looks cute here.
Awkward dance move.
Not sure how this is supposed to be scary.
I think it’s actually really cute to have them pretend to film and direct.
Namie Amuro’s new single, Wild/Dr, is being released March, 18th. This is Namie’s first single of 2009. Her last release being the widely popular single 60s, 70s, 80s. Dr. is featured in a Vidal Sassoon CM while Wild is featured in a Coca Cola zero commercial. After a little over a year without Namie single, all I can say is it’s about time!
Namie seems to really be back with this single. Wild is absolutely fantastic. The music is very danceable and has a lot of techno elements to it. And is so different then anything Namie has done before. Namie sings this song with a lot of intensity and yet still manages it to be very soft and sweet at some parts. Just like most Namie songs there’s some English lyrics, but even more than usual. Close to half the song is sung in English.
The video looks like it has a futuristic theme. I guess to fit with the dance/techno like music. Which is a little cliche if you ask me. But Namie really has a demanding presence in this video. I never loose focus from her. Mostly because she looks gorgeous in it. At one pint she’s wearing this very sleek silver dress, and she just look incredible in it. The video is very powerful. And even though the dance is simple she dances with intensity. And the rocks falling behind her at one point is pretty epic.
Not really a fan of the moon set but that dress is fabulous
Maki Goto’s first single, Fly Away, is being released January 21st. But only as a digital single. The song is a collaboration wit Sweet Black. Who I’m not familiar with at all. But since Maki is the only one singing, I’m guessing he mixed the song.
The first thing I notice about the full version of the song, is the music is very reparative. The clap sounding parts actually give me a headache. But I love the Ahhh parts added into the music. They blend in really well. But overall, I’m really in love with the song. It has some hip hop elements to it, but she sings it really softly. And as usual her vocals are top notch.
The video is very sultry. Her videos always had the sex appeal to them, but this one is even more so because it’s Avex. Even the dance is sexy. It’s not noticeably, in your face sexy like Kumi’s dances. But it’s sexy in that sultry, enchantress kind of way.She starts out the video by rolling around in bed. Then she sits on the bed in nothing but a white sheet, giving off the innocent vibe. But the random mask scenes throw off the pace a bit.
Maki looks absolutely gorgeous in this video. This really is the prettiest she’s ever looked. Her new short hair gives her a more mature, confident, and sexy vibe. I think her charcoal/black jacket outfit is the best in the whole video. The sparkly dress she wear under it is really cute.
I think Koda Kumi could have some real competition for sexiest Avex artist now that Maki’s debuted.
As many of you know a few months back former Morning Musume member Maki Goto singed with Avex. Looking back on it, that was a perfect move by Maki at the perfect time. Considering what happened to Elder Club. Anyway a few days ago Maki’s Avex page was updated with a snazzy new look and a behind the scenes video which gives a preview of her new song Fly Away. http://rhythmzone.net/maki/index.html
Now I’m not a big Maki fan, and didn’t really follow her career when she was part of H!P. But I did love her songs Glass no Pumps and Sayonara Love Song. And Maki has always been a fantastic singer. In the beginning of the video, her acapella of the song sounds really pretty. But when the music starts it sounds even better. I’m really excited for this song it sounds like something I would listen to. The music itself is reason enough, it’s really awesome sounding.
There’s also new pictures of her on her official site. She looks gorgeous in them. And she looks really great with her short hair. She’s one of those people that look better with short hair. Like Ai Takahashi and Kanna Arihana look better with short hair too.
