Hey! Say! JUMP don’t go overboard enough

After waiting for what seems like an eternity, the full PV for Hey! Say! JUMP’s new single, Over, has finally been released. With only 3 days until the single is released! That’s some brilliant marketing right there. XD

Over the past 2 weeks we’ve been pretty much bombarded with PV previews, 3 in total. So, it felt like we saw a good chunk of the PV. And it turns out that we actually did see most of it, because there’s really not much going on in the PV. The PV is 6 minutes long, you’d think that they would do something exciting with the extra minute and a half. However, the entire time before the song starts is spent on the phone. I mean, I know the whole song is like a phone conversation, but the talking in the beginning was actually a little boring. What I did understand of it was, apparently Rysouke was dumped and the members are trying to cheer him up. Which actually fits perfectly with the song. But I honestly could have done with out. It’s just like when AKB48 adds like 4 minutes to their PVs to add talking and a storyline. IBut I find it  completely boring and I usually just skip it. XD
Off subject, but I understood like 90% of what they were saying, so yay for me. I understood pretty much everything except for Hikaru, the last thing Daiki said, and the last bit of what Ryutaro and Yabu said. No one cares though, so, I digress.
The rest of the PV are dance scenese and then their close up shots. Over the past few weeks I’ve gotten over the ugly dance set, and it doesn’t really botther me so much anymore. It’s not spectacular, but it could have been much worse. The close-ups are what I have a problem with. The whole PV is filmed in a school. Mostly the hallways and common area. Didn’t we just have a JE PV insanely similar to this one? Or are we supposed to forget that KAT-TUN’s White PV exists? And then the rest of the close-ups/group shots are in slow motion with random objects flying around. Which is what they did in their last PV for Arigatout ~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo. But in this PV they did do it a lot more and in a more artistic way to make the PV more interesting. But it is still completely redundant.
You would think with all this scrutiny and harsh criticism that I hate the PV, but I don’t really. But I don’t love it either. It’s somewhere more in the middle for me. The guys look super cute, they are wearing normal clothes instead of ridiculous costumes, and the overall look is 100 times better than their last PV. Yuto. Especailly since he looked super adorable. Much like any PV, there’s obvious pros and cons. This PV is probably at about a 6 for me. And is probably their 2nd best PV. However, this PV needed more

Ryosuke looks gorgeous, as usual.

Has anyone else noticed that Daiki has been getting extra attention lately? He’s the 2nd main focus in this PV after Ryosuke.

Hikaru’s hair is pretty unfortunate in this PV.

Ashita wa ashita no kaze yo fuke~ Yuto’s adorable and said the most adorable line of encouragement.

The face Ryosuke has to make to show that he’s being cheered up is so stupid and obviously fake.

Hot. Ryosuke looks innocent and sexy at the same time.

Can I just point out how hilarious it is that Ryosuke is wearing a hair clip? Johnny’s: making your favorite idols act effeminate since the 1960’s. XD

Yesh, head on this isn’t really a good hairstyle.

I still don’t understand the random obelisks. But whatever.

Yabu looks hot, but Keito is all derp in the background. Lolz.

I really need to stop making caps of just Ryosuke. But he looks so good in this PV.

Yuto, why so serious apathetic?

I love how Daiki is the only member to not make the same exact expression during this random epileptic montage.

Just incredible. *O* No other member is trying half as hard as Ryosuke is too look hot. I kinda wish they were.

Takaki actually looks pretty cute with this hair.

There’s just no words.

Rabbit face.

How adorable.

I don’t really like that my favorite are shoved to the back.

Random floating objects, where have I seen that before?

Oh yeah that’s right, the Arigatou PV.

Cute.

I love how Inoo is trying to look cool here. It’s not really working for him though. XD

Hot.

Adorable! This post has become so Ryosuke biased, but I don’t even care. H’es shown the most and looks the best. What do you want from me?

Of course it ends with a random Ryosuke butt shot. I mean, can you think of another way to end it? But seriously lolz.

Hey! Say! JUMP-Over PV preview

A morning show has just released a PV preview for Hey! Say! JUMP’s upcoming new single Over. The preview is extremely brief, at only 30 seconds long. And because of that there’s probably a lot more to the PV than we are seeing. At least I hope there is.

At first watch, the PV looks completely simple and boring. Most of the PV preview shows the dance scene. The dance scene takes place outside, which I’m pretty happy about. Single there last PV was completely CG, it’s nice to see them in a real setting. It shows HSJ dancing on mirrored floor in front of 4 obelisk looking statues. Which makes no sense and is a little WTF worthy, since the song has absolutely nothing to do with Egypt. Also, I hate how the dance itself is set up. I can’t stand that my beloved Yuto is shoved in the back. Yeah, he’s actaully smack dab in the middle of the dance, but he’s still in the second to last row. Which I do not like at all. I mean, I actually confused him with Keito fro a second. That’s how bad his placement is. While I’m talking about the dances I have to say, I really love the outfits they are wearing. Since they are pretty much just regular clothes. But this is Johnny’s, you never know what hideous outfit they might be wearing in their PV. Just like the hideous dance outfits from their last PV for Arigatou ~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~.
Toward the end of the PV they also show the members on the phone. Which was obviously going to happen in the PV, because of the lyrics. But I actually thought that that was going to be the main part of the PV. It still very well could because the PV preview shows the PV from the chrous, not the beginning.
But I don’t like how they are doing the phone scenes. They look happy and are passing the phone around. Which is a little harsh considering it’s supposed to be about ending things. Or at least the verse of the song is. The chorus is about staying together, which makes no sense. But I’m done with trying to figure out the lyrics. XD

Hey! Say! JUMP’s first single of 2011

It was announced recently that Hey! Say! JUMP will be releasing their first single of 2011. The single is titled Over and will be released on June 29th. What’s even more exciting is that Ai ING ~Aishiteru~ will be encluded as one of the B-sides. If that wasn’t exciting enough, the other B-sides will be Hey! Say! BEST’s new song Screw and Hey! Say! 7’s new song You Got More. Which marks the first time both Hey! Say! BEST and Hey! Say! 7 have their own B-side songs. We all know that Hey! Say! 7 had their own song, Kagayaki Days, featured on Hitomi no Screen, which was a little unfair if you ask me, because BEST didn’t get one.
And can I just say how nice it is to finally know what all the new songs from Hey! Say! JUMP are being used for. I’m a little sad that they aren’t for a new album, since it’s been nearly a year since their first album was released. But hopefully we’ll get a new Hey! Say! JUMP album in late 2011 or early 2012.

Hey! Say! JUMP (Actually 5/10 of JUMP) preformed this song on last weeks’s episode of Yan Yan Jump so fans get to hear a nice preview of it. Instead of all those choppy concert rips. XD
When I heard that HSJ was releasing a new single I was a little worried that I wouldn’t like the song. Their last single, Arigatou ~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~ was one of my least favorite JUMP singles, and I was a little under whelmed by Ai ING ~Aishiteru~. But after hearing Over I was pleasantly surprised. I absolutely love the song. The music has this sort of European dance music vibe to it. And reminds me of a far less intense version of Shinku. I’m a little sad that during the chorus the music doesn’t pick up at all. However, you can’t even notice that aspect because during the chorus the singing picks up signifigantly and is very powerful. I also really love the bridge of the song. That’s where a lot of nice high notes take place. What’s also surprising about this song is Hikaru raps in it and it actually doesn’t ruin the entire song. Usually when Hiakru raps it’s either insanely soft with singing over it so you can barely notice it like in Ultra Music Power. Or the lyrics are so bad that it throws the whole song off like in Score. Every once in a while Hikaru’s raps actaully enhance the song like in Ai Scream. I think Hikaru’s rapping actually compliments the song nicely. But that’s probably because he’s rapping very softly and not overdoing it. I also really love how the song is supposed to be sung like a phone call. At least that’s what I got from the lyrics and the random phone dance move they do in the begining. I also love the random speaking part in the begining. And of course I loved Ryosuke’s with you towards the end of the song. Just because I’m a sucker for Japanese accents.
The only real fault of this single is the lyrics. At first I thought the song was supposed to be about ending a relationship that’s not going well. But then the chorus basically says no matter what I’ll stand by you and support you. I don’t know, that contradiction makes me confused about the overall meaning of the song.

The performance itself was actually pretty good. The dance was a little simple and lame. But it’s not like HSJ is really known for having the best dances ever. I don’t think I’ve ever actually liked any of their dances. I think Deep Night was like the only one. Also, I wish the rest of JUMP was there just so I know who’s really getting the solo lines. But most likely these are the people getting them, since they usually are anyway. Maybe Takaki and Daiki will be thrown a line or two but that’s about it. Which is really sad. But hey, Yuto’s getting lines again so I can’t really complain.
