Last month the full radio rip for Kikka’s 4th single, Koko Kara Hajimarunda was released.
I do apologize dear readers for how old this is and for how long it took me to make this post. But luckily since the single isn’t coming out until July there hasn’t been a PV preview yet and I still have time to write about the radio rip.
The more music I hear by Kikka the more upset I get that H!P let her just float around in the Eggs for so long. Absolutely everything about Kikka is just perfect and flawless. With each release I fall more and more in love with her and her music. And this song does not disappoint at all.
Since debuting Kikka has been releasing a lot of upbeat dance music. And this song seems to be following that pattern. This song has this computerized and electronic sound which I absolutely love. They also managed to do this without adding too much effects to her voice. I think the little bit they added was just the right amount and worked perfectly. Overall the whole sound of the song is just amazing. It’s fun, it’s catchy, and it’s upbeat. And it’s sung with the same seamlessness as all of Kikka’s songs.
A few weeks ago the PV for Dream Morning Musume’s first, and apparently last, single Shining Butterfly was released.
If there was one word to describe this PV that word would be gorgeous. Just absolutely everything about this PV is beautiful. The low lighting the PV is shot in is extremely flattering. And it’s a nice contrast to the somewhat brighter lighting for the dance shot and close-up scenes. The set is also really beautiful. Even though it is just shot in a cabaret club, they really make full use of the setting. They use basically every single room of the club. The bar, the couches, the runway, and the stages are all used evenlly throughout the PV and in perfect intervals. Which is a big improvement of most of the UFA made PVs. They usually rent an entire place but end up only using very little of the set. But using every room really makes for an eye catching PV. And having a clear storyline makes the PV engaging from start to finish. Which is another thing UFA PV have been lacking lately, clear stories. In this PV in a very short amount of time they managed to paint a clear picture. Rika was feeling heartbroken over a guy. Even when he was obviously with other girls she was pathetically clinging on to him and lashing out at anyone standing in her way. But in the end her friends manage to snap her out of it and she ultimately doesn’t give the guy the time of day once her comes crawling back. They are hostesses in this PV so I’m not really sure how true their love was to begin with, but it’s a great and powerful storyline nonetheless. It shows the bonds of friendship between women. It also shows you how you shouldn’t let a man treat you however he please and you’re better off without him. Which is a pretty empowering message. Now, let’s talk about my favorite parts of the PV and my not so favorite parts, starting with the outfits. I have pretty mixed feelings between the outfits. The hostesses dresses are obviously absolutely gorgeous and the girls look incredibly stunning in them. But I absolutely despise the dresses in the dance scenes. They are poorly made and extremely cheap looking. In that aspect the PV really reminds me of Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game. Where you had one outfit that was stunning but then the other outfit you questioned why they were even used. Another part of the PV I really liked was how Yuko was used in this PV. I love that she was the owner and played an almost mother like character. It was completely fitting for the first leader of both Morning Musume and Hello!Project. The parts of the PV I didn’t like aren’t so much that I didn’t like them, it’s just that they surprised me. First off, I don’t get why Rika is the start of the PV. And not because I don’t like Rika, I actually do like Rika. She’s not my favorite but I have nothing against her, it’s just surprising she’s the star of the PV when it’s pretty obvious that Nacchi is the most popular Morning Musume member. Maybe it’s because Rika has a more sexy image and that’s what they were going for in the PV. Another aspect of the PV that surprised me was Ai-chan. Obviosly I knew she was going to be in the PV, she was in the PV preview. But I’m finding a hard time justifying why she was even in the PV at all. She appeared for about 10 seconds in total. And I did not get what the symbolism of Ai-chan suddenly turning into Rika was supposed to even mean. I do realize that it was just a small cameo because Ai-chan has been such an important member pretty much since she first joined. But they used her in such a way that she was completely unnecessary.
Random member walking.
I think I’m one of the few Morning Musume fans who just does not care about Nacchi.
You know it’s gonna be a simple dance when they start out with a slow hip swing.
Look how prett the set is.
Horrible dance move.
Forever alone Rika.
Yuko carefully watching over. I love her role in this.
I have to admit Nacchi does look pretty cute here.
That two timer, well actually three timer. Though I would probablt choose Koharu over Rika too. And I absolutely adore Kei-chan.
Rika looks so stunning in this PV.
Yuko sees what you did there.
Check out Mari. Everyone just looks so perfect in this video.
Kaori looks so lovely. They don’t show her nearly enough.
Again, I love Yuko’s character.
And Yuko still looks amazing. Not bad for almost 40.
Tough break, Nacchi has the ugliest dress.
Huge Koha fangirl here, but she does seem a little out of place.
Of course Yossie is the one to slap her.
Slight Kaori bias, but tell me she doesn’t look stunning. And it wouldn’t be a UFA PV without using some cheap beads in the close-up shots.
They remind me of the beads from Happy Summer Wedding to be honest.
My god, just absolutely gorgeous.
And for no reason at all there’s Ai-chan.
Walking on a runway.
Suddenly I’m getting flashbacks to the Onna ga Medatte Naze Ikenai PV.
Recently the Inazuma Eleven Go anime started airing, giving us our first preview of Kithara Sayaka’s upcoming 3rd single, Hajike-Yo.
I love to poke fun at Sayaka a lot on this blog, because I’m not a huge fan of hers. And because her singles have never really left a deep inpression with me. But color me surprised, but I actually really like this song. I’m not even sure why. The music sounds just like 100 other anime ending themes. But there’s just something about this song I find so appealing. The song just has this really fun and cute feel to it. And Sayaka’s voice works really perfectly for this type of song. The odd tone in her voice blends beautifully with the music. And there are some parts of the song where her voice sound great and even adorable. The song might be mediocre at best, but it’s the first song by Sayaka I’ve actually really liked.
Recently the PV for Kikkawa Yuu’s 3rd single Konna Watashi de Yokattara was released.
I was surprised at how simple this PV was. Especially since the PV for Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ was so amazing. Even Kikkaka wa You, which looks like it had a cheaper budget, was a more interesting and creative PV. This PV is basically 4 and a half minutes of Kikka just standing there. But for some reason I can’t hate it. Maybe it’s because of my overflowing love of Kikka, but I think this PV is cute. It is painfully simple and cheap, but at the same time it is quirky and cute. And there are still a few fun elements that do liven it up, even if it’s only a little bit. Like the dance scenes for one. I don’t know who’s idea it was to triple Kikka during the dance scenes but they are brilliant. It’s such a simple effect, but it really ends up looking amazing and super fun. The multiple Kikka scenes are definitely my favorite shots in the entire PV. I honestly think the rest of the PV is completely random and has sort of a disconnect from the rest of the PV. For the first half of the PV Kikka is dancing in all white during the night in what looks like the top floor of this building. But then the rest of the PV is Kikka dancing in very bright clothing in the parking lot of some building during the day, with really gorgeous natural lighting. I don’t really get what that has to do with anything. I’m having trouble connecting the scenes to each other. And if that wasn’t random enough you also have Kikka playing with puppets thoughout the PV for no apart reason. But I do admit I love those scenes because the entire time Kikka just has this super serious face on. It’s pretty hilarious.
These flashing of different facial expression scenes are cute.
But I can’t stop thinking of ManoEri’s More Friends cover.
Kikka looks really pretty.
I just love Kikka so much, look how cute she is.
She has one of the most natural idol smiles I’ve ever seen.
Three Kikkas, love it.
I’m not a big fan of this cat paw move.
Or this OMG move.
So, she magically teleports here. Of course she does.
You don’t see enough frogs in top hats in idol PVs.
Cute jump. Too bad you only see it for about half a second. Literally, you blink and you miss it.
The dance could be a lot better. This is pretty much the most intense move in the entire dance.
Just because I haven’t said it yet, I love those boots.
It was recently announced that Kitahara Sayaka will be releasing her 3rd single. The single is entitled Hajike-Yo and will be released on February 8th. The song will also be used as the ending theme for the Inazuma Eleven Go anime, as well as being the theme for the Inazuma Eleven 3DS game.
Speaking about things I’m not excited for. I do admit that Sayaka’s songs are a tiny biy catchy and her last PV was actually really beautiful. I just can’t seem to get excited for her music. Perhaps I will be when she learns how to sing and starts releasing better music. Until then I’ll continue to sit here hoping for the best while expecting the worst. I think at best we’ll get a fun PV. Which makes no sense because Berryz Koubou’s Inazuma Eleven singles were amazing.
It was announced that Kikkawa Yuu will be releasing her first full length album. The album is entiled One For You and will be released January 18th.
Now, this is an announcement I’ve been waiting for. I didn’t really expect Kikka to be releasing her first album so soon. She only just debuted in May. But who cares how soon it is really? I cannot wait to hear the album. I absolutely adore Kikka, she’s been releasing some of the best and most interesting songs. I think she could really be a force in the idol industry if she was promoted better. She’s certainly overflowing with talent. Normally I would say I hope this album has more energetic songs or something along the lines of Konna Watashi de Yokattara. But Kikka sounds so amazing in slow paced songs that I wouldn’t mind a few of those in this album.
A few days ago a PV preview for Dream Morning Musume’s first single, Shining Butterfly, was released. Giving us fans the first peek at both the song and PV.
I have to say I am really impressed with Shining Butterfly all around. The song is a lot better than I expected it to be. The song is very pretty and mature while still being catchy. And the distribution seems to be pretty fair so far. In the short 50 second clip we heard solos from Miki, Mari, Nacchi, Kaori, and Yuko. Granted they are the most popular members. But there’s still a good chance that the rest of the song will be fair. The PV looks absolutely amazing, it seems like they really spend a lot of money on it. The story seems to follow around Rika. What we’ve seen so far shows Rika being upset that Kei-chan and Koharu are with some random guy. I’m guessing he’s either or boyfriend or someone she likes. But honestly it kinda seems like he’s probably her client. Am I the only one who thinks that Dream Morning Musume are supposed to be hostesses in this PV? It explains thr bar/restaurant setting, the fact that the guy is nonchalant walking in with two girls, and obviously because of the way they are dressed. They look gorgeous don’t get me wrong, but they are dressed like hostesses. There’s not really anything wrong with that theme, it would actually probably make for a really fun PV. I’m just kina pointing it out. The only thing I don’t really like about this PV are the outfits for the dance shot. They are completely hideous and poorly made. And they also look like a forgettable concert outfit. Of course I also have to mention one of the most exciting parts of the PV, and that is that Ai-chan is featured in the PV. It’s pretty exciting to see Ai-chan so soon after her graduation. However, I don’t really think this has anything to do with her joining Dream Morning Musume, since her goal is to be on Broadway. I don’t honestly think anyone else will join Dream Morning Musume. Actually Tsuji Nozomi might when she feels she’s ready for it, but I don’t think Goto Maki will. I never really got why fans think she will. Going on stage to support your old groupmates doesn’t mean anything. I suppose it’s still in the realm of posibility, but I still think it’s highly unlikely.
Now, I am bringing you my conclusion to my 2011 ranking, countdown extravaganza: Best Album songs of 2011.
This was the hardest list to write, there have been so many good album songs released this year. This list alone to be roughly 3 hours just to rank. I relistened to every album released in 2011 and wrote down every song that I liked. At that point I was at 26, and I then had to relisten to each song and painstakingly narrow it down even further. While some songs were more obvious then others, it was overall a pretty difficult task.
I actually wanted to add a part 4 this year: Best PVs of 2011. But these posts took way longer than I anticipated already, so I was completely uninspired to write it. But there’s always next year I suppose.
10. Renai Circus
AKB48’s first original album was pretty dismal at best. Renai Circus is pretty much one of the only decent songs on the entire album. But even this song isn’t all that spectacular, which is why it’s so low. I think the best way to desribe this song is adorable, but I’d expect nothing less from Team B. The music is pretty upbeat and silly, I do wish they incorporated more of a circus element into though. My absolute favorite part of the song is the chorus that’s when the song really picks up and is super cute. I also really love all the background speaking in noises throughout the song, it just adds the unseriousness of the song. The lyrics are also pretty cute. For the most part it’s just describing what a circus is, but I still think love and a circus is a cute comparison. Though I do think the trapeze parts describe love better. The song is just fun, and silly the type of song that I like.
9. Santa Maria
Yamapi’s solo album is another album I wasn’t really all that impressed with. His voice just does not fit with club music. So, I can just imagine how bad his solo career is going to be. But that’s off topic. But when I listened to this album this song just immediately stuck out to me. It’s probably one of the most meaningful songs on the entire album. It’s basically Yamapi losing, or about to lose, his girlfriend, and then begging Santa Maria to bring her back because he can’t bare to be without her. I think the song is incredibly sad and heartbreaking. And I’ll admit the reason I do like this song so much is because the lyrics remind me of Last Kiss by J Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers. But the lyrics still are good. The club music does kind of ruin the song a bit. It’s basically like saying, “I’m so sad that I feel like dying, but you know I could still dance.”
8. Icchoume Rock
I really love this song, I think it’s definitely the best song from the album. But that’s not really saying much as I consider 7 Berryz Times to be one of their weakest albums. But Icchoume Rock is really fun, and upbeat. It’s got a subtle rock beat and is extremely easy to dance to. The super positive message of the song is another reason why I like it. It’s basically a song about being and happy, and to just jumpi into things instead of waiting. I like idol songs like that, songs that just instantly cheer you up.
7. Tooku Made
Arashi’s Beautiful World album had a very a dance/electronic theme to it, I thought it just completely worked for them. As, a whole the entire album was great so it was super difficult to pick which songs were the best. But I picked Tooku Made because it has the unique Arashi sound. It’s slow paced, but at the same time it’s still upbeat. And the n the chrous hits and it’s just incredibly catchy and amazing. The song is pretty simple, but it’s simplicity is another reason I like it. It’s light, fresh, and really pretty. And since this is Arashi we get the pretty typical love lyrics. It’s about any mundane moment being significantly better because you’re with the person you love. It’s just really adorable.
6. Kakenukete Blue
I absolutely love YuiKaori because they encompass everything I love about idol music. Upbeat music and sugary sweet voices. And this song doesn’t disappoint. The music has heavy anime sounding music which is pretty much a standard with YuiKaori. The song is pretty upbeat for the whole song, but of course it really picks up during the chorus. Where you really get the full effect of their adorable voices and how well that they blend together. I just enjoy every second of this song. It is so fun and cute that I don’t even mind that I have no idea what the song is about.
5. Ok Yeah
Here comes Morning Musume delivering a hard-hitting, heart pumping dance song. This song is just perfect in every way. It is insanely upbeat and incredible to dance to. The music is amazing, and I love all the voice and sound effects. Like all the woos straight out of eurobeat. (Or Uchouten Love.) And I love when Reina’s, Risa’s, and Sayumi’s high hotes are distorted and extened with the robot effect. I think it completely works with the song. And I love the intense music break where it’s just nothing but electronic trance music for like 30 seconds. The song is about enjoying your youth and going all out chasing your dreams and life. While I am not really in my youth (Technically I am since I’m only 19, but I’m not in my high school youth, which is what they most likely mean.) But the lyrics are still good if you disregard all the youth and young girl aspects. The song then just means being confident and not living without regrets.
4. Mada minu sekai e
This song is just incredible. Which is why they made a PV for it. The music has this futuristic, electronic sound to it. And it’s not too much. It’s like the perfect balance of intense music and soft parts. I absolutely love the autotune they put on Sho’s rap parts, it’s added at the perfect part of the song and it’s done perfectly. The entire song is catchy from start to finish. I have not been able to get this song out of my head for months. They lyrics are pretty encouraging too. Basically telling you to keep going no matter how usure you are of the future.
3. Suki da na kimi ga
This song, I have been absolutely in love with this song since I first heard the radio rip. It’s just perfect. You Mainly hear Sayumi’s voice and instead of ruining it she actually enhances it. Which is a complete rarity for her. This song just completely compliments Sayumi’s and Mizuki’s voices. And Sayumi and Mizuki blend together so seamlessly it almost sounds like one voice. People have complained that you can only hear Sayumi, but that completely isn’t true. Really listen and you can hear Mizuki. She’s just taking the lower parts and is harmonizing, like what Aibon used to do in W. Songs like Juushichi no Natsu you mainly hear Nono.Off topic, I know. This song is just amazing! It’s cuteness overload. It is soft, airy, and pretty, while still have upbeat and interesting elements to the song. The lyrics are also equally cute. It’s about liking someone no matter what their falts are and still thinking they are cute. And wanting to be with them no matter what.
2. Iza, Susume! Steady go!
Iza, Susume! Steady go! has always been one of my favorite songs off of C-ute’s 6th album. But I didn’t realize just how much I loved this song until I saw them perform it live. And it is incedible! This song is nonstop energy from start to finish. The music is heavy and intesnse and the singing matches. Airi sounds just amazing in this song, you can really hear the emotion in her lines. This song is so positive, and upbeat, and fun, and just everything about it is amazing. Everyone’s singing is just so powerful. This song is just so engaging on every level from start to finish. I can’t get tired of this song or get it out of my head. The lyrics are great too. About going full force no matter what. And to always be positive and dream endlessly.
1. Wani to Shampoo
And MomoClo manages to come out on top! After I heard Battle and Romance for the first there was no doubt in my mind that Wani to Shampoo was one of the best idol songs. When I first heard it I wasn’t even thiking about my 2011 top 10 posts, I just thought it was one of the best idol songs I’d heard in a while. Momoiro Clover Z really is the most energetic idols out there. This song hits you with a powerful punch of energy as soon as the chorus hits. And you can’t help but being as over the top as the song itself is. I just can’t properly put into words how much I love this song. The intensity of the song, the energy, the singing, how danceable it is, it’s just an amazing song. If anyone ever asked me why I liked idol music this is the song I’d have them listen to. I don’t even care that this song is about forgetting to do you summer homework. It just shows that idol music is supposed to be fun, and not serious. Especially from an idol group that wears panda makeup and wears power rangers costumes in their PVs. Whenever I’m in a bad mood or just want and instant shot of energy, I play this song.
1. Berryz Koubou – Onna No Pride 2. C-ute Chou Wonderful 3. C-ute Midnight Temptation 4. Morning Musume – Silver no udedokei 5. Morning Musume – Kaiketsu positive A 6. Arashi – Morning Light 7. Arashi – Negai 8. Arashi – Always 9. Arashi – Shake It 10. Arashi – Doko ni Demo Aru Uta 11. Momoiro Clover Z – MomoClo no Nippon Manzai! 12. YuiKaori – Magic Starter 13. YuiKaori – Puppy Love 14. YuiKaori – Crystal no Chikai 15. AKB48 – High School Days 16. Yamashita Tomohisa – Kuchizuke de Adios 17. no3b – Cloudy Sky
Recently Universal Music Japan’s official youtube channel posted a PV preview for Kikka’s upcoming 3rd single, Konna Watashi de Yokattara.
I am completely surprised with how the PV looks. It looks nothing like the first PV preview showed. Which would be the second time the first preview had nothing to do with the finished PV. In this PV preview we are shown a much simpler PV. Even though I wasn’t a fan of the harsh filters the first preview showed, I do think overall it looked like a better PV. This PV has basically nothing going on. It’s just Kikka dancing in a pure white winter outfit in completely bare sets. The whole thing just reminds me of a Mano Erina PV, which is not a good thing. The plain set and outfits completely scream the Onegai Dakara dance shots. And the random faces showing Kikka making different faces immediately makes me think of ManoEri’s More Friends cover. The only time this PV gets really interesting is when the electronic music during the chorus kicks in and Kikka flashes into different locations. And I also do like the 3 Kikka’s dancing simultaneously. But all of that takes place in a span of about about 20 seconds tops. It’s pretty sad actually since I think this is Kikka’s best song to date. Maybe even the best idol song of the year.
Sanspo has reported that Nakazawa Yuko is getting married. Her fiance is a 38 year old CEO of an IT company who lives in Fukuoka. The couple is getting married next spring after only a short 4 months of dating.
Even though 4 months is an incredible short amount of time dating I am happy for Yuko. It’s nice to see she’s met someone who meets her high standards. And the jokes about her still being single and her complaining that she’s not married yet can finally end. I swear it feels like yesterday that Yuko was upset after losing to Tsuji. I honestly wish Yuko all the best. I do wonder how this will effect her activites in Dream Morning Musume. But the girl’s been working basically nonstop for the last 14 years, I think she deserves a break or even to retire.
It was just announced that Dream Morning Musume will be releasing their first original single. The single is titled Shining Butterfly and will be released on February 15th. This also marks the group’s 3rd original song. Or 4th if you count Afternoon Coffee, which is technically Afternoon Musume’s song because it existed before Dream Morning Musume did. Or even 5th if you count their version of Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari.
You know this seems to be a pretty unpopular opinion but I fully love Dream Morning Musume. Say what you want about it being a step backwards in their career, but I could care less honestly. I just love that I get to see my favorite OG members back in action together. And I pretty excited because I think Atto Odoroku Mirai ga Yattekuru is an amazing song. Throw another song like that my way and I would be happy.
The only thing I’m worried about is line distribution. Distribution was pretty fair in the album, but albums are always a lot more fair than A-sides. And while nearly every member of Dream Morning Musume were the top members during their stint in Morning Musume, obviously there are members who are more popular then the others. And because of that I’m afraid my favorite members are going to be shoved in the back. And on Koharu’s part it’s probably going to be because of senority then anything else. But Kaori and Kei-chan aren’t exactly super popular, at least not compared to the likes of Yuko or Nacchi. It will break my heart if they are shoved in the back.
Universal Music Japan has uploaded an short PV preview for Kikka’s upcoming 3rd single, Konna Watashi de Yokattara, on their official youtube channel.
I absolutely adore this songby Kikka. It’s literally her best song so far. However, I don’t think the PV lives up to the fun elements in the song. The PV is very similar to her last PV for Hapirapi ~Sunrise~. Both PVs were shot mainly outside, with partial indoor scenes. The PV looks incredibly simple, and it’s relying far too much on camera and editing tricks for a lack of an actual PV. So far the preview shows Kikka doing nothing but standing and walking a few feet. I supposed I’m supposed to be impressed by them randomly changing the color and adding effects to make it look like the film in dissolving. But I’m not at all. I think it’s lazy editing and that they are trying to make a boring PV more exciting. My only hope for the PV right now is that the preview Universal released for Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ was filled with scenes that are not in the actual PV. I really hope this is the case. But since this PV preview is nearly a minute long, I doubt it is.
The PV for Kitahara Sayaka’s 2nd single, Kanari Junjou, was released nearly a month go. And I do apologize for taking such a long time to review it. But I’m reviewing it now, so that’s all that matters.
I have to admit I wasn’t really expecting much from this PV. Well, I’ve never really expected much from Sayaka since her Milky Way days. But after seeing and hearing Yappari Seishun it sealed her fate with me. The girls has improved greatly in singing though, I do have to give her that. As for the Kanari Junjou PV I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I hate it, but on another and I love it. Let’s divulge into the love side first. The PV itself is absolutely stunning. The natural lighting of the PV not only makes Sayaka look gorgeous, but it also makes the sets and overall PV look exquisite. I can’t even decribe how perfect Sayaka looks in the scenes where she’s sitting in the flower garden surrounded by absolutely beautiful flowers. Overall, Sayaka looks amazing in this PV her clothes are very stylish. Now, let’s talk about what I don’t really like about this PV. And that would be that there’s not really many elements to this PV. They just seem to repeat the same 4 scenes over and over again. Sayaka sitting by flowers, her close-up shot, laying on the ground, and scenes of her just walking. As pretty as the PV is, I would love for their to be something actually happening in the PV. It seems to be one of those beauty shots PVs that focus completely on the visuals. Which is nice don’t get me wrong, but I prefer PVs with a little more of a punch.
Intense montage of flowers.
Gorgeous. Just the perfect shot for an idol PV.
Sayaka looks cute here.
I want her outfit. Especially the tie and necklace combo.
I don’t get why she’s randomly sleeping in a field.
I love this outfit too, it’s really chic.
Those shoes are amazing. Ok, I’ll stop talking about clothes now. XD
I do like that they use a distressed camera filter to make it look like this was filmed in the 60’s.
Kikka’s official website has posted a short preview of her upcoming 3rd single, Konna Watashi de Yokattara. You can listen to the song on her site by clicking here. Once her site loads the song automatically starts.
Even though the preview is extremely short, I am absolutely in love with this song! Just everything about this song is amazing. I was a bit worried that this song was going to be a ballad. But luckily this song is about as far away from a ballad as you can get. Instead it’s a techno-esque dance song. It is extremely upbeat, lively, and fun. It’s super energetic and catchy. It is seriously Kikka at her best, her voice sounds amazing per usual. This is luterally the best song Kikka has released so far. One hundred times better than Kikkake wa You or Candy Pop. Kikka seriously keeps getting better and better.
It was recently announced that UFZS will be making their debut in South Korea. Their producer DJtaba, said that UFZS has reached their first milestone in the front line as a K-pop dance cover team. And that UFZS’s next step will be to have Korean songs made by Korean artists. And he approached a Korean duo, who debuted in Japan, Tensi Love to provide them with two original songs.
Excuse me while I have a mini heart attack. I am am beyond thrilled and excited for thi news. Finally my beloved Akari will finally get to make music again, instead of just covering dances. I honestly didn’t think she’d get the chance again to release a single. I am so happy for her. I don’t even mind that she’s releasing songs in Korea and not Japan. I’m just happy she gets to release a song. So could be releasing something in Brazil and I’d be just as excited.
A lot of people are completely dooming this before it even happens. However, I am not at all. I know that UFZS has an uphill battle, and it’s going to be extremely difficult. But I think they could actually do it. Korean idols have been extremely successful in Japan. Why can’t it be the other way around as well? People will probably say that Korea is more into sexy instead of cute. Which is completely true. A lot of artsits like SNSD and Super Junior are trying to mature their sound because of it. However, it’s also only true to an extent. Listen to Orange Caramel. Their whole theme is cute. Or any recent Secret or Girl’s Day songs. Secrets’s Shy Boy and Starlight Moonlight are completely adroable. As are Girl’s Day’s Twinkle Twinkle and Hug Me Once. Both have the same cutesy sounds that Jpop has. Even T-ara’s Roly Poly was cute sounding. And I don’t see those groups failing because of it. Just last year SNSD released the very cutesy Oh. And if being cutesy was going to hurt them, then why do male Kpop fans go crazy over aegyo?
So, I wouldn’t bet on their failure so easily. And even if they do fail. At least they tried and at least they did something. Would it be better if they were simply a Kpop dance cover group forever?
It was announced recently that Kikkawa Yuu will be releasing her 3rd single. The single is entitled Konna Watashi de Yokattara, and will be released on December 28th.
As always I am completely excited for another Kikka single. Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ wasn’t exactly my favorite song ever, or even my favorite song by Kikka. I think a lot of her B-sides were stronger that Hapirapi ~Sunrise~. But I do think the PV for that song was incredible. The title also makes me think it will be a sofr ballad type song, which we haven’t hear from Kikka yet. And would actually be a welcomed surprise, despite how much I’m not a fan of ballads. Kikka is a great singer and could handle a ballad.
Recently the full PV for Kikkawa Yuu’s 2nd single, Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ was released.
I’ve already expressed before how much I love this PV based on the preview of it. But I’m not to express it again. I absolutely adore everything about this PV. It’s the kind of idol PV you hope for everytime a new PV is released. The PV is simple, but at the same time intereseting. What I mean by that is, there are so many elements in the PV that in practically every scene something interesting is happening. But the PV is so clean and simple, that even though there are a lot of things happening it doesn’t feel like it’s too much. Or they are trying to hard to make a good PV. Instead it just seems natural, and Kikka completely shines. It’s one of those PVs that are just a joy to watch. The whole PV is just refreshing and has an ethereal feel to it. Kikka looks beyond gorgeous, and lately just seems like the all around perfect idol. Well, the perfect idol to me anyway.
Kikka is so pretty.
I love this set. It’s probably the best one in the whole PV.
She probably looks the best here too.
Flawless. Kikka is absolutely flawless.
The dance is pretty simple. But at least the outfit is cute.
You can’t beat Kikka’s bright smile. It almost beats Zukki’s. Almost.
I know that high heel wedges are in style right now, but how in the world does she dance in them?
Adorable dance move.
Lip synching is not one of her strong points. She exaggerates way too much.
Setting a place at the tabel for her dog is adorable.
Simple isn’t even the right word for this dance.
I’m not even sure why, but for some reason this is one of my favorite scenes.
It’s awesome the I love you in sign language is one of her dance moves.
Pretty much everything Kikka does is adorable.
I’m not sure what this is all about.
Too cute for words.
Why is she lifting her leg up like that?
Awkward dance move. (And a horrible cap.)
Aww, she looks so sad here.
And yet so pretty whe she plays with her hair.

It was announced recently that Kithara Sayaka will be releasing her 2nd solo single. The single is titled Kanari Junjou and is being released on November 9th. The song is currently being used as the ending theme to the anime Inazuma Eleven, just like her first solo single, Yappa Seishun, was.
I can’t really say that I’m excited by the fact that Sayaka is releasing another single. Her voice isn’t really the most pleasant idol voice out there. The song itself sounds a lot like Yappa Seishun. Listen to Kanari Junjou and Yappa Seishun back to back, and you’ll see that they have nearly identical instrumentals. And because of that I’m impressed with this song about just as much as I was with Yappa Seishun, which wasn’t a whole lot. I probably like this song less that Yappa Seisun. During the chorus you can really hear the screechyness in her voice. In the verse she doesn’t sound that bad. It’s just went she forces her voice to sing in a higher range than she’s capabale of, that her voice is nearly unbearable.
You can purchase this single from CDJapan by clicking the links below.
Recently a short version of the PV for Kikkawa Yuu’s 2nd single, Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ was released. Which is most likely 2/3 of the actual PV, and spoils the surprise of the full version. I can’t stand when they release more than A 30 second preview of a PV. If they are going to release 23 of the PV, why not just release the full PV?
When I saw the first PV preview for this song I was completely dissapointed because it looked like it was nothing more than Kikka in the recording studio. However, that couldn’t be farther than the truth. I am a huge Kikka fangirl and was practically sold after the first 20 seconds. The PV is absolutely amazing, and seems to have a big budget. It’s dynamic and has a lot of different scenes and elements in the PV. Kikka is wearing 3 different outfits, is shot in 4 or 5 different locations, has 3 different close-ups shots, a dance shot, and is featured doing a handful of different activites. The PV is a quintessential summer PV, and some elements of it remind me of ManoEri’s Hajimete no Keiken PV. This PV blows Kikka’s first PV out of the water. However, Hapirapi ~Sunrise~ is only half as good a song as Kikkake wa You. But it is growing on me. Everything about this PV is just perfect. Kikka looks absolutely flawless, and with each passing single it proves more and more that Kikka should have been a soloist for years now. I absolutely cannot wait until the full version is released.
Kikkawa Yuu announced, via her Kikka Mail, the she will be releasing a new song. The new song is entitled Hapirapi~Sunrise~, but no other details about the song are known. Not even the release date, or whether this song is an upcoming single or just a B-side track to one.
Regardless of the information being pretty vauge as of now, I’m just really excited that we’re getting new info on her music. Which means it won’t be much longer until we get another single from Kikka. Which is great news because I absolutely love Kikka and I adored Kikkake wa You. She’s only released one single and I already like her 10 times more than ManoEri. Since Kikkake wa You was released in May we probably won’t get another single until September. But I honestly don’t mind waititng a bit.
The PV for Kitahara Sayaka’s debut PV has finally been released. With only 2 weeks until the release date of the single.
The PV itself is fairly simple and boring. The PV preview a few days back pretty much showed the entire PV. Most of the PV is really nothing more than close-ups. The first close-up scene is Sayaka standing on a set in front of a cloud background. It also flashes to the other close-up featured in this PV, Sayaka in her puffy dress in front of a laser background. And not even a cool laser background. It kind of looks like the laser backgrounds you used to take your school pictures in front of. And then the rest of the PV is Yossie coaching her in various sports. Which are actually my favorite parts of the entire PV. It’s the only time there’s actually a bit of variety in the PV. But I actually don’t get why she’s gets coached so much. Despite Inazuma Eleven being about an anime about soccer, for some reason she gets coached in not only soccer but baseball, volleyball, tennis, karate, and tug of war. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I guess that was the cheapest way they could spice up the PV, so it was nothing but close-ups. But this has to be the cheapest PV in the history of UFA. I mean, Sayaka is an idol and she doesn’t even really dance in the PV. She does dance a bit in the video, but the choreography is so simple and lazy you can’t even tell it is choreography. I had no idea her random movements were an actual dance until she was doing the same movements in both close-ups. Beacause to me it honestly looked like she was just doing random things with her hands that all idols do during close-ups.
I absolutely love the dress.
Sayaka looks pretty, but I can’t get over how different she looks now
compared to then.
Apparently tapping to the beat is now considered dancing.
Everybody scream imi nai kedo.
This is pretty much like what the PV is like from here on out.
For some reason this is the only dance move I don’t think is stupid. Even though it’s only punching.
Volleyball practice, Koha would be proud. XD
Wow, this lighting actually makes Sayaka look really creepy and weird.
I just noticed this, but it looks like she fixed her teeth. They look much better now.
This face would probably creep me out more if Yossie didn’t make similar faces all the time while she sang.
On the 13th anniversary of Morning Musume’s debut, Dream Morning Musume held a press conference. They announced they would be releasing an album and are extending their tour dates. The album is titled DoriMusu 1 (Which is obviously an abbreviation of Dream “Dorimu” and Morning Musume) and will be released on April 20th. The album will consist of covers of older Momusu songs but will also contain 2 new songs.I’ve never mentioned Dream Morning Musume on my blog before, so I’m going to explain what it is for people who don’t know. Dream Musume is a group consisting of all the Morning Musume graduates. Of course only the ones still affiliated with H!P. And except for Kamei Eri, JunJun, and LinLin. They obviously graduated too late to be a part of this. And with them graduating from H!P as well, I doubt they ever would be part of it anyway. The current line up is Nakazawa Yuko, Iida Kaori, Abe Natsumi, Yasuda Kei, Yaguchi Mari, Ishikawa Rika, Yoshizawa Hitomi, Ogawa Makoto, Fujimoto Miki, and Kusumi Koharu. You may notice Tsuji Nozomi and Konno Asami are not part of the lineup. That’s because Nono is busy taking care of her newborn son, and KonKon is busy being a TV Tokyo reporter.
I have to say that this is completely exciting news. It really seems like a dream to me. My absolutely favorite Morning Musume member, Kusumi Koharu, is back where I love her to be. Singing and dancing to Morning Musume songs. I’m also really happy that they are releasing an album. I thought their dream concert was going to be a one shot deal. Since M-Line has pretty much not done anything lately. This is a good indication of Dream Morning Musume’s future as a unit. Releasing an album with 2 new songs means they are testing the waters to be a legit group. And calling it DoriMusu 1, means that there is going to be a second album. If not it would probably just be called something like Dream Collection or something like that. It also seems like future graduates will be shuffled into the group, assuming they want to join. Kinda like the Elder Club never stopped. Well, at least not the Momusu part.
To me it really seems like the fans responded really well to Afternoon Musume and wanted something official. Either way I am completely thrilled and look forward to what Dream Morning Musume will be up to in the future.
On November 24th Tsuji Nozomi will be releasing her first album entitled Minna Happy! Mama no Uta. Which even with my limited Japanese I can translate it to Everyone Happy! Mama’s Song.
I am extremely happy that Nono will finally be making music again. I just complained recently on my blog that I would love to see Tsuji making music again. And of course as soon as I heard about this the first thing that came to mind was, what kind of music will Tsuji be making? Will she continue to release the W type music she used to or will she start releasing more mature music now that she is a mom? The title of her album kinda makes it seem like she’ll be making music geared towards children. Which I hope is not the case.
I also really wish Nono was still part of H!P. I can totally see her touring with S/mileage. Especially since she was just in their PV. Maybe they’ll at least perform together sometime.
I also wonder if she’ll be releasing a PV to promote the album. Japanese artists hardly ever release PVs for album tracks. And she doesn’t have any singles currently, so she’ll have to release something to promote the album. Since it’s being released in November perhaps she’ll release a single right before the album. But it seems to close for that, and she would have announced the single first. I really don’t know right now. This new is giving more questions than answers.
Several OG Morning Musume members have formed a new unit called Afternoon Musume to promote Georgia coffee drinks. The units consists of Nakazawa Yuko, Iida Kaori, Abe Natsumi, Yasuda Kei, Yaguchi Mari, Fujimoto Miki, and Ogawa Makoto. In the commercials they sing an original song entiled Gohoubi no Afternoon Coffee. AKA an enka version of Morning Coffee. It is still unconfirmed if this will be released as a single.
I gotta say this CM and song aren’t exactly my cup of coffee tea. I absolutely hate the overly Japanese theme of it. Mainly because I don’t find enka music to be all that appealing. However I find the geisha outfits to be adorable. I also am incredibly sad that KonKon isn’t a part of this at all. But I’m super excited for OG being pimped again. Even though I’m not an OG fan at all. It’s nice to know every once in a blue moon UFA lets them do something other than gather dust.
UFA & BS-TBS held a press conference to announce auditions. But not the auditions every Morning Musume fan has been holding their breathe for, for over 2 years. Nope, it’s not the Morning Musume 9th generation audition announcement at all. Instead they announced they will be holding auditions in 5 cities to find an actress to stage in Morning Musume’s stage play in June.
Well an acting audition, that has nothing to do with a new Morning Musume member at all. Expect that that’s exactly what it could mean. Morning Musume is looking for an actress for a stage play, which means she won’t only have to be able to act she’ll probably have to sing as well. Well let’s say this winning girl ends up being a good singer. And let’s say this winning girl interacts well with Morning Musume. Then Tsunku could put together that “Hey, this girl will fit together nicely with Morning Musume!” I tend to overanalyze things but this seems in the realm of possibility. I mean Tsunku does seem to make spontaneous decisions. Like when he added LinLin and JunJun and when he formed Coconuts Musume. People should pay close attention to this audition. We might just be seeing the next Morning Musume member in this stage play. You never can tell with Tsunku.
To commemorate their first performance in the US, Hangry & Angry are releasing a brand new single entitled Sadistic Dance. This single is however just a digital single. Japanfiles has released a preview of the song.
At first listen I didn’t really think I’d like this song because the music and singing started off really soft. And it’s completely different than their last single, Kiss Me Kill Me. But the music picks up really quickly. I love the overall sound of the music, it’s sweet and still rock like. And the guitar solo towards the end of the song is juts awesome. Singing wise, it’s really great. Yossie and Rika blend great together. And they sound really cute while they are saying Sadistic Dance. The song ends up being really great, but it’s not a song I’d have to have. It’s really catchy though.
Graduated members from H!P will have their own separate fanclub called M-Line. Melon Kinenbi and Aya Matsuura will also have their own. But Yuko Nakazawa, Iida Kaori, Natsumi Abe, Mari Yaguchi, Kei Yasuda, Hitomi Yoshizawa, Rika Ishikawa, Nozomi Tsuji, Asami Konno, Makoto Ogawa, Miki Fujimoto, Mai Satoda, and Ongaku Gatas will all fall under M-Line.
Now we’ve know about M-Line for a few months, but it’s not until recently their own website launched. And it seems instead of being called Elder!Club it’s going to be M-Line. It would have been cool for it to be H!P and E!C. But also kind of stupid.
It’s nice to see that the girls didn’t disappear forever and have some sort of plans for the future. But it seems like Aya Mastuura and Melon Kinenbi have a brighter future since their fanclubs are separate from M-Line all together. But I’m still pretty excited for this.
I want to see KonKon and NoNo being very busy and working like there’s no tomorrow. I’d also like to see Makoto do something too. Since she came back to H!P suddenly and was graduated shortly after. Besides KonKon, NoNo, Makoto, and Ongaku Gatas are really too young to be in this. They were even too young for Elder Club. But just because once you graduate from Momusu you are now lumped into Elder Club. I always found something silly with that.
On February 1st, H!P’s Elder Club graduated and preformed their last concert as members of H!P. It was the largest H!P ever with 72 members in total. The end of Elder Club also marked the end of the song Love Machine. They will be retiring the song from further concerts. It really is sad to see all the members leave, everyone who made H!P what it is today.
This concert showed the return of several things. Tanpopo, Pucchi Moni, Sakura Gumi, and Otome Gumi. But most importantly it marked the return of Tsuji Nozomi. After a year and nine months she is finally back on stage. Tsuji said how she was nervous about dancing again, but after the music started it all came back to her.
Yuko hands over H!P to Ai. Makin Ai-chan the oldest member at 22. I wonder how long it will be before Ai is too old and graduated from H!P completely?
Former 4th gen member of Morning Musume, and the other U in W, Tsuji Nozomi is back in action with a snazzy new blog. It was only a matter of time before Tsunku let her out of the dark. She can finally show her face publicly again. So, maybe she can finally be seen on her husband’s blog. And not just her hand randomly seen in a picture. But whatever Nono is finally back! And I thrilled for it! I would have liked to hear news about her a little sooner. Tsunku waited until the last minute. With the Elder Club concert coming up she’d be in the news eventually.
I am waiting to hear more news of her career, that seems to be back in full swing. But just how well will Nono sell without Aibon? That’s what I’ve been asking myself since Aibon left. I mean she’s been practically attached at the hip to Aibon her whole career. And after Aibon got suspended and fired she hasn’t done anything. She voiced an anime character but didn’t release any singles. Aside from singing the theme for it. She was also in Gyaruru for about 5 minutes before she got married and announced her pregnancy.
But this blog points in the direction of her starting a solo career or being part of a new group. Which is really exciting. The blog it’s self is very cute and pink, just like you’d expect from Tsuji-chan. She has 2 posts and I’m not 100% sure what the blog says since I can speak really little Japanese and can’t read any. Horrible translation sites say she has been busy taking care of Nao who turned 1 in November. She talks about cooking things and interest in fashion. She also mentions being nervous about returning to the stage for Elder Club concerts.
It’s about time to have official Tsuji news. Tsuji fans, like myself, have been waiting a long time for this. And hopefully Nono has something big planned for the future.
Aya Matsuura’s 21st single, Chocolate Damashi, is being released on Feburary 11th. And it’s meant to be a Valentine’s Day present to her fans. Which kind of makes me laugh because it’s like indirectly only meant for male fans because in Japan only guys receive gifts on Valentine’s Day. Women receive gifts a month later on White Day. But I don’t Aya even thought of it that way. This single will also be her last single as a part of H!P.
I’m not really a fan of Aya’s more mature music, I only really liked her first few singles. But this song seems genuinely sweet and fun. And the music sounds like something Puffy would be doing, but just a dash more pop. Aya’s voice and image are so mature it’s really hard to believe she’s in her early twenties. Her voice sounds really sweet in this song but that’s not really enough to make me love this song. I think this song is mediocre at best. Even vocally Ayaya has sounded better. But I do love the playfulness of it but I prefer her older stuff. It was more cutesy and more over the top.
The first thing that really pops out about this video is her outfit. I mean it’s practically clashing. A pink and with striped dress with blue polka dotted stockings. Tsk tsk didn’t anyone teach Aya not mix patterns. Her shoes, as fabulous as they are, they just don’t match. Well they almost do but it looks awkward. And what’s up with her mini Lolita hat? If you’re not wearing a puffy lolita dress, those hats are just never nice to wear. Even though her outfit is practically a fashion disaster. I really like it. It’s put together so oddly enough that it just works.
I don’t think this video could get any cheaper. She’s covered wall to wall with boxes of chocolate. There’s a random bed, lamp, and table but that’s it. She doesn’t do much more than just sit there. This song is a little fast paced couldn’t she dance a little? Or do something? There’s also not even close ups of her face. The closest it gets is her torso. Which fits more for this type of song, but still I’d like to see a little something special. I mean, it’s her last official under H!P shouldn’t she have gone out with a bang? This single should have made them regret the Elder Club graduations not prove it was a smart idea.
