AKB48 member and solo artist Itano Tomomi announced at a handshake event, that in addition to her already announced 2nd single she will also be releasing two digital singles. Her first digitial single is titled Wanna be Now and is being released on May 11th. The second single is titled Ai Ai Pierce and will be released on June 1st. These digital singles will only be available through the moble phone downloading site Recochoku. Meanwhile, her still to be untitled 2nd single was supposed to be released on April 27th, but has been pushed back until July 13th.
Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t this seem a bit like overkill? I understand that Dear J was pretty popular and sold over 200,000 copies, but to basically release 3 singles after another just seems like too much. And I am not being biased. I find it just as ridiculous when Arashi frequently does it, and find it ridiculous that Kanjnai8 is doing it now. I guess they are having so many single at once for 2 reasons. Obviously the first is it seems like the earthquake effected her releases quite a bit. Since her 2nd single was supposed to be released on April 27th, it seems like at least one of those song was intended to be used as her 3rd single. And the other reason being simply: she sells well, so why not get all the money they can out of her in her peak popularity.
Coming from someone who didn’t really want to see her release a 2nd single, I obviously am not to happy about basically 3 more. But there’s nothing I can do about that. Also, it really sucks for foreign fans that these digital singles can only be purchsed through Recochoku.
It was announced recently through Twitter that H!P solo artists Mano Erina will be releasing her 10th single. The single is titled My Days For You and will be released on June 29th.
Honestly, when I first heard the name of the song it completely reminded me of Gazette’s song Anata no Tame no Kono Inochi, because it translates to my life for you. However, I doubt the songs is going that creepy or even similiar at all. XD Anyway, I wish I could say I was really excited for this release. ManoEri’s singles are either hit or miss for me. And I find her album songs to be pretty boring, what I’ve heard of them anyway. I will admit I have been starting to like some of her songs a lot lately. But I still think they are on the bottom half of what H!P is releasing.
Of course with the release date so far away, we don’t really know anything else about the single. But I will keep this blog updated on the news as it comes.
Going along with what seems to be a release spree, Buono announced that they will be releasing their 12th single. The title is still unknown, but the single will be released on June 15th.
I’m not sure what’s going on but it seems like every idol group is releasing a single in the month of May or June. Did the earthquake really effect music that much? Well, whatever the case is I’m a super excited for another Buono single. They seem to be the most consistent H!P group. There’s hardly any song by them that I don’t like. As always, I’ll keep this blog updated with info as it comes.
C-ute seems to be extremely busy these days. Kiss Me Aishiteru is only a little over a month old, and their 6th album is being released in 5 days. You’d think that would be enough for a while. But of course you’d be wrong. C-ute just announced they will be releasing their 16th single. The single is entitled Momoiro Sparkling and will be released on May 25th.
The name of the single is pretty much all we know about it for now. The title automatically makes me think of Momoiro Kataomoi by Ayaya. However, since C-ute has been releasing more mature singles lately I think the name is going to be the only similarity. I’m actually really looking forward to this single. C-ute’s single’s lately have been incredible. Seriously, each single is better than the last. Except Campus Life ~Umarete Kite Yokatta~. I just try to forget that single exists. XD
Despite AKB48’s debut album being released in June, AKB48 just continues to pop out releases. I believe the reason for that is the expression, “strike while the irons hot.” I’m kidding of course. AKB48 has announced that they will be releasing their 21st single on May 25th. Not only that but they also announced they will be doing Senbatsu elections for their 22nd single.
Of course, since their single is being released nearly 2 months from now nothing about the single is know. But as always I’ll update as soon as the news comes out. I’m actually really excited for the Senbatsu elections. This will mark my first election as an actual fan. I’ve seen 2 elections before, but I was a casual fan then and didn’t really even know who the girls were then. I don’t really have anything to worry about with the elections since Mayuyu was 5th last time, so obviously she’ll place again. (Let’s hope it’s higher. :P) I would like to see Sayaka make it in the A-side this time. Hopefully DiVA will help her get there.
AKB48 sub group French Kiss has just announced they will be releasing their 3rd single. The song is entitled Kakkowarui I love you and will be released on May 11th. The song will be used as the opening theme to the anime Sket Dance where Kashiwagi Yuki voice acts in.
Since the release is over a month away there’s not much known about the single so far. The only thing that is know is the Limited Edition Type A won’t come with a drama this time. I’ll keep updated on this single as news about it gets released.
After making my post about Momusu’s new single I completely forget, that I haven’t mentioned Berryz’s new single yet. Berryz Koubou announced a few days ago that they will be releasing a new single. The song is currently untitled and will be released on May 4th. Which is only 1 month and 2 days after their last single, and only 5 days after their 7th album.
Berryz Koubou fans are getting A LOT of releasing all at one. 2 new singles, an album, and a photobook. This is either an extremely good thing or and extremely terrible thing. Well, only terrible because Berryz fans will need to sell a kidney just to buy all their releases. XD
Even though Morning Musume’s 45th single isn’t being released for another 20 days, Morning Musume has just announced their 46th single! The single is currently untitled and will be released on May 18th, just 26 days after their 45th single. Wow, this really is too soon after their last single. But I’m not reallying complaining because I’m a huge Morning Musume fan, and the more singles the better. I just hope the quality of the song doesn’t suffer because it’s being rushed out. Even though I am excited there has to be a reason another single is being released so quickly. Yes, it could be something mundane like giving the 9th gen much need experience in recording songs. Or having the fans get familiar with the 9th gen very quickly. Or even, so the 9th has a lot of songs to sing at their debut concert. Because we all know that since they are new, they are only going to sing backup.
But I think this new single has absolutely everything to do with Ai-chan. She’s leaving in the Fall, and she’s one of the most popular members/one of the highest money maker for the company. It seems like H!P and UFA are trying to get the most money they can out of Ai-chan’s fans before she leaves. That and Morning Musume is getting extremely close to releasing 50 singles. Which is a HUGE event for Morning Musume. And I’m willing to bet Tsunku wants Ai-chan to be a part of it. So, Momusu is most likely going to bang out 4 more singles this year. And I’m willing to bet the 50th single will be Ai’s graduation single. So, not only will Morning Musume will sell more because of the added promotion because it’s their 50th single. If Nanchatte Renai was the 40th single and had extra promo, imagine the extra promotion this one will get. But it will also sell more because it’s Ai-chan’s last single. And all the fans will miss her and want her last single to reach number 1.I mean, that is so brilliant it has to be true. Though this is just a prediction, so don’t hold me to it.
A few years ago AKB48 producer Akimoto Yasushi voiced his interest about spreading the AKB48 franchise globally, referring to it simply as World48. It seems that Aki-P has kept to his world about making that happening by announcing the first international 48 group, Taiwan48. They are still working on a name for the group, so expect the name to change in a couple of months. Though, you should totally expect it to be something along the lines of TWN48. XD
The groups has already started to be created and the process will be documented through a TV show starting this summer.
Aki-P said that he might consider making the 48 groups international. (Can we really use the word consider when he’s announced something like World48 before?) He said countries like Singapore, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, and Russia are possible locations for 48 groups. Also, I read in an article a few years ago that Italy and the United States were possible locations as well. But perhaps he was naming ones that are possible as of today. But who knows really.
Personally I’m excited for this. I think AKB48 is all kinds of awesome, so why not expand it further into Asia? Especially when AKB48 is so popular. As they say, strike while the iron is hot. I’m looking forward to this because I like Chinese music. I listen to a lot of Asian music. I’m curious to see what kind of music they will release.
Now, it might sound stupid but I was under the impression that AKB48 already released albums. I guess stage albums and their greatest hits albums don’t count. Who knew? XD This is extremely exciting news for AKB48 fans. Personally I am looking forward to hearing the songs. AKB48 always releases good songs, so I can’t wait to hear what types of songs are on the album.
But I also have to wonder how the album is going to work. AKB48 is an insanely huge group, so how are they going to decide who sings when? It’s not like singles were they can do a janken tournament or hold senbatsu elections. It’s also not a stage where they are already in their teams. So, how exactly is this going to work. If they split the songs into already existing teams or sub-groups, how is that different or exciting? I don’t know about you but if I wanted to see them in their predictable teams, I’d watch one of their stages. But I’m afraid that, that’s what’s going to happen. But if AKB48 is going to continue to stay on the top they are going to have to constantly be creative and different. Granted, albums do sell less than albums do. But since it’s AKB48 this album is sure to sell a million copies at least. I have extremely high hopes and expectations for this album. I hope I’m not let down.
I don’t know if anyone has noticed but lately I haven’t been blogging as much as I should be. That’s all thanks to this terrible cold I have courtesy of my sister who infected the whole house. But I wanted to make a post about this because I think it’s pretty exciting news. And I wanted to post about it before it became old news. Well, it’s technically old news anyway because this was announced about a week ago. I guess I wanted to post about it before it became so old it would be irrelevant.
It was announced that Morning Musume will be releasing their 45th single, Maji Desu ka Ska, on March 23rd. Not only is this their first single of 2011 it’s the first single to feature the recently added 9th generation.
Now of course with this announcement comes 2 questions I’m sure every Momusu fan is asking themselves. But let’s focus on one at a time.
Of course the absolute first question I was asking myself was, “I wonder who’s going to sing when.” Of course I’m mostly asking when the 9th generation will sing. Now, just because this is the new member’s debut single we shouldn’t automatically assume that they will get a significant amount of lines, or even any. If you recall on the 2nd generation’s and the 4th generation’s debut singles not one of the new members got a solo line. And there was only 8 members in Summer Night Town and they could have totally made the lines even. The only time every member of a generation gets a solo on their debut single is when that generation only consists of 1 or 2 members. Like with the 3rd gen, 7th gen, and both 8th gens debuts. Everyone seems to really love Shabondama because it was the only debut single to be lead by the new generation. Which is all well and good but everyone seems to forget that every 6th gen member got a solo line except for Eri. And you can’t even count on the best singer, or singers, of the generation to get a solo line. In the 5th gens debut single only Risa got a solo, despite Ai-chan being the best vocalist of the 5th gen.
So it’s really anyone’s guess as to when and how often the 9th gen will sing in this song. But personally I think each 9th gen girl will get 1 solo lines. And Mizuki and Riho may get 2. But that’s mostly because even though Tsunku is unpredictable, he’s not stupid. He has to build the 9th gen up right off the bat. Because over the last 4 years Tsunku dropped the ball on promoting the girls. Really Resonant Blue was the start of it, but Mikan wasn’t all that fair.
For the longest time it was the Ai, Risa, Reina, and Eri show. Morning Musume’s singles went from thinking that the song was good to thinking are they really leading it again. Losing lead singer and popular member Eri, and losing arguably the best singer Morning Musume has ever seen this fall, Momusu needs to change fast. So, I’m thinking Momusu’s line distribution will look like this: Reina and Risa lead. Sayumi and Aika get some of the lines Ai would normally get and split the lines Eri would get if she didn’t graduate. Then Sayumi, Aika, and Ai-chan have a minor lead. And the 9th gen gets a line or two. Ai is leaving so Momusu needs to start distancing themselves for Ai-chan now. Only singing wise of course. And they need to build up the fanbase of the current members, so Momusu can take the blow when Ai leaves this fall.
And of course the second question I asked myself was, “what will the song sound like.” The song is titled Maji Desu ka Ska!, so of course the song is going to have a ska beat. Just like Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~ had a big band beat. It’s obvious. But what’s not so obvious to me is what ska actually is. Whenever I heard ska music mentioned I always assumed that skaters and emo kids listened to ska. Which should be a clear indication that I’m not 100% familiar with ska music. The only actual song I know is ska is LANDS song Genki. And that’s only because it’s the ska version of the song.
When I watched Jin’s movie Bandage I absolutely fell in love with the ska version of Genki. Because the music is absolutely incredible. It’s got this sort of orchestra kinda reggae feel to it. I’ve been listening to this song nonstop for months. So, if Morning Musume releases a song along these lines, that would be absolutely incredible.
But having it be ska music pretty much indicates that the song is going to be upbeat and cheerful. Which Morning Musume desperately needs to release again. Because all of their singles have been sad and depressing sounding. Even the songs that are supposed to be positive came off as sad. All of their cheerful songs were wasted as B-sides or album tracks. I’m looking forward to Maji Desu ka Ska becoming this Momusu era’s Renai Revolution 21. Meaning I hope the older members feel too old and leave. But there’s not way that’s going to happen. Especially since Sayumi is absolutely in love with the 9th gen. Well, I hope in the very least this makes Tsunku add more members to the line up. To have a more balanced age.
If you’re as excited about this single as I am you can buy it from CDJapan by clicking the links below.
Hey! Say! JUMP sub-group (and possibly Nakayama Yuma w/BI Shadow sub-group?) NYC announced that they will be releasing a new single called Yumetamago. The song will be used as the ending theme for the upcoming Nintama Rantaro Ninjutsu Gakuen Zenin Shutsudou no Dan anime movie. The single will be released on March 9th.
You can already pre-order it from CDJapan. (Just click the links below.)
I do have some mixed feelings about this new single. I am excited for it don’t get me wrong, but I would be way more amped for another Hey! Say! JUMP! CD. But us JUMP fans can’t really complain with 2 singles, and almost 2 DVDs in 2010. (Summary was the very beginning of 2011, so it still really felt like 2010. XD) I am also sad because this single is being used for an anime so it’s most likely going to sound a lot like Yuuki 100%. I much preferred the direction Yoku Asobi Yoku Manabe was heading NYC towards. But I guess I’ll have to wait fro the preview before I judge the song. Also having the song being called Yumetamago makes me automatically think of Buono and Shugo Chara Egg. XD
The new that just about every Hello!Project fan, and non fan alike, have been waiting for has been announced. At the start of that H!P 2011 Winter concert, Morning Musume’s 9th gen was announced. The new 9th generation members are H!P 9th gen auditioners Sayashi Riho, Suzuki Kanon, Ikuta Erina, and Hello!Project Egg member Fukumura Mizuki.
I am 100% thrilled with the results. The 9th gen is the 4 members in total like I was hoping for, and my top 3 9th gen finalists made it. And one of the Egg members I predicted could have joined here made it in. Even though I would have preferred my beloved Saho Akari I am extremely happy with Mizuki. Thank god Tsunku didn’t make yet another mistake. He grabbed Riho up before anyone else could!
So right now here’s how the 9th generation stands.
You have the exceptional dancing, singing, and beauty of Sayashi Riho and Fukumura Mizuki. Then you have the quirkyness, less than perfect singing, high energy, endearing members Suzuki Kanon and Ikuta Erina. Which I’m really ok with. All Morning Musume needed was about 1 or 2 more girls to be able to handle solo lines/take over solos. Mostly because the current 5 members are all pretty capable of solo lines.
I do feel really bad for Otsuka Aina because she was a good singer and dancer, I hope she gets added to the Eggs or something. As for Mogi Minami I’m not really upset about her. She was nowhere near ready to debut. I am totally looking forward to the first single featuring the new members. I’m also looking forward to seeing them on TV, to see their personalities and how they interact with the other Morning Musume members. (I’m writing this sentence as I’m singing the verse about Eri from Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari. XD)
