Acchan’s PV has yet to bloom

The PV for Maeda Atsuko’s debut solo single has been released.

I was pretty excited to see the PV, because the preview made it seems like it was going to be a sad PV. But I don’t really think I understand the storyline so much. When I first saw the preview I thought Acchan’s husband was running off on her leaving her alone with their daughter. But after seeing the PV it’s actually her father who runs off and leaves her to take care of her sister. Which I get, but after that I’m not really sure. The entire PV shows Acchan with her sister. Playing with her and walking the streets with her. But then she loses her bus tickets and has to hitchhike. I thought all of that was supposed to symbolize her everyday struggle to take care of her sister. But it ends up just being a montage of one day. Which I should have picked up one since they both are wearing the same dress throughout the entire PV. In the end, the only reason they hitchhiked was so they could visit their dying mother in the hosptial.
And then that’s where I’m lost. If the entire point of the PV was for them to see their mother, what does the rest of it have to do with anything? Why did their father leave in the first place? And why did they emphasis on that if it wasn’t even important to the storyline? Why did they follow the two sisters around, and make it look like they were struggling, when only one day had passed? Why wasn’t the entire PV about them not being able to handle that their Mother is in the hospital?
I know the PV is supposed to be touching and sad, but there’s not really a distinct storyline to follow. So, I’m not exactly sure why I’m supposed to be sad or why any of this is happening. I guess they kind of touch on their sadness, when Acchan’s sister lines up all the plastic windmills. But other than that, nothing. Maybe I’m just dense and don’t see the obvious underline message of the PV. But I don’t actually see one.

The PV even starts with Acchan and her sister alone, but still in their house.

It then quickly flashes to Acchan looking completely sad on the side of the road. Which I guess is suppsosed to mean time has passed?

However, the scene where she is begging her father to stay they are wearing the same dresses. Actually Acchan’s outfit is different. But you can plainly see that her sister’s dress is the exact same one she wears throughout the PV. So, does that mean it’s the same day or a different day? And if it’s a different day, why is does her sister never change her dress?

To me, it looks like they are aimlessly wandering around because they don’t have a home. But if it’s the same day that’s impossible. I should really say time frame, because about 3 or 4 days actually pass throughout the PV.

I’m sure whatever this note from her father says helps the storyline too.

And her sister steals the plastic flowers,

for what appears to be a display in honor of their Mother I guess. XD

Then the man who gave them a ride looks at a picture of his own daughter. I guess to give the underline meaning to appreciate you children, or something. I have no idea.

Finally they are reunited with their mother.

Only for Acchan to show her a picture.

Former H!P Egg Kitahara Sayaka to debut as a singer

Hot off the heals of completeing her Egg training it was announced that Kitahara Sayaka will be making her debut as a seiyuu as well as making her official solo CD debut. Her debut single will be titled Yappa Seishun and will be released on June 22nd. Sayaka will be voicing Sorano Aoi, a character in the anime Inazuma Eleven, which her solo single will be used as the ending theme. This means Sayaka will be picking up where Berryz Koubou left off when it comes to ending themes for the Inazuma Eleven anime. Sayaka will be releasing this single under the name Sarano Aoi. Much like Kusumi Koharu did for her Kirarin Revolution single tie-ins.

I wish I could say I’m happy to see Sayaka doing this. I am happy for her in the sense that she hasn’t really done anything since Milky Way, and good for her. But to have her debut as a solo singer while a lot of more talented Eggs have either left, been shoved into a dancing group, or are just sitting there makes me extremely sad. In my opinion Sayaka is one of the absolute worst singers in Hello!Project rigth now. Granted I haven’t actually heard her sing since Milky Way, but I doubt she’s improved that much.
I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what her song sounds like. We might get lucky and it might not turn out to be a train wreck after all.

As always you can buy this single from CDJapan by clicking the links below.

Maeda Atsuko first solo single announced

During a recent AKB48 handshake event at Nagoya Dome, AKB48 member Maeda Atsuko she will be releasing her first solo single. The single is entitled Flower and will be released on June 22nd. The song will also be used in her movie Moshidora.

I’m sure most of the AKB48 fandom is absolutely thrilled by this announcement since Acchan is one of the most popular members. I gotta say I’m surprised that she hasn’t released a solo single before. She has the perfect mix of popularity and singing ability. I’m not really a fan of Acchan but I am excited for her debut. She has one of my favorite voices in AKB48 and I’m really excited to hear what her song is going to sound like. Apparently the song is going to be a ballad, which I’m not too happy with. But if the song sounds anything like 7ji 12fun no hatsukoi I’ll be happy.

You can of course purchase her solo single from CDJapan by clicking the links below.

Jin’s PV feels like an eternity

The PV for Akanishi Jin’s first solo single, Eternal, has been out for a while now. And I’m sorry that it’s taken me this long to write about it.

I actually didn’t intend to wait this long to do the review. I mean, today is the release date (technically yesterday in Japan) and I never wait that long to do a PV review. And if I do, it’s probably because I’m not reviewing it. But I said in a previous post about how I want to start reviewing all the idol PVs that come out no matter what.
And that’s the problem we have here. I’m supposed to review this PV, but there’s literally nothing to review. The PV is so boring and uneventful that I am left completely uninspired and unsure of what to even say. The PV is literally nearly 6 minutes of Jin doing absolutely nothing else but standing in a white hoodie singing. And I am completely bored by the whole PV. Yes, it’s a beautiful song, but the PV takes the song down a notch a bit. Now, I’m pretty sure people are going to say, “Jin is super busy. He’s trying to have both a career in the US and Japan. It’s not his fault he doesn’t have time to make a decent PV.” And I totally accept that, that’s most likely why his PV is so boring. Even though I accept that it doesn’t mean I have to like it because I don’t. And when a PV is that long and that boring you kind of want to bash your head on your desk. I’m not exactly sure how I managed to sit through it.

This is basically what the entire PV looks like.

Of course with some dynamic close up shots.

And that one frame where he almost writes something.

But let’s also not forget the inpressive layering effects.

Ok, so maybe he does write. But come on, only one sentence. Seriously?

Oh come on, you can’t just add this at the end, as if he actually wrote all that during the PV. By the way, Jin writes like chicken-scratch. That’s in English and I can barely read it.

Akanishi Jin-Eternal PV preview

With just 8 days until the release of Akanishi Jin’s first solo single, Eternal, we finally have a preview of the PV.

Under whelmed isn’t a strong enough word to describe this PV preview. There is nothing, absolutely nothing going on in this PV. It feels like Ultimate Wheels all over again. The PV preview consists of nothing but Jin standing with his hood up singing in front of a sepia colored clouded backdrop. I know the song is a ballad, but that’s not really an excuse for how boring this PV is. This is a beautiful love song, they could have done something with the PV. Where’s Jin pretending to play the piano while singing it? Where’s Jin laying in bed with the girl he wants to be with forever? Where’s any form of a storyline? And we can’t even blame JE for this one, as he’s signed to Warner and they take care of the PV budget now. But I’m sure the PV is only this simple because he must be incredibly busy working on his American album, while at the same time promoting a single in Japan. That might be the case, but it doesn’t make me less disappointed by the simplicity of the PV.

Akanishi Jin-Eternal preview

Akanishi Jin’s first Japanese solo single is being released on March 2nd. And of course there’s a preview of the song.

I know I’ve already make a post about Eternal, but I finally found an official version of the song. And it’s absolutely clear sounding and amazing. I really do love Eternal. I think the lyrics are incredibly beautiful and Jin sounds super hot amazing when he sings softly. However, this will probably be the only single he ever releases like this. It is a little sad because this song is so pretty. But as long as he releases songs similar to Wonder I’ll be happy.

I’m really excited to see him perform this song on Music Station in a couple of days. I’m even more excited to hear his US album in July. It’s pretty obvious which one is going to be a bigger hit. XD

Anyway, here’s the official version of the song for anyone who wants to hear it.

Itano Tomomi-Dear J preview

AKB48 member Itano Tomomi is releasing her first solo single. The single is entitled Dear J and will be released on January 26th.

After falling in love with Queen & Elizabeth’s Love Wars I’ve really grown to love Tomomi’s voice. Love Wars was probably the first time I ever actually heard her voice, and I was really surprised by how cute it was. So, when this single was announced I was really looking forward to it.

I’m a little sad that the short PV preview only lets us hear about 15 seconds of the song. I’m sure there’s a full radio rip floating around somewhere, but I can’t find it. But the little bit that I heard I completely wasn’t expecting. Maybe it’s the heavy music or the effects done to her voice, but Tomomi’s voice sounds a lot stronger and deeper than it usually does. I’m completely impressed by what I see and hear. The whole song and PV is reminiscent of something Amuro Namie would release. I’m actually looking forward to the PV. The song kinda very danceable and electronic sounding, I wonder if it was composed by a Korean person like SDN48’s GAGAGA.

Akanishi Jin signed to Warner Music

In the past I’ve been a few overanalyzed posts about Akanishi Jin’s future and singing career in the United States. You can click here to read about how I was skeptical about him debuting in the US at all. Or click here when I thought he might be leaving KAT-TUN.
Or click here when I overanalyzed that he HAD to be leaving KAT-TUN. Or here where I said Jin will never make it because he’s Asian and America is pretty much racist. Yes, that’s a lot of overanalyzing about Jin.
But it seems now we have an extremely large chunk of the Jin puzzle finally coming into place. In my post that I was skeptical about him debuting, I made the argument that fans didn’t even realize he didn’t have a record deal in the US. Well, Jin must personally be reading my blog because it was announced that Jin is now singed to Waner Music. The President of Warner Music Asia Pacific and Chairman & CEO of Warner Music Japan, Lachie Rutherford, announced that Akanishi Jin will be signing on with the company, as they will be handling his singing career in both English and Japanese.

So, there you have it. Jin finally has a snazzy record company that will be releasing his solo single Eternal, both in Japan and the United States. It seems my overanalyzing was just that. It seems that I was completely off track with everything. It both feels great to be wrong, but it hurts my ego at the same time.

You’d think this whole situation would make me stop over thinking and overanalyzing situations. But of course it won’t. I’m already thinking, “Ok, this was just announced recently, but that doesn’t mean he was signed today. He could have been signed months ago. If he was signed months ago he could be recording his English album now, it could be half done! That means we could see his English album in April or May!.” Don’t you just love my train of though?

Akanishi Jin’s first solo single Eternal

Akanishi Jin announced at his The U.S tour fan club send-off party that he will be starting a Japanese tour and will release a new single entitled Eternal. Jin said he couldn’t say the exct release date, but it will be in the beginning of 2011.

Now to anyone that keeps up to date with all things Jin, you will automatically recognize that this isn’t a new song. Jin performed this song at his You&Jin concerts. He also performed it with Yamapi during Yamapi’s Short But Sweet solo concerts.
Now, this is actually my first time hearing this song. Since I’m not really a big KAT-TUN fan, so by default I’m not really a big Jin fan. I mostly follow him for aesthetic purposes. Yeah, that might sound shallow, but at least I’m being honest.
The song is honestly to slow for my taste. And it just doesn’t seem like a type of song Jin would since. I know he wrote it so it’s obviously a Jin song. But I like his songs with strong background music. Like LoveJuice and Wonder.

The only thing I do like about this song is the lyrics. They are actually quite sweet and meaningful. Which is surprising.

Here’s the song, in concert rip quality.

Risako going solo!

Berryz Koubou member Sugaya Risako will be making her solo debut. She will be releasing a single later this year as Ibu Himuro, her character in the Mecha Mote series. Much like how Kusumi Koharu releases her singles as Kirarin Revolution Staring: Tsukishima Kirari. Or something to that effect.

Now I’m not really the biggest Risako fan in the world, and I also don’t hate her. Risako is more floating somewhere in the middle for me. But I am super excited for solo single. Mostly because H!P anime tie in songs are some of the best H!P songs out there currently. Buono, Kirarin Revolution, Athena & Robikerottsu Shugo Chara Eggs/Guardians 4 are just pure win for me. Yeah that’s right I love Guardians 4. Gotta love the extra does of Mittsi.

I’m also really interested in what her solo single will sound like. Because if Risako sings at certain frequencies it has the tendency to make your ears hurt slightly. Don’t kill me for that comment. XD I also wonder if she will make her voice sounds overly cute like Koharu did for her solo singles. Even Aika makes her voice sound cuter in Going On. But Risako’s voice is usually the exact same. But still she might opt for something cuter since it’s solo single for anime.

But yeah, I am really happy for Risako. I mean she’ll finally be up in the front more. I can barely even find her in Berryz Koubou PVs! Seriously, give less popular girls singles please. I’m expecting this single to be utter win, so don’t disappoint. And let’s hope she doesn’t leave Berryz Koubou immediately after her solo singles end, like Koharu did. XD

Also in honor of her upcoming solo debut here’s a small video spam of my favorite Risako performances.
