Wrapped up in SKE48’s new PV

The full PV for SKE48’s new single, Pareo wa Emerald, has been released. My PV rewview of this PV is just a tad late. But it has been extremely hot lately, so I’ve had to put blogging on hold for a bit.

I was pretty enamored with the PV preview when I first saw it. I was nearly half of the PV, so I thought there was going to be a good chance that I would like the PV. But after seeing the whole PV I’m kinda indifferent to it. While I do like the first hald because there is a lot going on. Dancing on the beach, watching a basketball game, an Alice Cooper-esque School’s Out mad rush out of the school, rowing, and other summery activities. While that is fine and dandy, and even down right adorable, the rest of the PV lacks the same pizzazz.  A good chunk of the rest of the PV is nothing more than cliff diving. Which was a cool element to the PV the first time, but the 8th jump just wasn’t as exciting. I also realize the diving is just an excuse to wear bikinis. Well, more bikinis then they are already wearing. But as a female fan, this doesn’t really do any thing for me. And instead I find it kind of boring. And there’s also this odd side story where Rena watches everyone happily cliff diving in sadness. I guess it’s supposed to mean she’s afraid to jump off the cliff. But have no fear, just like every other cliché, Rena pulls through and eventually jumps. But in her dress, so no shamless Rena bikini shot for you.

chool’s out! Ok, maybe this isn’t exactly a mad rush. But it’s close enough.

And then practically out of nowhere, there’s just intense arm flailing. Which is supposed to pass as dancing

Not even 30 seconds in and Jurina is creeping me out already. XD

I love their uniforms.

Random butt shaking dance move.

This girl is cute. Too bad I don’t know SKE48’s member’s names. There was a time when I did my friend. However, they were all puhsed out of my head when I remembered Passpo’s and SUPER GiRL’s names. XD

Seriously? A peek-a-boo dance move.

I find it a little sexist and stereotypical that they are cheering on the sidelines for “cute guys” rather than playing a game themselves.

This girl is pretty cute too.

Creepy smile!

Let the excessive bikini shots begin.

I guess everyone wearing the boy short bikinis are the young members. However, they kind of look like actual shorts. XD

I’ve been noticing purple bikini the whole PV. She’s the prettiest member of SKE48.

Overly excited, it looks too fake.

Ok, waving is officially the worst move I’ve ever seen in an idol dance.

The girl on the far right reminds me of Okai Chisato for some reason. XD

Why are so many idol PVs shot in America?

Um..what?

Ok, this is actually cute.

My god, she has old face. O_O

I love this bikini. XD

This girl is super cute. *O*

Rena is always watching.

This gave me wicked flashbacks.

To Keibetsu Shiteita Aijou.

And of course Everyday Kachuusha.

So much fanservice in one frame. XD

Hey would you look at that, it really was shorts. XD

SKE48-Pareo wa Emerald PV preview

The official SKE48 youtube channel uploaded a short version of the PV to their upcoming 6th single, Pareo wa Emerald. The PV preview is 1 minute and 38 seconds, so we get to see about 1/3 of the PV. I actually hate when PV previews are this long. Maybe I’m alone on this, but I actually think anything more than 30 seconds ruins the surprise of the PV.

Since this single is being released in the summer and a pareo is a wraparound skirt that’s usually worn over a bathing suit. I think it was pretty obvious that this PV was going to feature SKE48 wearing bikinis. Most of the girls are wearing bikini tops and pareos, but some of the girls are wearing pareo tops and shorts. And since Matsui Jurina is one of them, I’m guessing it’s because only the young girls are being covered up. Which makes no sense because at the end of the preview it shows the members in full bikinis jumping in the ocean. It even seems like Jurina might also be wearing a full bikini too. Selective censorship for the win, I guess? XD

The PV is a little different than I expected it. I thought it was going to be very similar to Ponytail to Shushu, where the whole PV was basically dancing on the beach and close-ups. But I’m glad that this PV has more to offer than just dancing on the beach. To keep up with the 48 groups school girl theme, the rest of the PV is either filmed in a school or doing school activites. Such as watching male classmates play basketball and being part of the rowing team. However, since they are all running out of the school in the beginning, I think this is supposed to be what they are doing with their summer break. Which actually adds even more the the summer theme.

I absolutely adore the song and the PV seems really cute and summery. So, I’m happy all around.

SKE48-Pareo wa Emerald preview

So, I haven’t really been keeping up with SKE48 despite me saying how I was going to over a month ago. Apparently SKE48 is going to release their 6th single, Pareo wa Emerald, on July 27th. But that was announced in May, so I’m sure most people have heard about it already. SKE48 preformed this song recently during one of their stages. (I think that’s were this clip is from, I’m 100% sure.)

As soon as the song started and it was just as a heavy dance track as Banzi Venus and 1!2!3!4! Yoroshiku I was in love. It actually is different fromthose songs, because they were a little more electronic sounding. While this song is a little bit more laid back. It sounds like amped up version of Gome ne Summer.
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely love every song that is basically a walking idol cliche. So if a song has heavy music and is insanely upbeat chances are I’m going to like it. I mean, it’s songs like this that make me want to get into SKE48 to begin with. The song might be a little boring for people, because it’s sung nearly the same way throughout the song. And honestly that’s the only draw back that this song has. But the song and dance have such high energy that I absolutely love the song.

As always, you can purchase this single from CDJapan by clicking the links below.

Why don’t I listen to SKE48 more?

Lately I’ve been getting into AKB48 a lot. I’m pretty much a full fledged fan. Besides the fact that I don’t know the girl’s personalities yet. Which is a work in progress. And since I’ve been focusing a lot on AKB48, I’ve pretty much been lazily following the sister groups. But now I see that I’ve been completely wrong in doing so. And because of this, I feel extremely stupid for neglecting them. Well, when I say them I mean SKE48. I’ve been following SDN48 closer than SKE48 because they are newer and easier to keep track of. And I’m sure you’re also wondering what I mean by, “because of this.”

Well, I’ll tell you exactly what this is. But first I want to start by talking about how I’ve been following SKE48. It’s not really following at all. I first became aware of SKE48 when they opened their official youtube channel. Mostly because everyone was making a big deal about it. I was intrigued so I wanted to find out exactly what they were about. So, I watched the Gomen ne, Summer PV and pretty much called it a day. I ended up liking the song, but have only listened to it a handful of times. Then a couple of months later I randomly found Tsuyokimono yo on youtube. I liked that song a little more and listened to it a couple of times every few weeks. Then when 1! 2! 3! 4! Yoroshiku! came out I actually wasn’t impressed with it. But a few months ago it got stuck in my head, and I’ve been in love with it ever since. But that’s pretty much the extent of what I listen to SKE48. I mean, when I heard about Banzai Venus I didn’t even bother listening to it.

I guess I should get back to why any of this is important. Recently AKB48 performed a medley on Music Japan, which I of course watched. While I was watching their performance I noticed how SKE48’s performance on Music Japan was a related video. I decided to watch it on a whim because I like 1! 2! 3! 4! Yoroshiku! and felt like listening to it. That was probably the best decision ever because after I watched the performance I basically instantly became of fan of theirs. The performance was absolutely incredible. It was so high energy and engaging that I was pretty much mesmerized. The performance was so awesome, half because both songs are my favorite type of idol song: heavy music, super upbeat, energetic, and cutesy. And half because both songs have insanely amazing dances. They both look pretty intricate and some what difficult. Which makes them fun to watch. I just found the whole performance completely engaging from start to finish.

All this really did was show me I need to start paying closer attention to SKE48. Because honestly, if they keep releasing songs like their last 2 singles I’ll probably end up liking them more than AKB48.

Here’s their Music Japan performance for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.

The coveted title

That’s right 4 idol groups were releasing on the same day: AAA, Morning Musume, KAT-TUN, and SKE48. It was inevitable that one would triumph over the rest. But the coveted title went to, of course, KAT-TUN.

From the very first day SKE48 fans and Morning Musume fans only worried about beating each other. A lot of fans seemingly forgot that KAT-TUN was releasing on the 17th as well. And of course after it was announced that KAT-TUN was releasing on the same day, there was no way either idol group stood a chance.
The Oricon Daily Chart goes as follows:

1. KAT-TUN – Change UR World
2. SKE48 – 1! 2! 3! 4! Yoroshiku!
3. Kobukuro – Ryuusei
4. AAA – PARADISE/Endless Fighters
5. Morning Musume – Onna to Otoko no Lullaby Game

Yes, SKE8 did beat Morning Musume by 3 spots. So I guess in a sense they did win. But none of that even remotely matters. They both lost to KAT-TUN, so basically it’s as if they both ranked at 24. Even if SKE48 did beat KAT-TUN, it wouldn’t really matter anyway. It would only matter to the anti H!P 48 groups fans, who would use this as a way of saying their idol agency is better. Which is petty and meaningless. I just think it’s funny that all this ruckus was made that SKE8 would beat Morning Musume, but they both lost.

Road to becoming an AKB48 fangirl part 2.5: SONGS

Ok, so I’m not even close to knowing all of AKB48’s songs, let alone SKE48 and SDN48s’ songs. Well actually they seem to all share songs for Stages. I’m not even sure what that’s about. XD
I still have pretty much just heard the singles. But in my defense AKB48 has a lot of songs. Besides I have to learn to crawl in the AKB48 fandom before I can run. So why am I witting about learning AKB48 songs now, when I haven’t actually learned them all yet? Well, there’s two reason for that. Reason one: It would probably take me a couple months to learn every single song from AKB48. Considering I still have to follow my JE and H!P fandom. Stop neglecting my Perfume and Scandal fandom. (Which I’ve been doing. I haven’t even heard Taiyou to Kimi ga Egaku Story yet! :/) And I still have to learn about Idolling!!!, Momoiro Clover, YuiKaori, and Canary Club. Not to mention every other fandom I have. (Jrock,Kpop,American fandoms) Plus my real life outside of idol music. XD Reason 2: I wanted to make a quick update on this so people didn’t think I was abandoning everything AKB48 related. Because as of right now my blog is still heavily H!P and JE related. Though I’m trying to fix that. But it’s going to take some time.

Recently I did watch Team A’s first stage. And I gotta say I loved what I heard. The songs are pretty much standard happy idol music, which is expected. Party ga hajimaru yo, Dear My Teacher, and Sakura no hanabiratachi are my favorites so far though. Even though the lyrics too Dear My Teacher are a little much, it’s so catchy I can’t help but like it! XD
I am pretty excited to watch Team B’s first stage. Of course mostly because of Mayu. But also because I’m excited to hear more songs from AKB48.

So yeah that’s pretty much my short update on all AKB48/SKE48/SDN48 related things. The next time I update about AKB48 it will be when I actually learn all their songs. XD

Road to becoming an AKB48 fangirl part 2: Putting a face to the name

I have finally finished what I thought I could never do. Yes, I have finally memorized all the members of SKK48, SKE48, and SDN48. And it surprisingly only took me 2 days. If you broke into hours it took me, probably, only 4-5 hours. Which is a lot quicker then I thought it would take. I thought I’d be there for days.

My method for remembering everyone’s name was pretty simple. First I broke it down to groups, AKB48, then SKE48, and then SDN48. And because AKB48 is so large I broke it down to teams. I then listed each girl with a picture and then her name. I then went down the list and repeated every girls names. I then went over and over the list until I could remember each girl’s name from memory. It’s a pretty long and drawn out process, but it works. I used the same technique back in the day to remember Morning Musume’s names.

I actually feel really accomplished to finally learn all their names. Well all of them minus Research Students. I don’t really feel the need to learn trainees names. I don’t really care about a member until they debut. Much like I don’t pay attention to Hello!Project Eggs or Johnny’s Juniors.

Also when I went through the list I marked down the girls I was interested in. Basically the girls I thought were cute or pretty. Here are my favorite girls so far, if anyone cares. Nakagawa Haruka, Iwasa Misaki, Kuramochi Asuka, Nonaka Misato, Umeda Ayaka, Miyazawa Sae, Masuda Yuka, Ishida Haruka, Watanabe Mayu(of course!), Miyazaki Miho, Kashiwagi Yuki, Hirajima Natsumi, Sato Natsuyaki, Mukaida Munatsu, Kito Momona, Imade Mai, Hanada Ayane, Uchiyama Mikoto, Sato Yukari, Umeda Haruka, Kohara Haruka, and Okochi Misa.

Yeah I know that’s a lot of girls. XD But the one girl that was my absolute favorite and struck out the most for me was Kuramochi Asuka. She was incredibly adorable and gorgeous. She might actually rival Mayu for the top spot. But who knows. I’m still know to the fandom. I might find someone with an amazing personality that trumps everyone else.
And also, I was really surprised by how many ugly girls are in AKB48. And I’m sorry to all the AKB48 fans out there, but its true. A majority of them aren’t exactly easy on the eyes. But that’s expected with a agency so large. H!P and JE hardly has an ugly members because they don’t have that many debut artists. Again Eggs and Juniors don’t count. Or for that matter I don’t even pay attention to older JE artists like SMAP and V6. XD

So this officially makes me 1/4 of the way into the AKB48 fandom. Now all I have to do is learn the music, learn the history of AKB48, and watch AKBINGO/learn about the girls. I’m extremely excited, especially since the hardest part, learning their names, is out of the way. Though because I’m a loser I’ll probably repeat the girls names over for about a week or so to make sure I don’t forget them.

By the way, to any AKB48 fans reading this, are the new team line ups the official team line ups from now on? I mean are they going to be this permanently or are they going back to the original team line up a few months down the road? And feel free to laugh away at my noobish question.
