The full PV for Berryz Koubou’s upcoming single, Aa, yo ga Akeru, has been released.
I am absolutely in love with the PV. Finally it’s a video that’s not the same standard idol formula! After I saw the PV preview I had some fears that the entire PV was going to be nothing but them singing on the stairs. But there’s actually a lot of elements in this PV. The video is filmed in this beautiful castle, and they actually make use of it. It seems like you get to see a nice chunk of the castle. Some of the girl’s walk around, and each girl is in a seperate room for their close-up shots. They are also sitting on the stairs for the group singing parts, and the dance scene also has its own seperate room. Which makes the video pretty interesting because you never really see the same setting for that long. The only real fault you could find with this particular video is there’s not actually a storyline. But I’m completely fine with that because there’s so many different scenes in this PV you don’t even notice that. The PV really has everything going for it, it’s interesting and the girls look gorgeous. Much like Buono’s Natus Dakara PV, this PV seems to be one giant beauty shot. Which is an obvious plus. This video as a whole just has a elegant, classy, and highend. It just has this sort of princess feel to it. The kind of vibe I wanted the Kimagure Princess PV to have.
This castle is beautiful.
Risako’s room is gorgeous.
It sucks that Miyabi has to sit by the front door though. Lol.
Yurina looks gorgeous here.
This room is beautiful.
The contrast is so high you can’t even see half of Risako’s nose. XD
Yurina looks so amazing! *O*
Why does Chinami look so sad?
Risako’s looks sad and pretty at the same time.
I love how Massa looks angry. Lol.
Yurina! There are no words! *O*
And all that jazz! XD The dance is actually a little awkward.
Momoko looks really pretty.
Hot! Is she wearing green contacts?
I love this hair on Saki.
Everyone looks gorgeous here.
But it stil reminds me too much of their Very Beauty PV.
I can’t get over how super pretty Momoko looks in this PV.
A 30 second commercial for Berryz’s upcoming single, Aa, Yoru ga Akeru, is beginning to air. Giving us fans yet another sneak peek at the PV.
Most of this PV preview is the same as the last PV preview. Where is shows Berryz Koubou singing on stairs à la the Very Beauty PV.But beyond that we also get to see the close-up scenes, where everyone looks absolutely gorgeous. And from that we can see that it seems like the PV is set in a mansion. Which is a nice setting actually. A big improvement from the Ai no Dangan set. Let’s hope they utilize the set to their full advantage. Because even though the setting is good, they could still mess up this PV. Like focusing too much on the stairs. XD
A TV show has just released a small preview of Berryz Koubou’s upcoming single Aa, Yoru ga Akeru. Small being the operative word here, the PV preview is only about 13 seconds long.
In that 13 seconds we don’t get to see a whole lot. All we see in Berryz sitting on stairs and singing the chorus. Which immediately made me flash back to their Very Beauty PV. There’s not really much else going on in the preview. Except the girls looking every bit as lovely in this PV as they do on the covers. Which is always a plus.
The radio rip for Berryz Koubou’s upcoming 27th single, Aa, Yoru ga Akeru, has just been released.
When I first listened to the radio rip, I wasn’t expecting what I heard at all. The song is very weird sounding. It’s like 2 different genres at once. It sounds like techno, diso, funk, and a ballad all rolled into one. And the music sounds like a bunch of different H!P songs jumbled together. It sounds like Furare Pattern, Suki Sugite Baka Mitai, Grand Demo Rouka Demo Medatsu Kimi, Happy! Stand Up, and Koi no Jubaku. Even though the song is almost a jumbled mess at times, I absolutely love every second of this song. The music is incredibly weird, infectious, and slightly addicting. And I love all the high notes at the end of the chorus. They sound really amazing. Especially Miyabi’s. And I love all the little harmonizing she does in the middle of the song. But Yurina is really bringing it too. The one line she hits at the end is really amazing. I never really noticed how high of a range Yurina really has until I heard Heroine ni Narou ka. Now, if only she was better at singing live. XD
Even though I am love with the song,I’m a little dissapointed by the line distribution. The song is back to what most Berryz songs are. The 4 main singers and then you never hear the other members at all. I literally can’t hear the other members. I’m sure they sing. But even at group parts you can barely hear their voices. I think the only other one you can kinda hear cleatly is Saki. And not only that, this song seems to mainly focus on Risako. Which is always boring, because they always focus on her. Just when it seems like Berryz is finally letting the other members sing, they make a song like this.
It was just announced that Berryz Koubou will be releasing their 27th single. The single is entitled Aa, Yoru ga Akeru and will be released on August 10th. Which is just 2 months and 2 days after the release of Ai no Dangan. And this also makes Berryz the 3rd idol group to be releasing a single on August 10th. The other 2 being Kis-My-Ft2 and DiVA.
I’m really hoping that this single turns out to be good. Lately, every other single they release is awesome while the other single isn’t that great. Maji Bomber was great, Shining Power not so much. Heroine ni Narou ka was amazing, Ai no Dangan could have been better. I just hope they don’t release two duds in a row. Also, I don’t understand why Berryz is releasing another single so soon after their last one. Usually Berryz releases a new single every 3 or 4 months. Two months later just seems excessive.
It was announced recently that Berryz Koubou will be releasing their 27th single. As for now, the single in untitled but it will be released on August 10th.
I wish I could say that this was announced really soon after their last single but it’s not really. Berryz usually releases a new single ever 3-4 months. Granted this is just a mere 2 months after the release of Ai no Dangan, but for Berryz that’s really nothing. As my 2nd favorite H!P group I’m always looking forward to their next single. Let’s hope it has a better PV than Ai no Dangan.
With a little more than 2 weeks until the release date, Berryz Koubou has finally revealed the full PV for their upcoming single, Ai no Dangan.
After being utterly dissapointed by Ai no Dangan’s PV, I shuttered to think what the full PV was actually going to be like. I was pretty happy to find that the PV wasn’t as terrible as I had imagined it would be. I thought the PV was going to be close-ups and dances scenes, and that’s it. Done, finished. However, that wasn’t the case. Yes, it was mostly just close-ups and dance scenes, but this is H!P we are talking about. They hardly every venture outside of that comfort zone. This PV actually did try to be more exciting and dynamic. It was trying really hard to be interesting and impress the viewer. It was like the little PV that could. However, this PV never started it’s engine down the proverbial train tracks. Instead we are left with remnants of what could have been a decent PV all jumbled together in hopes of making something watchable and half way decent. There were a lot of gems in the PV that if they were executed correctly could have made for an outstanding and incredible PV.
For one the Abstract imagery throughout the PV. Abstract images and effects were scattered throughout the entire PV. But only used here and there and not really often enough. The images are mostly used for the dance scenes as something interesting to dance in front of. However, you hardly even notce it’s there with the mixure of Berryz themselves blocking the view, and quite honestly wanting to pay more attention to the girls themselves, since they are the main reason you’re watching the PV. There are a few awesome scenes where they have purikura looking shapes pop up on the screen. Which by the way is my absolute favorite part of the whole PV. However, there are only flashes of these. And they are rarely used on the most opportune moments. They are the most visually appealing, and attention grabbing aspects of the PV. It’s just really sad that they are used more. And the one opportunity they had to go all out effects wise was the background of the close-ups. However, they completely blew it. I guess they didn’t want it to be too distracting so you wouldn’t focus on the girls. But instead the results was just a very muted, understated, and slightly boring background image.
The opening screen in really pretty. Too bad the rest of the PV can’t be this way. :/
Come on, with Maasa looking like this what are you going to really notice?
I love this effect.
Miya looks super pretty, but I just hate the background.
Here’s another cool effect. But it’s done at such an awkward time, that it’s more distracting than interesting.
I guess color changing was done to amp up the PV. I’m not really impressed though.
This isn’t really an effect, but I absolutely love the whole bond girls silhouettes.
The second thing being the projection images. Once I realized that the girls were on giant projection screens I was immediately intrigued by the whole concept. But yet again, it was a concept that looked much better on the drawing board. What the director of the PV must not of realized was if you film projection screens they quality is extremely poor. Mostly because any image blow up about 400 times the original size is going to massivly loose quality. However, once I saw Berryz Koubou playing around with the projections by walking out of the screen, I was again mesmerized. Only to again be dissapointed. They only play with the screen that one time they walk out of it. I was expecting there to be more elements than that going on. They could have been trapped in the screen, done solo dances next to themself on the screen, or something else.
Why would anyone every purposely makes scenes with such bad quality?
I get that the projections were supposed to be creative, but ever single scene is just has horrible quality.
Not gonna lie, I was pretty blown away by this. XD
Another thing I didn’t like was the motorcycles. Midway through the PV for absolutely no reason at all there are scenes with Berryz and motorcycles. Standing by them, sitting on them, trying to look sexy by them. I do realize that this was done to add some sexy appeal to the PV. But it was completely pointless. How are motorcycles even remotely relevant for a song called Love’s Bullet or Bullet of Love?
The added effect doesn’t even make it relevant.
Of course I alo have to talk about the dance. The dance is completely awakward. It’s trying to be sexy and alluring but failing miserably. The dance moves themselves are too simple and sometimes stupid.
The dance consists of a lot of upward pointing.
WTF worthy hand holding move.
Lolz hip shake.
Here’s the completely unsexy butt shake.
There’s a lot of random shaking in this.
Crouching isn’t even a dance move!
Much like most recent H!P PVs the only redeeming quality about it is the girls. Berryz are looking quite cute and sexy in the video.
With only about 2 weeks until the release until Berryz Koubou’s upcoming new single, Ai no Dangan, a radio rip and PV preview have been released.
Now, here’s a song I was in love with since the first listening. I’m not even sure why. The song is completely laid back. It only has a very slow slight rock instrumental. And it doesn’t even pick up or change it’s beat when the chorus hits. And it’s a huge step away from Heroine ni Narou ka’s intense music and big chorus. And yet, I still love the song, becasue despite it being a pretty clam song for some reason it still grabs my attention. Half because of how abolutely perfect every line is sung and half because the line distribution is awesome. Even though the song is mostly lead by Risako, Momoko, Miyabi, and Yurina, the rest of the members still get a good chunk of lines. The main singers only get about 3 more solo lines than the other members. Which could be better, but is actually pretty good. Especially comapared to what it could be like. Also I think Saki and Yurina completely killed in this song. It fir their voices perfectly. I also think Chinami sounds pretty good in this song. Usuall she sounds a little strained on her lines.
The PV preview is only about 22 seconds, but that’s long enough to see how horrible the PV is. The preview consists of Berryz dancing in tight red spandex suits, that look what Britney Spears wore in the Oops I did it again music video. Which is never a good look by the way. But not only are the outfits hideous the dance itself is terrible. It’s completely awkward with some of the worst dance moves I have ever seen. There’s this one butt shaking move that I guess was supposed to come off as sexy, but it’s so weird and awkward that it’s hilarious. If that wasn’t enough I think this might very well be the worst PV H!P has ever made. It just shows Berryz Koubou dancing on a plain black floor in front of panels that are flashing abstract designs. And that’s it! I seriously hope there’s more elements to this PV then just these dance scenes and close-ups. If not, this is going to be on horrible PV.
If you like what you hear, you can purchase this single from CDJapan.
It was announced that Berryz Koubou is going to be releasing their 26th single. This was announced a few months ago, but I haven’t mentioned it on my blog yet. The single is titled Ai no Dangan and will be released on June 8th.
Other than the name and release date nothing else is know about this single yet. But I hope this single turns out to be actually decent. After their dissapointing and lack luster 7th album, Berryz for me have been knocked down a bit. So, I hope this song restores my faith in them. Their singles are usually consistantly good, but after their 7th album it could go either way now.
A radio rip for a song off of Berryz Koubou’s 7th album, 7 Berryz Time, was released. The song is called Girls Times. And all I can say is finally. Even though Berryz Koubou’s album is being released 3 days before C-ute’s album, this is the first preview of the album we are getting. C-ute’s album has already had 3 song previews.
The song has this laid back back almost beachy feel to it. It reminds me of Madayade but 50% less upbeat. Even though the song is really mid tempo, I actually don’t find it to be boring. The way that it’s sung, and the soft bells in the background give it this adorable aspect. The bass and the shu ba do was, also give this song a 50’s feel. I don’t think the song isn all that impressive. But I do really love it. It feels pretty much like a B-side, but I think it’s a little bit better than a B-side becuase the music is a little impressive. And of course I also love it because of how fair the line distibution is.
After making my post about Momusu’s new single I completely forget, that I haven’t mentioned Berryz’s new single yet. Berryz Koubou announced a few days ago that they will be releasing a new single. The song is currently untitled and will be released on May 4th. Which is only 1 month and 2 days after their last single, and only 5 days after their 7th album.
Berryz Koubou fans are getting A LOT of releasing all at one. 2 new singles, an album, and a photobook. This is either an extremely good thing or and extremely terrible thing. Well, only terrible because Berryz fans will need to sell a kidney just to buy all their releases. XD
The PV for Berryz Koubou’s upcoming single, Heroine ni Narou ka, has just been uploaded to their official youtube channel.
This PV is actually really awesome. It’s a lot more visually creative then your average Berryz PV. Despite this PV being basically the H!P standard dance shot and close up formula, but they’ve still managed to make this PV really interesting to watch. Maybe it’s the Lady Gaga wigs or maybe it’s the facts that there’s a least an effort made to have some sort of storyline. Nah, it’s probably the Lady Gaga wigs. XD But I bet Ai-chan is probably really upset though. She’d probably kill to rip off Lady Gaga’s style in a PV. I actually don’t really mind them getting inspiration from Lady Gaga. American and Korean artists have been copying her style for a while now. But I don’t know, for that reason the PV comes off as being artsy, high quality, and cutting edge. The only complaint I really has is, I wish they focused less on the Lady Gaga outfits and more on the regular ones. The regular ones are really amazing and all the girls look super incredible in them. Especially Chinami and Yurina.
I was actually really impressed by this. It’s an awesome effect.
Despite it being similar to effects Perfume uses.
I doubt the Lady Gagaish style was done by accident.
I mean a lighting bolt on the face, where have I seen that before?
Oh yeah that’s right, Lady Gaga started that.
Lady Gaga never actually wore this makeup, but it does remind me of Poker Face. And by the way look how fierce Miaybi looks. *O*
Wow, Chinami’s makeup is incredible.
Risako’s makeup is way too big and too close to her eye, that it just comes off as awkward.
I really like the dance for this song. There are a lot of intense and exciting moves.
Ok, this move sucks. XD
Look at Risako looking all sultry and hot. I just wish the video quality was better. :/
I love this part of the dance. It reminds me of Kimagure Princess.
Momoko’s the only member who looks adorable in her makeup instead of high fashion. XD
Woah, look at Saki bringing it.
And now everyone is sad for some reason.
Even acting sad Chinami looks gorgeous.
This dance moves always impresses me. I think Berryz has done this before, but I can’t remember. I know NEWS has. XD
It was released about 2 weeks ago that Berryz Koubou will be releasing their 7th album on March 30th entitled 7 Berryz Times. Well today the track list for the album has been released.
The track list is as follows:
1. Icchoume Rock! 2. Heroine ni Narou ka! 3. BOMB BOMB JUMP 4. Masshiroi ano kumo 5. Maji Bomber!! 6. Joshikai The Night 7. Girls Times 8. Onna no Pride 9. Shining Power 10. Magical Future!
I am really excited for this album mostly because Berryz Koubou is my second favorite Hello!Project group. (Following right behind Morning Musume, of course.) I am also excited for it because I thought their last album was really incredible. Their albums are always really great, but I found myself loving 6th Otakebi Album even more than their other albums. I’m also really excited to hear the song Onna no Pride. Since I’m a girl I always love the songs that are super empowering or relatable for girls. Which is why I love Very Beauty and Baka ni Shinaide so much. I’m also interested in hearing Bomb Bomb Jump, just because it seems like it will be similar to Maji Bomber. And as many of you know Maji Bomber was one of my favorite songs of 2010. I’m also hoping there’s a song about unrequited love, because those are always my favorite H!P songs in general. XD
And of course you can buy this album from CDJapan by clicking the links below.
The radio rip for Berryz Koubou’s upcoming single, Heroine ni Narou ka, was finally released. The concert rip for this song has been floating around the internet for nearly a month. But I haven’t listened to the concert rip (well until today) at, because I prefer to wait for the radio rip to be released. Usually because the concert rip is either poor quality or the song differs a lot from the concert rip. In the Aisaresugiru Koto wa Nai no yo concert rip the background music soundly completely different.
The radio rip is only a little less than half of the song, but it’s more than enough to get an overall feel of the song. The music for the song has a very techno and electronic sound to it. It reminds me a lot of Morning Musume’s Fantasy ga Hajimaru and I’m Lucky Girl. I guess Tsunku’s been in an 80’s or techno phase recently. I’m not really complaining. I absolutely love the electronic sort of house music beat that this song has. Berryz hasn’t released a song this danceable since Dakishimete Dakishimete. Even though the music is really amazing I think the vocals are lacking a great deal. There’s hardly any emotion in it. Besides the chorus only Saki’s and Miyabi’s long notes are even memorable. The only really good part about the singing is how evenly divided the lines are. Except, correct me if I’m wrong, I didn’t really hear any solo lines by Yurina. I think she might have only had 1. Which is a tough break. But since she lead Shining Power, I guess she can’t really complain.
Here’s the radio rip:
And if you’re interested here’s the concert rip:
As always, you can buy this single from CDJapan by clicking the links below.
At Berryz Koubou’s last concert Shimizu Saki announced that Berryz Koubou would be performing at Seattle, Washington’s Sakura Con. Marking their first performance outside of Asia and their first every performance in the United States. (Well, first ever if you don’t count their fanclub tour in Hawaii, which I personally don’t.) Sakura Con runs from April 22-24. You can register as a guest on their website here.
Why do idol groups always have to perform across the country so I can’t go? AKB48 performed in New York, but I didn’t really care at the time. But as fate would have it, I’d kill to go now.
Even though I personally can’t go, I am completely excited about this. It’s always extremely exciting when idol groups perform in the United States. Something like this will definitely bump up their popularity with foreign fans, even if it’s just a little bit.
So I guess I’ll just have to wait for legions of fan reports, pictures, and videos. To those of you going, you don’t know how incredibly lucky you are. And how completely jealous I am. Berryz Koubou is my 2nd favorite H!P group. Actually 2nd is a tie between Berryz and Buono.
The new opening and ending themes for the anime Inazuma Eleven are out. Which means we now have a preview of Berryz Koubou’s 24th single Shining Power.
After first hearing the song I automatically though it sounds like Ryuusei Boy mixed with Dance de Bakoon. And I still think that. I also think the song is pretty tame and forgettable. I’m actually really disappointed. Maji Bomber was one of my favorite Berryz singles, and it was obviously a hard song to follow. But after Maji Bomber being so amazing I was expecting this song to be equally amazing. The song for me is sitting right in the middle. It’s not great but it’s not terrible.
As for line distribution it seems to be back to how it always is. Risako, Miyabi, Momoko, and Yurina lead. (I know Yurina doesn’t always lead but she has been for the last 6 singles.) And it’s pretty sad because I don’t hear the other members at all. And it took me of guard because Berryz Koubou has been pretty fair lately. Maybe we’ll hear the other girls in the second half.
The radio rip for Sugaya Risako’s first solo single, Elegant Girl, has just been released. I was kind of expecting the PV to come out, since the Oshare My Dream PV is already out. But I’m gonna guess the PV will be about in ago 3-5 days.
Now, I know when the CM for the song came out I said it was forgettable. But after hearing the song in it’s entirety and listening to is several times in a row, I actually really like it. What I like most about the song is every single part sounds different. What I mean by that is each section of the song is drastically different from the next. Even more so than average songs. An average song will usually be verse and then chorus, 2 differences. Or verse, bridge, and chorus. Which is three differences. But this song is first half of verse, second half of verse, bridge, and then chorus. Which is 4 differently sung sections. And that makes the song incredibly fun to listen to. Especially since each section comes together beautifully. I also love how Risako used her full range without singing above her ability. Which is what she does very often, and it leaves her sounding almost screechy. I think the song is so simple it’s pretty, yet still pretty captivating to listen to. And they actually did make it sounds pretty elegant. Even the music is pretty. It’s slightly upbeat, yet has undertones of classical music.
A commercial was released to promote Sugaya Risako’s first solo single, Elegant Girl, giving us a short preview of the PV. Which is completely unexpected because it’s also the first time we’re hearing the song.
I really wasn’t expecting this single to be so soft sounding. Though it’s called Elegant Girl, which should have given me my first clue. But I was actually expecting this to be pretty tough and loud, because isn’t Risako’s character supposed to be mean or the main character’s rival or something? The song itself sounds really pretty, but I’m not feeling it. In my honest opinion it’s a little forgettable. Let’s hope her second single is better. Or a Ogawa Mana duet!
The CM is far to short to get any substantial feel of the PV. All we’ve actually seen so far is the close up shots. But in that short time makes it look it’s going to be exactly like the Itoshiki Tomo he PV. Or the Bokura ga Ikiru My Asia PV. Both Morning Musume Tanjo 10nen Kinentai PVs were basically the same. Also I think I’m the only one who doesn’t like her evening gown hair. I honestly think it does nothing for her. I prefer Risako with her hair down.
Berryz Koubou member Sugaya Risako will be making her solo debut. She will be releasing a single later this year as Ibu Himuro, her character in the Mecha Mote series. Much like how Kusumi Koharu releases her singles as Kirarin Revolution Staring: Tsukishima Kirari. Or something to that effect.
Now I’m not really the biggest Risako fan in the world, and I also don’t hate her. Risako is more floating somewhere in the middle for me. But I am super excited for solo single. Mostly because H!P anime tie in songs are some of the best H!P songs out there currently. Buono, Kirarin Revolution, Athena & Robikerottsu Shugo Chara Eggs/Guardians 4 are just pure win for me. Yeah that’s right I love Guardians 4. Gotta love the extra does of Mittsi.
I’m also really interested in what her solo single will sound like. Because if Risako sings at certain frequencies it has the tendency to make your ears hurt slightly. Don’t kill me for that comment. XD I also wonder if she will make her voice sounds overly cute like Koharu did for her solo singles. Even Aika makes her voice sound cuter in Going On. But Risako’s voice is usually the exact same. But still she might opt for something cuter since it’s solo single for anime.
But yeah, I am really happy for Risako. I mean she’ll finally be up in the front more. I can barely even find her in Berryz Koubou PVs! Seriously, give less popular girls singles please. I’m expecting this single to be utter win, so don’t disappoint. And let’s hope she doesn’t leave Berryz Koubou immediately after her solo singles end, like Koharu did. XD
Also in honor of her upcoming solo debut here’s a small video spam of my favorite Risako performances.
Berryz Koubou is staring in a new stage play called San Okuen Shoujo~Karei Naru Shichinin. Seems harmless enough. And yet this stage play completely creeps me out. Case and point the poster for the stage play. The poster is a composite photo of all the members’ faces. Here’s the photo.
The idea sounds really awesome and undoubtedly creative on the surface, but underneath of that it creeps the hell out of me. You might still be asking yourself why is this creepy? It’s simply really. It’s half creepy because all of their faces blended together. Which is weird enough on it’s own. And half creepy because the girl their faces is actually really normal looking, and even cute. Therefore, it’s creepy to think a person who doesn’t even exist is cute. If I was to see this picture without knowing what is was my first reaction would. “She’s cute, I wonder what group she’s from.” Which makes me feel a little weird. But come one look closely at the photo and try to tell me it doesn’t look like Suzuki Airi mixed with Ogawa Saki. Just try to, because there’s no way it doesn’t!
I don’t really like posting about PV previews or commercials too much. Because it always seems with my horrible luck the PV is released like the next couple of days. And then my post is pretty pointless. But it’s been 4 days since the CM was released and no PV, so I think it’s ok to mention. And besides that, Maji Bomber is too epic not to blog about.
Within the last four days 2 commercials were released for Berryz Koubou’s 23rd single, Maji Bomber. Combined they’re 45 seconds of the PV itself. Which is a pretty decent enough preview, you get the whole feel of the PV. The PV looks incredible. The PV itself is actually really simple, and there’s really nothing going on. So what makes it so incredible? For starters, the song itself. Maji Bomber is an amazing song. It is hands down my favorite Berryz Koubou A-side ever! It’s just an incredible son. I won’t say it’s my favorite Berryz Koubou song because I don’t think any song will ever replace Baka ni Shinaide. But more importantly what makes the PV so epic is the girls themselves. These outfits and Rivals outfits are probably my favorite Berryz Koubou PV outfits. They all just looks amazing! I mean I could cry over how incredible Chinami looks!
Yeah that’s pretty much all I’m going to say about the PV, because I am 100% going to do a PV review of it. And I don’t want to put all my best comments in this post. Also with my rotten luck expect the PV to be out tomorrow. XD
I haven’t done a Berryz Koubou PV review in an extremely long time, which I’m sorry about. But I usually only do PV reviews for PVs that I’m really excited about or really disappointed about. Usually Berryz videos fall some where in the middle. A lot also has to do with liking the song. I usually am not impressed with Berryz songs the first time I hear them. It’s not until I hear them randomly weeks later and realize how amazing they really are. Except Ryuusei Boy. I started out liking it and not it annoys me. XD But anyway, since this is their 3rd double a-side, I’m going to finally do a double review. (Which I planned to do with their last 2 singles, but just never got around to doing.) So I’m going to compare ever aspect of each PV to see which one is the better PV.
I’m gonna start off by saying this two songs are about as opposite as they can get, so both PVs reflect that. So feel free to take my review with a grain of salt.
Comparison 1: Outfits
Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda:
The outfits for this PV are simply gorgeous. Every single outfit is adorable and accessorized perfectly. Even though Maasa’s and Saki’s outfits are the ugliest, I would still probably wear them. The outfits are very pretty and casual.
Otakebi Boy WAO:
Believe it or not I think this outfits are utter win. For the most part I hate camouflage patterned clothes. But absolutely I love pink camo. (Go figure. XD) I also love the racer gloves, I think they make the outfit. I these outfits give them the tough aspect they were going for while still looking adorable.
Verdict: Even though I love both outfits Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda wins. Mostly because they can be worn outside of hunting.
Comparison 2: Dance
Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda:
This song is too slow to have a difficult or memorable dance. So the dance is pretty boring. It just falls flat. The moves are just to simple for my taste. It looks like it would take a normal fan a half hour to learn. I prefer idol dances like Mikan and C/C, that look like they would take a couple of hours to learn.
Otakebi Boy WAO: This dance is pretty boring also, for the same reason. The dance it just too simple. It feels like H!P choreographers aren’t trying anymore. Though there are a few parts of the dance that were cool to look out. Just not too many.
Verdict: Even though both dances are pretty lame Otakebi Boy WAO wins. The song is a lot faster than Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda, so the dance is a lot faster at parts. It’s also a lot more energetic and cuter. And for some reason I dig the O WAO, WAO dance parts. XD
Comparison 3: The girls
Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda:
The girls look amazing as they always do. Especially Momoko, Yurina, and Maasa. They are hands down the prettiest in this video. Maasa completely takes me by surprise. I usually never notice her, but in this video it’s hard not to. She looks beyond amazing.
Otakebi Boy WAO:
Even though this is the tough themed video the girls still look great. Especially Yurina, Chinami, and Saki. I actually think Chinami and Saki look better in this video.
Verdict: There is no winner for this. I mean my favorites look good in both video. After that it really comes down to individual girls rather than as a whole. Otakebi Boy WAO would win for Miyabi, Chinami, Saki, and Risako. But Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda would win for Momoko, Yurina, and Maasa.
Comparison 4: Overall concept
Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda has a cute and playful theme. So there are several cute scenes throughout the video.
Cute scene 1
Cute scene 2
Cute Scene 3
Cute scene 4
Cute scene 5
Cute scene 6
Otakebi Boy WAO has a tougher and cooler concept than Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda. So instead there are more cool scenes. Which usually involve lightning, since it’s used for the Inazuma 11 ending.
Cool scene 1
Cool scene 2
Cool scene 3
Verdict: Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda wins. Not only is it much cuter there’s a lot more going on in the video. Otakebi Boy WAO has nothing going on except dancing and lightning.
Comparison 5: Unoriginality comparison
Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda: The looking at pictures scene reminds me way too much of aMa no Jaku.
aMa no Jaku
Otakebi Boy WAO: Having a mic reminds me too much of Tan Tan Taan
Tan Tan Taan.
Verdict: There is none. PV makers should be more original.
I stop blogging for a week and I miss so much news. Most of my next few posts will be old news, so forgive me for not being constantly glued to the computer. ;]
Berryz Koubu’s double A-side21st single, Watashi no Mirai no Danna-sama/Ryuusei Boy, is being released November 11th. About a week ago the first song preview for Ryusei Boy came out. It’s being used as the new ending theme for the anime Inazuma Eleven.
When I first heard the song I immediately though it sounded like something Ongaku Gatas would have as their single. I really does remind me of a faster paced Aisaretai Aisaretai. I do like the disco type music, but it’s not really something I was expecting or wanted Berryz to have. Especially since I loved Seishun Bus Guide and Rival.
I’m really loving the line distribution though. There’s a good chunk of Maasa in the song. She not leading it, but it definitely sounds like she’s taking Yurina’s fourth lead spot. Which makes me think the song will be a lot like Madayade, where everyone got a fair amount of solo lines. Chinami better have at least two solo lines. She totally got shafted in Seishun Bus Guide. I’m also sad that I don’t really hear that much Momoko. If you’re going to cut a lead singer lines, make it Miyabi. She sings enough.
The cover’s for H!P’s 2012 calendars have been released. And let’s just say not all calendars are created equally.
Morning Musume’s calendar. I know Morning Musume has been styled this way 1,000 times, but I love the cover. Everyone one just looks gorgeous. Especially Koharu, she has the best hairstyle hands down. My eyes were immediately drawn to her because she’s the only one doing an interesting pose. Everyone else looks kind of flat pose wise. I also think Aika looks amazing with that hair. They should always style her hair like that. Half of the time her hair is just straight or ugly. I would have liked to see them do something with LinLin’s hair, it just looks boring. I loved her curly hair from Naichau Kamo. In my opinion it should be curled. But, I think Sayumi looks great with just her straight hair. She’s one of the few people who look better with it down. And for a random observation, why are Sayumi’s shoes different? Ai, Reina, and Koharu are all wearing the same shoes, but Sayumi is wearing a differen and uglier shoe. I thought Aika was the one who supposed to wear different shoes.
Berryz Koubou’s calendar. I have to admit I am a fan of the tux/bartender outfits. I don’t usually like when H!P members where suits, with an exception to Buono and Risa. But overall I think they look really cute. And surprisingly my eyes were drawn to Risako, Chinami, and Yurina. Well I was drawn to Yurina for obvious reasons. Chinami is the only one smiling on the cover who actually looks believable. Everyone else’s looks forced. Especially Miyabi’s, it kind of looks like she’s in pain. As for Risako, I’m not exactly sure why I keep looking at her. She looks about the same as she always does. I think the background for this is a little simple looking. It looks like something I could makes on photoshop. Which is saying a lot with my limited skills. Simple or not, it does look cute. It brings a nice splash of color to it. Without the rainbows I think everyone would have ended up looking washed out.
C-ute’s calendar. It’s C-ute’s bus tour 2010! ._. I can’t be the only one out there who think these outfits look similar to C-ute’s bus tour outfits. I know this one is stripped and the other one was houndstooth, but the color scheme makes them look very similar. There’s not really much going on that I like. This calendar looks bare. Losing 2 members doesn’t really sink in until you see a picture like this. The calendar and group looks empty now. I miss Kanna’s cuteness to make it look more lively. Well Airi looks cute, that’s about the only thing this calendar has going for it. The only thing C-ute has.
ManoEri’s calendar. It’s yet another picture of Erina in a school girl uniform. Yeah I understand she’s kind of cute, and she looks cuter in her school girl outfit. But should that really be the only thing she ever wears? This cover looks exactly like the cover of her first major single. I’m not going to even pretend I know the name of it. XD I’m pretty sure it’s the same exact outfit. Boring! Next! I wish there was a next.
Exciting news for Yurina fans like myself, Berryz Koubou member Kumai Yurina was in her first solo commercial. It was a CM for BaseBallBear’s new album, or new single, (What is the) Love & Pop? The title distracts me a little bit. Mostly because isn’t not even a horribly failed English attempt they just need to get rid of one word. I don’t know it just urkes me.
Anyway back on subject. I think Yurina looks gorgeous in this CM. She’s wearing a school girls uniform, which is just instant win for me. Her hair is softly blowing, she just looks awesome.
Though I do kind of hate how she looks in the beginning. She looks like a deer caught in headlights. I know she’s supposed to
because of the theme of the commercial, but it just looks awkward.
Though she makes up for it with this look. It’s half creepy and half alluring. I’ll take that.
I wasn’t really expecting blood to shoot out of her lemon, it caught me off guard.
It reminded me of Koishite Akuma XD. I had to laugh a little at it
though, just because it’s not believable looking. Japanese blood
never looks real. Just like in the Suicide Club. Love the movie
hate the blood’s appearance. This picture makes me think Yurina would be perfect for a horror movie. Where her movie about fighting zombie ghost things?
With C-ute members Kanna and Erika leaving/gone it made me really wonder the fate of not just C-ute, but of Berryz Koubou as well.
C-ute has lost two members in the past month. Bringing their well put together and stable seven member group down to just five. Now I thought C-ute looked lacking when Kanna was absent from their last two singles. But I can’t even imagine seeing C-ute with Erika gone too. I can’t imagine how C-ute is going to come back from this. Kanna and Erika weren’t exactly vocal powerhouses, but they were still good singers. As C-ute is now with just five members, they aren’t strong enough vocally.
Mai and Chisato are mediocre singers, but Saki is borderline terrible. In my opinion of course. Airi and Maimi will be forced to carry the group even more then they are now. Let’s take C-ute’s single Bye Bye Bye. It basically shows C-ute’s currently line up because Erika only got one solo line anyway. New C-ute will focus on Airi, Maimi, and Mai, with Chisato and Saki as backup. Just like in Bye Bye Bye. However I think this song is really lacking, and I’m also not looking forward to hearing more Saki. They can’t distort her voice forever.
I seriously think they should add a few more members to C-ute. It would be the smart thing to do. Kanna was an Egg and everything turned out fine for her. Sure she faded to the background, but if they choose one of the most popular Eggs it could increase C-ute’s sales. With C-ute as it is they will fall even further behind the shadow of Berryz Koubou.
Being realistic here, it’s pretty safe to assume that new member won’t be added to C-ute. But I would still like to know where that leaves C-ute? Is the pull of Airi and Maimi strong enough to keep the heartbroken Erika and Kanna wota?
It might seem like I’m overreacting or thinking way too much here because Morning Musume graduates members all the time. However, Morning Musume also gets fresh new members to replace them months before the actual graduation. But Berryz Koubou and C-ute depend solely on the members they have. Which is why in the entire time they were groups only one member graduated officially, Maiha. And now Erika. And even though it’s years away, eventually all the members will want to graduate. Whether it’s to continue their studies or find a better career path, within or without H!P.
So what happens to Berryz and C-ute? What happens when the popular members want to leave? They have nothing to fall back on because the Hello Project Kids didn’t follow Momusu’s design. Which was good for the time, not to be seen as a younger carbon copys of Morning Musume. It’s even good for the time being while all the members are young and want to be idols. But what happens when thy get too old? Does C-ute and Berryz Koubou just disappear forever?
I always took this as the Hello Project Kids main design flaw. As it is H!P can’t make it without C-ute or Berryz Koubou. Without them they would be left with just Morning Musume, short lived subunits, ManoEri, and S/mileage. Which would be a catastrophe, since Berryz Koubou, C-ute and Buono have almost been surpassing Morning Musume. With the Berryz award in Korea, C-ute in Hawaii, and Momusu’s Kohaku snub. They managed to create a following almost as large as Morning Musume’s. And when they leave they’ll be taking a significant amount of the fanbase with them.
Now, I don’t mean to rain on anyone’s H!P Kid’s parade, but you still have to wonder what’s going to happen to them in the future. And if this really is Berryz Koubou’s and C-ute inevitable fate. With the H!P Elder Club graduation a few months back, after a certain amount of time they might be forced to break up anyway. To make room for younger solo artists and groups. To keep H!P’s newly fresh and young image.
I perviosuly stated on this post that Berryz Koubou would be getting their own shown called Thrilling! Berryz Kingdom, but it turns out it’s not a TV show at all. Rather it’s a radio show on SKY PerfecTV. I guess I just assumed it was a TV show because the station is called SKY PerfecTV. You know what they say about assuming, and having misleading radio station names.
I’m sorry to any Berryz fans who got their hopes up over this post. I’m just as dissapointed as you.
Berryz Koubou’s 20th single, Sishun Bus Guide, is being released June 3rd. With a little less than 2 months to the release, the song preview has already been released. Well only a 1:30 preview.
When I heard the title of the song was Seishun Bus Guide, I automatically thought of Mini Moni Bus Guide. So I was expecting a really upbeat and energetic song. Like Berryz singles used to be like. For me I think the song falls a little flat. They went for another mature song like their last single. But Dakishimete Dakishimete is 50 times better than this song. And the line distribution seems to be back to normal. An overdose of Miyabi, Risako, and Momo. Maybe when the full version and PV are out I’ll like it more. But for now the song is a little bland to me.
